4. The question unasked

"Let us be happy to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."

-Marcel Proust

It was now early in the morning and Elizabeth was dreading to sleep more. The bed was so soft, and it felt as if she was sleeping on clouds, she could honestly lay there forever if she could. But unfortunately she had to get up and start her day. And as well as meet with Gabe who's house she will be staying at for a while. Elizabeth was honestly looking forward to it, as she had a first great encounter with him. She was only planning on staying for a month until she could find a proper job, and a suitable home for herself. Moving into a new state was definitely not the most easiest thing, but she had a gut feeling that it would go well.

Elizabeth took a glance around the room, as the thought of unpacking sprang to her mind. When she moved she had packed too many things. She wasn't planning on going anywhere today so she would have plenty of time to do the unpacking. Elizabeth sighed and made her way to the bathroom to freshen up and take a shower.

Footsteps could be heard from the stairs, in which Gabe could figure that Elizabeth was up. It was already 8:00, and although Gabe usually was awake by 6:00 and at work by 7:00 he didn't want to leave Elizabeth by herself as he thought that would be rude and confuse her. "Oh good Morning Gabe" Elizabeth said in a cheery tone and a smile. "Good Morning" Gabe replied as he set his coffee down. "Oh are you heading somewhere?" she asked as her smile was now replaced with a confused expression as she tilted her head to the side. "Yeah, work." Realization came to Elizabeth as her eyes widened "Oh right, the small business." Gabe nodded as he was glad that he didn't leave and stayed until she woke up.

"I'll be on my way but is there anything you need before i leave?" he said glancing at the woman. "Oh no am fine, have a nice day at work" Elizabeth replied. Gabe nodded and made his way out. "Alrighty then time to unpack" Elizabeth let out an exhausted sigh and made her way upstairs.

Gabe had arrived at work, and made his way to the office. "Good Morning sir, would you like me to go over our schedule for today." Gabe's assistant John asked. "Yes please." "Okay, we have a meeting with the frank company today in an hour, and then a few forms to fill out to finalize the deal that was made last week." Gabe sighed as he looked at the papers that were on his desk. One thing that Gabe could appreciate about his employees were their professionalism. Even with his appearance, they never questioned it and also treated Gabe as their respectful boss although he could tell that they had many questions running through their minds.

"Sir, the frank company is here to see you" the counter lady informed peeking her head through the door of the office. "Alright, thank you" Gabe stated as the woman nodded and left. "let's go" Gabe said looking at his assistant who nodded. They both made their way out, and was met with four men who were from the frank company.

"It's very nice to meet you Mr-" one of the man from the frank company greeted as he had a look of shock when his eyes landed on Gabe. Gabe noticed and that same feeling rised. It wasn't the first time he'd had encounters like this. He was used to that look, that look that many had made. A look that was mixed in with shock, disgust, and what might almost seem like fear. The man cleared his throat noticing the tension now built. "It's very nice to meet you Mr.Lee" the man stated holding his hand out with a forced smile. Gabe took a glance at the man once more before holding out his hand to shake his. "Shall we lead you to our meeting office now sir" John said holding out his arm a little towards the meeting office. The man nodded, and John led them towards the office.

Work had finally ended and Gabe immediately made his way back home. For some reason, he was dreading to see Elizabeth. He had hoped that she was making herself feel more at home by now. Gabe was home and opened the door and made his way in. "Good evening Gabe, how was work?" Gabe glanced at Elizabeth who was now smiling and had plates in her hands." "I hope you don't mind i ordered food, and brought extra for you" Elizabeth said placing the plates down on the dining table. Elizabeth was busy unpacking and making the room feel more homely, she had also spend some time searching for jobs around the area. She found a few that sparked her interest and hope that she could start applying as soon as possible. "N-no it's fine" Gabe stated scratching the back of his head. He thought it was rather considerate of her offering him food, and although he wasn't hungry he didn't want to seem rude. "I'm just going to go change." Elizabeth nodded and Gabe made his way upstairs.

Soon after Gabe made his way back to the dinning room, Elizabeth had already set the table and placed Gabe's food as well. Gabe took his seat at the other side of the table, staring at the plate that was filled with noodles and sauce with chicken pieces on the side and cooked vegetables as well. "So how was work" Elizabeth asked catching Gabe's attention away from his food. "Good" Gabe simply replied, a smile appeared on Elizabeth's face on knowing his work went well and soon after they began to eat.

It was nice having someone to eat with, since he didn't have anyone else around the house Gabe ate alone. But with Elizabeth it was new, but in a good way. For the first time in a while he enjoyed his dinner. "And then he tripped over the stairs." Gabe smiled at Elizabeth who was now laughing hysterically. They had been conversing about Drake, and knowing who he was there were many silly memories that one could say about him. Gabe continued to look at Elizabeth who was still laughing at the memory as she tried to catch her breath. During their whole conversation, Elizabeth hadn't utter the question in which Gabe was expecting she would ask. What surprised him was that they had been asking each other questions and this was their second conversation and not once did Elizabeth brought up the topic. Although he was shocked, a feeling of calmness that he hadn't felt in a long time took over him. And although it was a rare occurrence Gabe had appreciated that Elizabeth left the question unasked.
