The Blessing

The Voices in the head had suddenly stopped, he was relieved and slept peacefully for the next two days. He had noticed several changes, his tooth that fell out of his mouth has grown back and the scratches he had from playing around are also gone.

For a three-year-old kid, he didn't understand much and also there wasn't anyone he could ask about this. When he tried to talk to the caretaker, he scolded him to not bother with something stupid.

He asked the child he helped, the boy was confused and couldn't give him an answer either. In the end, he gave up on finding what exactly was going on with him.

Soon the forest came into his view, he ran in the direction of the forest from where he last found the berries. There were many berries to pick even when he came last time, he started to pack a lot this time, unlike pockets the bag was able to fill as much as he wanted.

This was his third time doing this, but soon he sensed danger. From the branches, a small green snake quickly bit on his hands. It hurt a lot when the snake bite and the boy fell to the ground because of feeling dizzy.

He tried to shake the tree but nothing happened, even when his strength was multiplied five times it barely reached the power of a ten-year-old kid. He picked up a stone and aimed at the fruit but missed.

He did it for two hours trying to at least get one fruit but he was unable to do that.

The Voice spoke in an intimated tone, The boy immediately looked around himself. It was almost evening time, in the night many animals come at the border of the forest. The voice was sending him a warning continuously, he understood the warning and picked up his bag which was filled with berries. He looked at the fruit once more and thought what will it taste like but he gave up and ran towards the orphanage.

As he was getting near the orphanage, he saw the caretaker having a stick in his hand and standing in front of the broken wall from where he exited the orphanage.

He hid behind a rock but was already spotted by the caretaker.

" You! I have warned you, What is that? You took that bag with you." The Caretaker saw that the bag was filled with berries. " Come with me."

He snatched the bag from him and led him inside by hand. Everyone in the orphanage was gathered there, they had been searching for him the entire day.

" Come on, now! Get your hands up and stand facing the wall." The caretaker said and then hit the boy on his bum ten times. He cried in pain making it a warning for him and others.

" If you go in the forest again, then it's better that you don't live in the orphanage as well."

" I don't want to live here!" The boy shouted, " I can get my food, better food. I don't need to be here."

The Caretaker was taken back, he had thought that the boy would be submissive after the punishment but it had an opposite effect on him.

" What did you say, bastard? You are going to sleep here, I will tie your hands. That should teach you a lesson."

The caretaker roped the child outside the gates and left. The other children also went to sleep, the boy cried because he only had good intentions, he had also brought the berries for other kids and this time a lot compared to before.

He didn't understand why he was punished and why in front of everyone.
