Chapter 12

After saying that, Quentin shot a look at the two bodyguards. "Take her to the hospital. You should know what to do next," he ordered in his cold, emotionless voice.

"Yes, sir," the two bodyguards replied respectfully. They immediately picked Quincy up, one on each side, and dragged her out of the office despite her struggles.

Later one, Quincy was brought to the hospital. A doctor quickly rolled out a stretcher bed forward. The two bodyguard forced her onto the bed, even as Quincy desperately tried to get away. With her head raised, she bit into the arm pressed against her shoulder, and when the man felt the pain, he slapped Quincy hard in the face with a sound so loud that even the doctor froze.

"What are you looking at? Get the anesthetic!"

The doctor snapped back to his senses and hurriedly took out a medical box from the lower level of the stretcher bed. He pulled out a syringe and injected Quincy at the back of her neck. A few seconds later, she lost consciousness...

Quincy woke up, once again finding herself in the familiar darkness. She couldn't see a single thing as she tentatively walked forward. Suddenly, the bright white light appeared once again and she ran forward as the scenery around her shifted. The voices of the men and women came from behind her, once again. But this time, something was different. She seemed to hear a woman's screams, and some soft sobbing.

She turned around to look at the woman whose back was facing her. The voice was so familiar and she suddenly, she made a realization. That's me! That woman is me!

Quincy tried to get closer but her surrounding started to distort once again. The darkness swallowed her little by little, and she knew that in the next moment, she was going to plunge into the darkness. No!  She couldn't let that happen!

She had a feeling in her heart that maybe this time, she would finally find out who she really was!

Quincy turned around and quickly ran ahead, but the three men seemed to be backing away, and no matter how close she got, they were still the same distance away from her.

As she was panicking, the scene around her suddenly changed, and she was standing on a road with no one around.

Quincy wondered, wasn't this a dream? How could she feel pain? As soon as the question popped up in her head, two beams of blinding white light suddenly flashed in front of her, followed by the sound of a loud horn as a huge truck drove rapidly towards her. She wanted to move, but her feet felt like they were filled with cement, and she was stuck to the ground.

Just as the truck was about to hit her, she covered her face and screamed. "Ahhhh!!!!"

Quincy opened her eyes and sat up from the bed. She gasped for air. Everything in the dream seemed so real. The bone-chilling feeling of realism terrified her so much that she lost control of herself and fell off the bed. It was only then that she realized that the room she was in wasn't the one she was familiar with.

Quincy got up from the floor, fumbled to the wall and found the light switch. In an instant, bright, white lights illuminated the room.

She looked around at every detail of the room in some confusion. The sudden intrusion of a man almost made her scream.

She took a couple of steps back as Quentin stood up from the couch to walk over to her and reach out to caress her collarbone, which was exposed outside her loose nightgown.

"Are you afraid of me?"
