Hannah looks at him and asks if a normal reaction to seeing them together would be to go crazy wondering what's going on. But she didn’t. Instead, she thought about dealing up their apartment and their savings. She thought, “He should pay off the wedding vendors since it's not my fault.” Hannah doesn’t like that she thought like that. They’re just done.
Cody whines at her not to say that. He didn't tell his family yet. Like that’s supposed to make her not break up. ‘Your rash decision to break up can be undone, since my family doesn’t know.’ He apologizes again. She stops him. She hates hearing people apologize. She tells him he can say it’s because of trauma. Her father ran off with another woman when she was young. She declares that she’ll never be with a man like that. They’re just over. They’re finished.
Cody grimaces and after a moment brings up that her uncle borrowed 30,000 RKW from him after H.mom’s funeral. Really? How is that Hannah’s problem? Uncle said it was funeral expenses and he couldn’t ask Hannah for it. Yeah, right, funeral expenses. Hannah reaches for her phone and Cody tells her not to call Uncle. It’s making him feel like a debt collector. Hannah declares that she’ll pay him back once she sells H.mom’s house. And that is going to be a problem, since Alvin is living in it. He protests that it’s not what he’s getting at. They’re already family. His parents think of her like that, too. Which is why you shouldn’t have stepped out on her, you jerk!
Hannah starts to laugh at how pathetic he’s being. Cody adds that she doesn’t have anyone else: Who else is there by her side but him? Hannah stands up and leans over the table. Right, there’s no one by her side. They’re a family. So much a family that he lied to her and cheated. How could they be family? She starts talking more loudly as she asks if he has legal papers stating that. Does lending 30,000 RKW make them family? They’re strangers! Perfect strangers. Not to be confused with the 80’s sitcom, ‘Perfect Strangers.’ She goes to pay and then fights with Cody when he wants to pick up the bill. I say let him.
Hannah chugs some water outside a convenience store. Cody is still there. Her cheeks are bright red. She tells him that he can get the money back from the uncle that he thinks of as family. He probably gambled it all away already. How did I know that was coming? She declares that she’s not selling H.mom’s house! She’ll leave it alone for the rest of her life! She’s starting to draw a crowd.
Cody tries to herd her home but she doesn’t want him to touch her. She yells at him that she doesn't like Ivy. Because she's pretty! She dresses well and puts makeup on nicely. She's so feminine! She doesn't like Ivy! She can’t believe that he liked Ivy’s style? She laughs bitterly and asks how much he must have disliked her all this time? She angrily asks how he can make it so she can’t break up with him in a sophisticated manner?! She notices the crowd and stumbles away. Cody sighs and follows her.
Hannah heads to a grocery store and calls Uncle, who doesn’t answer. Cody catches up with her as she picks up a shovel. She almost hits him with it. He decides to let her be. She takes a taxi out to H.mom’s house, sleeping on the way. That’s an expensive taxi ride.
Hannah arrives at Uncle’s house. She drags the shovel on the ground as she walks in the yard. She yells at Uncle, asking how he can stab her in the back. She heads over to H.mom’s house. She is comforted by the squeak of the gate. She comes across a hose in the yard and thinks it’s a snake. She screams and whacks it several times with the shovel. I hope she didn’t just damage the hose. She notices that something’s off and uses her phone’s light to look at the hose. She laughs at her mistake and asks it what else she was going to think, with it curled on the ground like that.
She uses the flashlight to light her path but completely walks by a hooded Alvin. She realizes that something was there and turns around. Standing there, half asleep, Alvin turns to look at her. She screams, drops her phone and starts swinging the shovel. She lands a blow to his leg, which sends him to the ground. Brandishing the shovel, she demands to know who he is. He groans and rubs his leg.
He stands up and sighs. He turns on the outside lights. Coming back, he flips off his coat’s hood and asks her what she hit him with. He sees that it’s a shovel. She hit him with a shovel? She warns him not to come closer and demands to know what he’s doing in another person’s house?! Instead of answering her question he starts talking about getting hit with the shovel. He avoided it because he’s good at sports! Walking towards her again, he asks what would have happened if he got hit straight on? It's a murder! A murder! She falls backward onto the ground. I have to say it right now, I love him.
She gasps and reaches for the shovel, but he steps on it. She stares up at him. He does not look happy.
She sputters that this... this is her house. This is self offense. He repeats, ‘self offense?’ because that makes no sense. Hannah hunts for the right term and finally finds it – self defense. He tells her that he’s someone who lives there as well. So, it's self offense by him. I really like this guy. She confused. He just looks at her.
