5. Mr. Kennedy

“Are you fine, Anna?” Lyra asked as she wiped of the sweat in Anna’s forehead with a tissue. There was worry and concern in her voice.

“What just happened, were you not dealing with the staffs, what are you doing here?” Anna looked uneasy and petrified. She grabbed the cold coffee that Lyra brought and gulped in one go.

“I have been here for almost ten minutes. When I came back after dealing with all those shits, you were sleeping that I did not want to disturb you. I knew after you wake up you would be so engrossed in work, that you would not care about resting one bit.” Lyra told setting some important files on anna’s table.

“You could have woken me up, you know that I have a lot of work right; and in 30 minutes we have a meeting.  Are the files ready?” Anna asked looking at her watch.

“Well, I called you, after you started sweating so badly, but you did not wake up and you started mumbling his name. So, I had no option rather than shaking you vigorously” she said, mumbling his name silently. “And the files are ready but since your assistant is on a vacation, today I will be joining you to the meeting.”Lyra told while going through all the files necessary for the meeting. Being the assistant of the Ceo was not new for her because she was once Anna’s assistant but later, she was promoted as the HR Manger.

Anna became silent after hearing what her friend just said. She was mentally questioning herself on why she was not forgetting those things or why she could not bring herself to tell everything to her parents. Sure, enough she was a cheerful girl in front of her but no one other than Lyra knew that her friend every smile was fake, once or twice a year did she smile with her heart out.

Lyra intertwined her and annas hand assuring her that she was there if anna wanted a shoulder to cry on, or to hear her too. Anna looked at Lyra and gave a genuine smile to her.

“OMG, Did I just see it right, you smiled at me. Why are you not smiling often, huh? You look hot and cute honey, come on smile again for me” Lyra told as she leaned forward to anna.

“What will I get if a smile again, huh” Anna asked as she lifted Lyras chin with her fingertip leaned even forward.

“What do you want tell me, I might be able to give if I can.” None of them was thinking of giving up on flirting with each other.

“How about a night alone only you and me in my private club on our common VIP room, drink till we get drunk?” Anna smirked as if she won, because before Lyra could tell anything back a knock was heard.

Anna leaned back on her chair and threw the finished drink in the dustbin. Lyra walked over to the couch and settled herself. They acted as if nothing happened and they did not flirt with each other. The both of their aura shifting to the work mode

“Come in” Anna told as she set her eyes on the door waiting for the person to enter. Lyra started doing her work in her laptop and reading through the progress of every department, of the current month.

The girl came in and gave Anna the copy which contained the information of the group which she was having a meeting with today. The girl did not dare to look at Anna’s eyes as her eyes were always intimidating.

“Have they reached?” Anna asked as she went through the file which was given to her. A slight smile grew on her face as she looked at the girl whose eyes were still staring down. In Anna’s eyes that girl looked like little rabbit who was standing in front of a wolf, anna titled her head and looked at Lyra who had the same.

“They will be here in 30 minutes as informed by them.” The girl answered as she looked up only to be shocked on seeing Anna staring at her with a slight smile.

“Hmm.” Anna did not seem to care of what the girl was telling rather she seemed to be so interested on the girl’s eyes.

“Then may I excuse myself.” The girl asked waiting for here approval. Anna wayed her hand indicating that she could go leave. The girl turned around, as she was about to open the door anna’s words stopped her on her track causing her to turn around and look at her.

“Next time you talk, look at the eyes of the people even if they have power and fame. Don’t hide those eyes, they are one pair of beautiful eyes I have seen till today. And u look pretty in that color because it matches your eyes.” Anna told as she again raised her head and looked at her with a slight smile.

“Thank you, Miss. Anastasia even your smile is beautiful.” The girl smile back as she excited the room.

Anna and Lyra were shocked seeing the girl's courage. They both looked at each other and raised their eyebrows. 

“Are you thinking what I am thinking.” Lyra asked with a smirk

“Are we” Anna asked as they both titled their head and turned to look at the door.

“She is cooool” Anna and Lyra told in union. 

TIMESKIP

A knock brought back Anna and Lyra to their senses as they both was engrossed on their work for over 25 minutes.

“Miss. Anastasia and Miss. Lyra, they have reached and is waiting for you both in the meeting room.”  

“Okay, you may go, we will come in few minutes” Lyra answered back.

Anna collected the file which contained a copy of the jewellery drawing that she was going to present. Her family has been doing jewellery business for generations. She took over the company 5 years ago and always made sure that if she was doing business, it would always profit both the companies.

Anna and Lyra walked into the meeting room to be greeted by her staff. She walked over and stood forwarding her hands.

“Good morning, Mr. Kennedy.” Anna and Lyra greeted with a polite and humble look across her face.

“Good morning, Miss Anastasia and Miss Lyra.” MR. Kennedy greeted back with an ugly smirk which did not go unnoticed the girls.

“So can we start the meeting?” Anna asked as she took her seat which opposite the seat of Mr. Kennedy and next to her Lyra sat. Mr. Kennedy’s assistant went forward and started the presentation.

“So, how is presentation Miss. Anastasia” 

“Sorry if I may sound direct, but as far as I can see there is not profit for our side? You want us to sell our diamonds to you, and you will make the jewellery and sell in your name? In the end the publicity goes to you, am I right?” Anna asked as a frown appeared between her eyes, which soon disappeared and she again put on her calm and cold look.

“No, no that not what we meant, even if we make the jewellery with your diamonds, of course your name will be known. You people will also get publicity so what's the problem?” He told with nervousness in his voice.

“Mr. We are not just looking for publicity, but also profit. We also make sure that a smile appears on face of all people who buy our product.” Lyra answer back with deep voice that showed how much she hated the people who only thought about fame.

“But I think....” His sentence was cut by Anna who looked totally uninterested in doing business.

“Mr. Kennedy before you speak again and make the situation worse, I would like to give you one more chance. I wish next time we meet you can come up with a better presentation.” Anna said standing up from her chair and placing a card on the table which showed her business number. Anna and Lyra stood up and walked away. As everyone felt Mr. Kennedy’s assistant walked over to him:

“We should have listened to what Sir’s sister told.” His assistant told shaking his head side to side.

“I still remember what she told, “Never go to her searching for fame and publicity, she hates those types of people, but reach to her with a goal of achieving great things and she will help you.” His sister’s voice echoed in his ears.

‘Why does she hate people who runs behind power and fame, why?’ Mr. Kennedy asked himself as he went his way.
