...Chapter Four...
..."It's been an unusual start to my everlasting life, yet I sense danger all around me, and I can't comprehend how everyone here isn't trustworthy."...
First Person-POV;
I awoke to a light shining towards me; there is darkness and light, but I have no idea where I am. Everything appears to be gorgeous, and there are no other people in sight, which makes me feel uneasy, but I'll grow used to it. As I wander around this area, I notice a few petals surrounding the light that is directed towards me.
Should I go along with it or ignore it? I then attempted shouting in this area, but no one heard me, and I became panicked out of nowhere. What brought me here in the first place? Isn't it obvious that I'm either in heaven or hell right now?
"What the hell happened? What am I doing here? " I look around the room and see no one except myself; I notice light coming towards me and wonder why, but all I see are paintings of Detective Anderson and Dorothy." Is this what they're talking about when they say there's an afterlife? It appears to be both beautiful and lonely. "Wait, is that Detective Anderson and Dorothy?" I said.
I take a deep breath and reflect on the artworks that are there in front of me. I felt disappointed in myself and worried that something bad would happen again.
"It's time for Dionne Rain to depart the afterlife Institution," This person said. Is that how they referred to the afterlife? It appears to be so lovely that I feel compelled to stay and confront that person again. It was holding a pistol to my head and pointing it in my direction, but my initial instinct was to punch this person. "Are you sure you don't want to go into trouble?" I was about to attack this person when the bullet went off and went straight up my body."
Another bullet in my body, so fantastic, and I'll make certain that my head isn't in charge of me.
I awoke in a strange place, in what appears to be a soundproof room, with the feeling that someone is watching me from behind, but why am I seated in a chair with many things about me? Then someone approached me and said, "Dionne Rain, I apologize, but let's begin our experiment now." What did he mean by experiment? I'm just going to be a test subject here, but why? My body shivered and I felt a sharp pain in my gut as I was terrified of what he would do to me.
I grabbed his hand and shoved him out of the room as he tried to put something on me. Is it true that I did that? What would happen if something bad happened to me? I then started to look through his stuff in his jeans, where I discovered keys. There are a number of them, but I had to stick to my guns on this one. I then exited the room and noticed a few bodyguards.
"There are a lot of people in this hallway, and-" I then turn behind me at someone who is attempting to silence me. However, because to my abilities, I was able to shove as quickly as I could, but Raleigh and my so-called mother were no match for me. To be honest, I'm not sure why there's an anti-mortal sword, and does that mean my mortal self may be killed by it? "Oh shit, someone's after me," I thought as I tried to flee as quickly as possible.
A journey to another world from six years ago. This location appears to be pleasant and fictitious. However, I may be sympathetic to anyone who sobs, but I must overcome my pain before time runs out. "Did you grow up as an orphan? What's your name, by the way?" A Detective came to ask for my information, and I'm now certain that I could give them exactly what my information is. "I am an orphan, and my name is Dionne Rain."
"You appear to be someone who avoids confrontations and disputes, but I believe you have the potential to be a fighter." I listened and nodded; Detective Anderson appears to be a busy man, but I am excited to work for him. I see, I do have the capacity to be taught as a warrior, but I doubt I'll ever be trained again because I died and was born again in this so-called universe. "I'm not sure if I'll ever return, but I definitely need to get out of here."
Someone is here, I must act quickly, but it abruptly forced me into the wall, causing my body parts to hurt and the walls to fracture as if someone shoved me into the wall, but I don't care as long as I know who it is.
"Long time no see, Dionne, you've been sleeping for five days and you've already started another fight," she said, glaring at my face, so it was Raleigh after all, I'm not sure why most of the bodyguards here aren't very strong when it comes to fighting, but I'm sure Raleigh is one of the strongest people in this place, but I still have no idea where I am or why this so-called Afterlife Institution exists. "Did I finally get you to stop talking?" Finally, I gave up hope that a lady like you could ever be quiet."
She had the audacity to say that to me, and I clenched my fists as she moved to grab my head and shove me again. Although it appears that I entered this hallway, why are they startled that someone has done so? According to Detective Anderson, I could only escape and protect myself from battles by dodging them, but I couldn't fight them with my fists.
"What makes you think I should trust any of you in this experiment?" "This experiment will work on you," She responded, "but you wrecked it, so we have to start over!" She yelled at me, then grabbed my body and gripped my neck, injecting something into me that I don't know what it was. "What a moron, you should've just listened to our commands instead of instigating a fight," she said, and that was the last thing I heard from her.
