Their orders arrive, and they continue chatting over lunch, reminiscing about the good old days at college.
"I always wanted to confess my feelings to you, but I held back because of your affections for Noam," Tyler admits, leaving Arya stunned.
"I know it's been many years, but I'd like to keep in touch with you, Arya, if that's alright with you," he says, somewhat awkwardly.
She gazes at him for a few seconds, pondering how to respond to his sudden admission. Opening her purse, she retrieves a business card with her contact information and hands it to him with a smile.
"Here's my contact. You can reach me through this," she tells him.
"Wow, I'm relieved—I thought I'd be disregarded. May I ask you out on a date?" he inquires, looking at her expectantly.
"Sure, just give me a call, and we can set it up," she replies, liking the idea.
They talk for a while longer, but Arya's lunch break comes to an end. He insists on paying the bill, and she thanks him. They part ways, and she returns to the company.
Kilam had arranged to have lunch with his fiancee. After their tumultuous meal, he goes back to the company, and she follows, wanting to know why he had been ignoring her all morning. He had rejected all her calls, never explaining why, leaving her infuriated. She's causing quite a scene in his office.
"You rejected all my calls, didn't speak to me throughout lunch, and right now, you're ignoring me. What's your problem?" she berates him.
"I think it's about time for you to leave, or would you prefer that I have someone escort you out?" he retorts coldly, staring at her.
"I just want some of your attention, my love," she says, walking towards him, trying to calm him.
"Okay, you have my attention. So, my love, where were you last night that you turned off your phone?" he asks with a sarcastic smile.
"Well, I... I was with some friends," she stammers.
"Really? And why did you turn off your phone?" he continues to stare at her.
"That's because we were having fun, and we didn't want the phones to interrupt us," she says, her hands fidgeting.
"Hmm. If I recall correctly, didn't you say that people who are in a committed relationship shouldn't be out having fun with friends or turning off their phone for any reason?" He pauses in front of her, leans on the desk, and crosses his arms.
"Or does that rule only apply to me?" he asks.
"It's not like that. I only said that because when I called you, you weren't answering," she tries to justify herself.
"You know what's funny? Yesterday, when I needed someone to pick me up from my uncle's bar, they called you a hundred times, and you didn't answer. I needed you, but as usual, it was useless having a woman like you as my fiancee. Now get out of my sight before I drag you out with my own hands," he asserts, his face contorting in anger.
"Kilam, please listen to me," she pleads.
"Leave now before I end this ridiculous farce of an engagement," he commands, without even glancing at her.
She leaves the office and immediately encounters Arya, who has just returned from her own lunch. She glares at the assistant as if shooting daggers with her eyes, bumping into her sharply as she storms out.
"Hey, what happened?" Arya asks Margo.
"You missed it. She came in after Mr. Pagano and made a huge fuss. They went into his office, and all I could hear was her voice yelling. She said he ignored her all morning and didn’t say a single word during lunch," the woman whispers.
"And I get attacked; did you see how she bumped into me just to push me? Crazy woman," she exclaims, heading to her office.
Arya finishes organizing some documents, then prints contracts from Dubai. She leaves them in Kilam's office but without looking at him, then returns to her office to wrap up her day's work. After her shift, she picks up the children from her mother's house, where she finds her friend Lea.
"Hi! Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" she greets her, embracing the girl.
"I was just passing by and decided to drop in for a visit. I needed to talk to you," the woman says with a strained smile.
"Sure, you have no idea who I had lunch with today," she shares with excitement.
"Who?... Stop with the suspense... just tell me..." Lea urges apprehensively.
"Tyler Braxton," she reveals, and Lea breathes a sigh of relief.
"Can you believe he confessed to me? He said the only reason he didn't back in college was because of Noam," Arya gushes.
"Of course, that's no surprise; everyone liked you," Lea remarks with a hint of sarcasm and envy in her voice.
Arya notices Lea's reaction but chooses to ignore it, and they continue their conversation until Noam’s name comes up.
"Noam is getting married in a year," Lea states, watching for Arya's response.
"Really? Good for him for moving on. I hope he'll be happy with whoever it is," Arya responds, showing little interest in the news.
"But I think he still has feelings for you," Lea adds with a hint of sadness in her tone.
"I feel sorry for him; I've moved on. Tyler even asked if he could take me on a date, and I said yes," she laughs.
"But what if you and Noam bumped into each other? What would you do?" Lea inquires, looking intently at her.
"I'd say, 'Hi' and 'Bye.' And then I'd walk away, I don't know," Arya shrugs.
"It's good that you've gotten over him," Lea comments, looking down.
After a few more hours of talking, she leaves.
