Chapter 9

Quincy opened her eyes and looked into the darkness blankly as she struggled to raise her body to stand up on her feet. Her ears were still ringing.

The headache was so intense that she couldn't help but let out a moan. The soft moan sounded loud and clear in the darkness and echoed over and over again.

"Is someone there?" Quincy called out tentatively, but the only answer she got was her own echoes.

Suddenly, a light appeared in front of her eyes, and the darkness was instantly replaced by an unfamiliar sight.

Quincy stopped moving and blankly looked around her. All of a sudden, she heard a burst of laughter from behind her.

When she turned around, she saw two girls and a man walking towards her. Before she could see their faces clearly, everything in front of her suddenly became distorted and darkness engulfed her again.

In a panic, Quincy shook her head wildly to look at her surroundings, but everything seemed to be distorted and in a mess. She tried to run but the ground under her feet sank, and her body fell down quickly.

"Ahh.."

Quincy screamed and clutched her head as she opened her eyes and snapped out of the dream. A blur of light was in front of her and she reached out to cover her eyes. Only after a while did she remove her hands.

Her racing heart gradually calmed down, and she stared blankly at the white porcelain lampshade on the ceiling while reeling from the state of disorientation. This wasn't the first time she had such a dream. Ever since she had arrived at the Phantom Nightclub -- no, ever since she was rescued by Ms. Lucas -- she'd had this bizarre recurring dream.

She had a hunch that this dream was something about her past.

Quincy stood up slowly, her hands tightly clutching the rim of the bathtub. The severe headache hadn't subsided yet and the pain in her lower body still lingered. Her body was as sore, as if it had been run over by a car. She stood in the luxuriously large bathtub and looked at herself in the mirror. A grim smile crept over her face.

Back at the entrance of Phantom Nightclub, the security guard said, "Sorry, Miss Scott, but you can't come in."

Quincy frowned at the two security guards at the door with a puzzled look on her face. "Why not?"

"There's no particular reason. Ms. Lucas explained that you are no longer a member of 'Phantom Nightclub'."

"Impossible! I want to talk Ms. Lucas face to face!"

As soon as Quincy's words fell, a large suitcase dropped fell from above her! The suitcase fell to the ground with a thud and immediately split open. The contents of the suitcase were scattered everywhere and her clothes were all in disarray.

Quincy was shocked! She raised her head to look up. On the third floor, there were two men who looked like bodyguards standing beside Ms. Lucas.

Quincy looked back at the security guard at the door as she said, "Let me in!"

The security guard remained indifferent and stopped in front of her with an impassive expression on his face.

There was the sudden sound of screeching brakes behind her, and Quincy ignored it as she stubbornly tried to get past the security guards. The guards suddenly became angry so Quincy immediately turned around to see what was going on. Two men in black suits and dark sunglasses were walking towards her.

Quincy sensed that they were coming to get her, so she turned around to leave. But it was too late. The two men grabbed her before she could escape.

They each grabbed one of Quincy's arms and dragged her to the car that was parked on the curbside. They opened the door and shoved her inside.

"Who in the world are you?! Let me out!"

The two men ignored her, but she continued to struggle and said, "Put me down! Let me out!"

Finally, one of them raised his hand and struck the back of Quincy's neck. Finally, it was quiet...