I sensed a sharpness in this location, but where am I? I then feel as if I haven't awakened; how long have I been here? I then walked towards the bright lights and noticed a man with a gun waiting there. When I went to approach him, I was given the options of a rifle, a knife, or a map, but I have a feeling that two of these options may have deceived me. So I chose the map since I knew I'd have to dodge them rather than combat them.
"I choose a map from all the options." I pressed the board, and it vanished; I took a long breath, hoping that the map I chose wasn't that horrible after all.
I then attempted to ignore the man, but he abruptly came in front of my eyes. I couldn't allow my terror consume me completely, so I had to fight it until the delusion came to an end. "What an useless being you are; why were you born at all?! "What does he mean? This man has the audacity to tell me I'm a useless person, but I'm not going to allow him damage me with his comments.
While he was distractedly looking at me, I punched and hit him. After all, it wasn't so horrible; I just hope there aren't any more people imitating this institution. I kept running until I ran out of breath, at which point I became trapped in a circle of invisible objects.
"What do I do now!" I was panicking when I saw Dorothy, who was dressed in the last clothes she wore before she died, but she looked so angry at me that I felt like something was consuming me. "You shouldn't have left me with someone else, look what they did to me, and if you hadn't left, I wouldn't have died!" She blamed me for all I did to help her live a better life even though she didn't live with me.
"Be quiet! I did it for you, to help you enjoy a better life than I had, so you wouldn't have to suffer!" When I stated that, she vanished and another person appeared in front of me, but this time it was Detective Anderson; is he going to accuse me for anything as well? "You! Why would you leave me here, Detective Rain?! " What the hell, is that all he's going to say?
"I'll tell you what! "You're always worthless and annoying, Dionne Rain," he yelled at me, and I pretended not to notice, but I wasn't prepared for both of them to believe I'd done everything wrong. I shouldn't allow my sadness take me completely, though, because I know they wouldn't do this for me. "You have no right to say that to me, Angelo Anderson!" I exclaimed, rolling my eyes. Yes, I called him by his entire name because he made the wrong move on me.
He then vanished as well, but this time it was my so-called mother who vanished. "If it hadn't been for you, we're not going to have any issues in this life, Mariah Theodora!" How can I be Mariah Theodora when I'm Dionne? I can't even talk to these folks who are mimicking other people, so I just rolled my eyes.
"First and foremost," I continued, frowning at her, "I'm not Mariah Theodora; I'm Dionne Rain, the orphan you abandoned!"
I yelled at her. I feel like my wrath is about to devour me, but I'm not going to allow it, and I've made a conscious effort to calm myself several times.
She, too, has vanished, and when will it be completed? I'm tired of them blaming me for ruining their lives. I then saw a man, who appeared to be the same man as before, but with blue hair, and I have no idea who he is.
"Theodora, I wish you had already died in this universe!"
He slapped me across the face, but what did he mean? These individuals are getting out of hand; why do I have to tell them they're annoying when they are the only things that will persuade them to stop talking? "I hope you burn in hell now, even if I don't know who you are," I added.
"And also, I'm Dionne Rain," I said as I walked out of the room, finally releasing my worries and traumas, but I don't think it will be over anytime soon.
It was great to finally be able to silence them, and when I came across a tunnel, I grabbed the map and double-checked the directions to see where I might walk without getting lost. Was this the experiment they were talking about when I eventually reached the end of the tunnel and awoke from the room I had escaped from?
"Congratulations Dionne Rain, you're quite the bold individual," she said, laughing at me. I rolled my eyes and ignored the last thing she said about me. "I'm I Mariah Theodora? please tell me!" She laughs again, and I'm unable to communicate with her properly; these people keep misleading me, and all I want is for her to stop laughing.
"Why should I be the one to tell you that?" Isn't it true that I and your mother brought you into this world to discover your full identity?!" She stared at me and slapped me hard; she has a habit of disrespecting others, including myself, and I'd had enough of her fighting me, but my mortal self refuses to initiate another battle in this world.
"Now, go ahead, be quiet, and obey me! I knew you'd be easy to talk to in the end," she chuckled as she walked away with someone else to discuss fresh plans.
