Chapter 5

I felt as if the ceiling had collapsed on me and a shiver ran down my spine.

Of course, I was the one who thought of taking revenge on Jeremy by having sex with Kevin. But never in a million years would I have expected that my mother and mother-in-law would actually catch me in the act of cheating.

Unexpectedly, my mother-in-law scolded, "Jeremy! Go back to your room!"

The sense of relief that I felt was as if I was thrown off the roof but landed safely on a soft mattress.

Perhaps because Kevin and Jeremy almost had the same height and built, my mother-in-law thought the man that I was having sex with was her son.

Kevin did not make a sound, and with me still in his arms, he walked back to the bedroom.

On our way there, I could even hear my mother-in-law giving my mother an awkward laugh. "See? I told you the kids are fine. It's normal for a married couple to argue once in a while. There's no need for us to worry about them."

I couldn't hear what they were talking about after that. Kevin had already taken me back into the bedroom and locked the door behind us.

Once I made sure my mother and mother-in-law could not see or hear us, I hopped down from Kevin's arms and anxiously said, "I'll distract my mom and mother-in-law later. You take the chance to leave."

"But our clothes are still outside," he reminded me.

It was only then did I realize that all of our clothes were in the living room and it was impossible for us to get them.

"T-then, you can wear Jeremy's clothes first. You guys have the same height and build. They should fit you."

I hurriedly got Jeremy's clothes out of the wardrobe and threw them to Kevin before putting on an oversized T-shirt myself.

When I turned back to look at Kevin, he was frowning at the clothes that I had given him. It was clear that he was reluctant to put them on.

It took me a few seconds to realize that there was no way Kevin would want to put Jeremy's clothes on. If the situation were reversed and I was asked to put on Mollie's, Kevin's girlfriend, clothes, I would hesitate as well.

"I just bought those for him. He still hasn't worn them yet. Look, the tags are still on."

Kevin finally put those clothes on after I told him that.

Even though Kevin and Jeremy had pretty much the same physique, the vibe they gave off was completely different. How Kevin looked in the clothes was completely different from how Jeremy looked in them.

Fortunately, they both had well-built bodies and would look good in anything. Even though it was weird to see Kevin in Jeremy's clothes at first, that feeling was pretty much gone when I took a peek at him again. He looked dashing in those clothes.

I opened the door slightly and peeked into the living room and noticed my mother and mother-in-law were not there.

After urging Kevin to leave, I hastily tidied the clothes that were thrown onto the couch and the floor. Just as I picked up the clothes, my mother came out from the kitchen. "Huh? Where's Jeremy?" she asked.

"He had something urgent to attend to and left," I replied

Then, I rushed back to the bedroom with my clothes and hid in there.

What Kevin had left at my place was a white button-down. There wasn't a brand logo on it, but judging from the shirt's craftsmanship, I could tell that it was extremely expensive. There was no way I could throw it away. I folded the shirt neatly and put it into a paper bag before storing it deep inside the wardrobe.

I planned to return the shirt to Kevin when I had the time.

After I finished tidying up, there was a knock on the door.

When I opened the door, I was greeted by my mother-in-law with a bowl of black-colored soup. The stench from the soup was so overpowering that I had to pinch my nose. "What is this?"

"This is to help you recover. Also, drinking this after doing that will make it easier for you to get pregnant," she said with a smile.

Upon hearing the word "pregnant," my expression turned cold again. It was as if someone had insulted me.

"It hasn't been a month since I had my miscarriage. I'll be killing myself if I got pregnant now," I scolded and slammed the door shut.

Whenever I thought of my baby that never even had the chance to breathe fresh air, I would feel as if my heart was being stabbed by a knife.

Late that night, I dreamt of a baby in a diaper waving goodbye to me while running away.

When I woke up, my pillow was soaked in tears. There was no one I could share my pain with. I could only endure it alone.

Jeremy did not even return home that day. Instead, I got a video through a message.

It was from a number that I had never seen before. In the video, Jeremy was bringing Mollie into an expensive apparel store.

I did not pay any heed to the video.

However, another video arrived. In it was Jeremy and Mollie making out inside a changing room.
