Episode 5

My favorite place in this mansion is the garden, well, it's the only place I actually know.

I've been locked between these four walls for so long, from time to time I can see the light of day thanks to this window, if I ever get out of here alive I will always recognize that thanks to that simple white window I stayed sane, because it allowed me to see a little of the outside.

Regarding Elias, I haven't seen him since he hit me, he always sends me the best food with his employees, but I always end up rejecting it and for the same reason I've lost a few kilos.

Today is the day, I had artificial insemination two weeks ago, and today will be the day they force me to take a pregnancy test to find out if there is a baby growing inside me.

"Miss Parker," Sara peeks her head through the door of the room. "Come with me."

"You know you don't have to call me 'Miss'," I make quotation marks with my fingers.

"I know Mia, it's the habit," she says smiling at me.

In this short time Sara and I have started to form a friendship, when she comes to bring me food we always take the opportunity to chat, she always tells me about what it's like to work for Elias and how complicated things get from time to time while I tell her what it's like to live locked up in a single room.

"Where is Mia!" we hear from the ground floor.

"Do I have to go down?" I ask Sara.

"Yes, and you better do it now before Mr. Walton gets angrier."

This is the first time I will leave this damn room, in part I am glad to know what the place where I am is like, but there is also a bit of fear because just hearing the tone of voice with which Elias shouted I know he is not in a good mood.

I take a big breath of air, close my eyes tightly and with fear inside me I walk towards the door where someone grabs my arm forcefully.

I open my eyes again and see Elias who looks at me in a frightening way.

"When I talk to you, you have to obey immediately," he indicates while he puts pressure on my arm.

"You're hurting me," I said with a broken voice.

Instantly he releases my arm and that horrible look disappears from his eyes.

"They are not so noticeable anymore," he assures confusing me a little.

"How?" I questioned keeping my eyes on the floor.

"The blows," he takes my chin and raises my head slowly. "They are not so noticeable anymore."

"What did you need me for?" I ask avoiding the subject completely, I prefer to forget that day.

"Do you know what this is?" he shows me a blue box that he has in his right hand.

"Pregnancy tests," I replied with certainty.

"I guess you already know what to do with them, right?"

I nod while I take that box and enter the room again.

"Don't even think you'll do those tests alone," he says following me. "I'll be present."

Without protesting I allow Elias to enter the bathroom with me, as Sara said the first day we met, it is better to obey than to end up underground.

I open the box, take out the two pregnancy tests that came inside and leave them on the sink.

"Would you at least give me privacy to urinate?" I asked while seeing my reflection in the mirror.

"Don't delay much," he puts his hand on my lower back. "I'll come in when you're ready."

When Elias leaves the bathroom completely I take out the instruction sheet and start reading it while I have one of the pregnancy tests in my hands.

If that test is positive I will be chained to Elias for nine more months.

And if it comes out negative I will end up like the other girls, dead.

I uncover the pregnancy test and start to immerse it in my urine for a few seconds as indicated in the instructions, then I cover the test again and leave it on the sink.

"It's done," I said leaving the bathroom. "In a few minutes you will know if your objective was achieved."

"Is the result already there?"

"In five minutes," I replied leaning my body near the window.

He gets up from the edge of the bed, enters the bathroom to take the pregnancy test and contemplates it in his hand for long and eternal minutes.

"Positive," I hear behind me. "Mia, you're pregnant."

Suddenly and without warning I feel strong arms around my waist.

"Thank you for making me a father," he says over my ear causing me a shiver.

I remain silent while I look again at the garden through the window.

"Will you let me free?" I finally asked.

"When you give birth you can be free," he assures.

"What will happen to the baby?"

"Don't worry about the baby, he will stay with me," he announced releasing my waist. "Now follow me, you will be the future mother of my son and you need to know the place where you will live these nine months."

"Will I leave this room?" he nods and takes my hand.

I walk behind Elias who still keeps my hand intertwined with his.

When I leave that cave where I was imprisoned for so long I observe everything around me, I didn't think this place was so big, in addition the decorations that are there look too expensive and fine so much that I am afraid to look at them and wear them out.

"We'll have a party today."

"Party?" I ask frowning.

"It will be something small, it's to celebrate the pregnancy."

"But..."

"No buts Mia, in this mansion what I say is done, not what people as insignificant as you say," he expressed interrupting me.

And here we go again, the kindness that Elias showed when he saw that positive pregnancy test has just completely vanished again and that terrifying look fell on his green eyes again.

Being chained to him for so many months will be difficult, I'm sure of that, but at least I will be free after bringing new life into the world.
