Mollie looked at me before moving her body sideways to shield her belly from me.
Judging from her reaction, she probably thought I had the intention of harming her baby.
"Don't worry," I said as I looked at Jeremy's lover in disdain. "No matter how angry I am, I would never try to harm a baby. That's the Damon Family's precious grandson after all."
If she really was afraid that I would try to harm her or her baby, she would never have moved into my house from the beginning.
The reason she moved in was to show me that she was much more important to Jeremy. It was the biggest humiliation and provocation she could lay on me.
As for me, all I could do was endure the humiliation so that I could collect evidence of Jeremy cheating on me with her.
However, I did not expect that before I could even get my hands on any evidence, something worse happened.
As I did not want to stay at home and see my mother-in-law treating Mollie as if she was her daughter-in-law, I decided to head back to work.
However, just as I finished changing and was about to leave, Mollie stopped me.
She looked at me and asked, "April, where are you heading off to? You haven't even had breakfast yet."
"I'm off to work," I scoffed. "I'm not like you. I cannot afford to laze around just because you are pregnant."
My words were effective as Mollie quickly pretended that she was hurt by them. "April, I know what I did was wrong. That's why I'm trying my best to make up for it. Why are you treating me like this?"
She tried to grab me and I instinctively swiped her hand away.
I did not put any strength into my swiping motion, but Mollie fell backwards.
I was completely shocked by her reaction. Before I could even react, Jeremy had run over and pushed me away to help Mollie up nervously.
"A-are you okay?" he asked anxiously.
"Jeremy! Blood. There's blood! You have to take me to the hospital."
Jeremy's shove was so hard that I fell and hit my back on the tea table. It hurt so much that I could not even make a sound.
As I struggled to get up, Jeremy had already picked Mollie off the floor and glared at me angrily. "April Hadley! You are a vicious woman!"
He stormed out of the door with Mollie still in his arms.
My mother-in-law also shot me an angry glare before chasing after her son.
After everyone had left, I looked at the puddle of blood on the floor and could not help but feel like I was in a tragic drama or something.
When I remembered that Jeremy called me a vicious woman before he left, my instant reaction was to laugh.
But, as I laughed, tears began to roll down my cheeks.
Not long ago, at the same spot, I lost my baby as well. I even lost the right to become a mother forever.
But when the same thing happened to another woman, Jeremy's reaction was completely different compared to when it happened to me.
From nonchalance to dramatic worry, the contrast was drastic.
At that moment, I felt as if something heavy had lifted off my heart. I completely gave up on all the feelings that I once had for Jeremy.
I called my manager and told him that something urgent came up at home and I needed another day before I could return.
After I hung up, I returned to the bedroom to clean my stuff out. With every second that passed in the house, my revolt for the situation worsened.
Seconds after I packed all my clothes into the suitcase, my phone rang.
I answered it and could hear Jeremy's angry voice from the other side of the phone. "April Hadley! I want a divorce!"
The moment I heard that my first reaction was to laugh. "Great! If you have the time, let's sign the papers today!"
At that instance, all I felt was the irony in everything that happened. Not long ago, Jeremy was literally begging me to not leave him. And yet, just a few days in, he wanted a divorce because of Mollie.