"Miss Rain, please follow me to the other room," she said, and I listened and followed her till we got there. They were talking about my life status and how they were going to alter my surname, and I sat in a chair waiting for them to stop talking and talk about what I was going to do in this literal reality. "I see Miss Rain has arrived," someone said.
I'm going to panic after a few minutes because they're going to change my surname, and for what reason? Who am I trying to hide from? They need to tell me everything; I'm going to become bored of finding all of these secrets they've kept from me, but if it's the only way to survive, I'll keep looking for secrets.
"Relax, Dionne; we want to keep you hidden until the Darkian Port has collapsed." What exactly did they imply? So I figured I'd just stay in this strange place all this time.
"Dionne Castredas, it's time for you to go into the Darkian Port terminal." Hearing my fake surname made me uncomfortable, but I was urged to get used to it, so I rolled my eyes till we arrived at the terminal, where my bodyguard was no longer present, how ironic. "I'm glad I have a map for the Darkian Port," I said as I took it out of my pockets and attempted to recall the rooms I needed to visit before returning it to my pockets and waiting for the train to arrive.
After discovering that the location I visited was the Scientific Government, scientists, biologists, and others assumed control of the so-called Darkian Island. It's amusing how they took me in and are now training me to be a fighter, but for how long? I kept questioning myself until the train came to a halt as we approached Darkian Port, our destination.
"Miss Castredas?" Someone said, "Please follow me to the Darkian Port." I nodded and followed him until we arrived at the lobby of the Darkian Port; come to think of it, there are a lot of people in this Darkian Port, and the majority of them are well-trained; I can't wait to become a fighter. Then, out of nowhere, a woman approached me with a blank piece of paper on which I was to write my information.
"Please fill in the blank page with our forum and return to our receptionist table when you're finished," she added as I nodded and thanked her before beginning to write the information in the waiting area.
I'm done filling out the blank paper with my information after a few minutes, but I'm still not used to the surname Castredas. However, I was told to keep it a secret, and I must obey this time. However, I despise Raleigh's proclivity for getting into mischief. It's quite inconvenient.
"You're ready to enter the next room, Miss Castredas." I only hope it wouldn't cause difficulty to me till I abruptly stumble into someone, a blonde woman clutching her forum and I guess she isn't finished yet. "Please accept my heartfelt apologies!" She then walks away before I have a chance to respond, what a strange woman."
I'm not sure where I am, but this area is dark and rusty, and I need to brush up on my manners before I arrive at the Darkian Port. I had no idea what I was going to do until I was pushed against the wall. Then I saw a robot trying to battle me, but I managed to avoid its fists. How could I have missed that unexpected attack? "Shit, I forgot this is a robot, not a human," I said afterwards, rolling my eyes.
I don't have a hard metal or a gun, but I noticed another board, a pistol, a button, and a massive metal in my system. I chose the gun out of all the options, and I hope I made the correct selection. "Hey!" I murmured as the robot approached me again, and I fired him, but it didn't work, and I wondered how I was going to get out of this.
I put something in my pockets, which happened to be the only item I had, a map. This important thing had to be sacrificed in order to shut down this robot. "We'll meet up soon, map," I said as I tossed the map in the direction of the robot, who approached it and saw a button to turn it off.
"Bingo!" I exclaim as I use my gun to deactivate the robot's shutdown button. I was relieved and went for another round, but this time it didn't appear to be as simple as I had expected; the room was quiet until I heard a large crack in the floor and decided to run until the floor vanished from view; my entire body hurt, but I didn't stop until I reached the final round. "Right now, this last round is going to kill me."
Then, out of nowhere, a note falls to the floor, and I pick it up, terrified that there is a deadly bomb in this room. But how could there be a bomb? I saw a bomb beside me that was about to explode, so I ran as fast as I could until I saw a couple of people wearing a uniform and black bracelets.
I collapsed on the ground and felt embarrassed, but it was not my fault that I completed these tasks in one day. "It looks like she's already knocked out, but her skills could use some work," I said, turning to face the blue-haired man who said it. He looks exactly like the man in my visions, but I didn't say anything.
"Three of you, bring her to the isolation room then bring her to her own specialized room once she wakes up." I never thought they could give me this but suddenly my eyes close as soon as I feel exhausted today. I heard someone mumbling but I cared not to listen to them.
I don't know what will happen to me. Hopefully this will end soon however in the other way around, what if this continues until the Darkian Port has fallen?
