the movie together

They ended up watching a movie and afterwards they went back to their rooms.

After finishing all of his school work he put his pencil down and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes. His thoughts drifted back to the girl who had been walking in circles for the past few days. He couldn't understand why it bothered him so much when he first saw her, he didn't think she'd be that bad. Then she suddenly came along and ruined his perfect plan. And he just couldn't get her out of his head and he wasn't sure what to do. He wondered what would happen if he tried to talk to her, would she even listen?

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard his door open and close, he glanced over to see that his older sister had come home.

"Hey," he greeted once he noticed her walking towards him.

She gave him a quick nod and sat down across from him, "hey," she returned. "Where's mom?"

"I think she went out for a walk," he replied casually.

"Oh."

"So, how was your day?" he asked curiously, tilting his head slightly.

She sighed, "not very exciting."

He tilted his head the opposite direction, "oh really? What did you do?"

She shrugged, "went to school. Went shopping."

"For what?""I dunno, stuff," she answered vaguely.

"What sort of stuff?"

"It's none of your business."

"No, you're right, it isn't, and I'm sorry," he apologized, raising his hands defensively. "But, uh, you know, it is kind of fun having you here, even if it's only for the week or something like that, and you are always here, sometimes you stay for days, that's cool."

"Yeah, thanks," she nodded, smiling slightly. "I guess, yeah, it is kinda nice."

He smiled at her. "How is practice going anyway? I haven't seen you in a while."

"Not great," she mumbled, frowning slightly.

"You should cheer up, come on," he suggested, "it can't be that bad."

She sighed and shook her head, "I don't wanna."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm miserable," she sighed and crossed her arms, pouting slightly.

He frowned and furrowed his brows, "why?"

"Well, because..." she trailed off, thinking for a moment. "My dad found out that I broke up with Shigeo, so he made me spend a whole week in here instead of going to practice."

"Oh,"he muttered sadly, "I didn't know that. You don't look very happy about it, either."

"I'm not."

"Are you sure you don't wanna do something?"

"I'm not interested in doing something."

"Why not?"

She paused for a second, then exhaled, "he won't stop talking about it."

"Talk about what?"

"The thing."

Kageyama paused and turned to face her slightly, "the thing?"

She nodded. "He keeps asking me why I broke up with him, but he's just so obsessed with the fact that I did it because of Shigeo that I can't bring myself to tell him that I just lost interest in our relationship."

"That sucks," he said with a small sigh.

"And now my dad wants to move us out of the house and somewhere else."

"Huh? Why?"

She shrugged slightly. "Because he says I've been neglecting my studies, and apparently I need to learn how to focus on my own shit, which I don't particularly care about and just want to go to practice tomorrow."

"Oh, okay," he responded calmly, nodding.

"Yup."

"When will you be moving?"

"Next weekend, probably."

He nodded again. "Cool. Okay. That sounds nice."

"Yeah. It does."

"Good."

They both fell silent after that and Kageyama continued staring at the blank screen of his laptop.

Chapter 3

A little bit later, the door opened.

"Oh, hello, Kageyama!" his mom called out.

"Hi," he mumbled and stood up from where he had been lying on his bed. He walked towards the doorway and peered around it.

"Have fun?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Good."

"Thanks," he sighed, turning away from the doorway and shutting it again as his mom walked over to him and took him into a hug. She kissed the top of his head before pulling away and walking back over to the couch. "So, are you gonna come sit?" she asked, motioning towards the spot next to her.

"In a minute," he muttered. "Um, what are we watching?"

"An old English series, it's a comedy so I'm not too familiar with it, but I think you'd enjoy it," she shrugged and smiled.

"Okay," he nodded.

Kageyama sat down on the other side of the couch and leaned his elbow onto the backrestHe stared at his lap as his gaze wandered around aimlessly, he kept hearing a lot of footsteps coming up the stairs and then going down the hall, then it stopped, there was silence. He assumed that his brother was in his room. His parents weren't currently around to keep an eye on them, which meant that they were left completely alone.

There was a sudden knock at the door, startling Kageyama. He jumped slightly and quickly straightened his back up before he turned to look at it, and then glanced over to his sister. Her expression was calm, but still rather worried.

"...Come in."

As she stood, she approached the door. "Hm, okay," she hummed, opening the door. A middle-aged man walked in and smiled at Kageyama's mother.

"Hello, dear."

Kageyama's mother offered him a gentle smile before she spoke, "hello," she greeted. "Would you like anything to drink?"

"Nah, it's alright," he assured, glancing down at Kageyama briefly.

Kageyama looked away from him, looking back at his lap.

"So, I assume that you're moving out of the house then."

"Y-yeah."

"Oh, okay."Bye Mom," he mumbled quietly, trying hard not to let his voice crack or give himself away.

"Goodbye, sweetie," she said, giving him another smile before heading back to her seat on the couch.

He looked back at his lap, and slowly lowered himself down.

The man stood there silently and awkwardly.

Kageyama closed his eyes, feeling slightly uncomfortable due to the awkward atmosphere between his parents and him. After several minutes, the man cleared his throat.

He snapped his eyes open and turned his gaze to the man standing beside him.

"Ah, um... are you alright, son?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, um," the man stuttered nervously. "Your sister told me that you're moving out soon, so I wanted to make sure that you're actually alright before I send you off to your new home, is that okay?"

Kageyama nodded and averted his gaze again, not knowing what to say, "yeah, that's fine, uh, thanks, I guess."

"Alright, well then, I guess I'll be going," the man said and started walking out of the room, leaving without saying goodbye.

Kageyama remained sitting on his bed.

"What the hell was that about?" his younger sister asked
