The Science
MaZula
MaZULA: "Oh my god!"
She yells, tugging at Commanders jacket, showing he tore it along the side of the seem. She stands at a healthy 4'7" to Commander's 6'4 so she sees things he'd never know.
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: He looks down to what she was showing him.
"Oh, shoot, I didn't notice,"
He looks down in surprise wondering when he did that, lightly grabbing it.
MaZula
MaZULA: "You must love ruining your clothes' why do you do this to me?"
She waves her paws, floating over a small metal box.
"I already have to work with all those self absorbed scientists all day, and you want me to do more here at home?"
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: His ears lower a bit.
"I'm sorry, Zu-zu,"
MaZula
MaZULA: She looks up to him, then a smile stretches across her face.
"You're fine. You do a lot. I'm sure the good you do is worth it,"
She opens the small box, revealing a sewing kit.
"I can never stay mad at you, now take everything off okay?"
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: He begins to strip down to a tanktop and underwear.
"Where are the kids?"
MaZula
MaZULA; "Their in the play room,"
Responding to him as she begins work on the tear in the suit.
He leaves his wife to her side project and heads to the second floor of his home. Jogging upstairs and opening the door to the play room, revealing his two little girls; Mika and Tena.
They both look to him and with widen eyes yell "Daddy!". Mika, still unable to fully walk begins to speed crawl over to her father as Tena runs over.
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: "My little babies! You adorable little bundles of joy!"
He hugs them both tightly.
"You didn't give mommy trouble when she got home from work did you?"
The oldest one, Tena, Looks at him and smiles. Replying with; "Nope!"
COMMANDER: "Good, good. Mommy works hard,"
MaZula
MaZULA: She walks into the room smiling at everyone.
"You missed daddy?"
The two babies smile and yell, "Yes".
"I always miss daddy,"
Commander smiles to his wife as they share a moment. Then after a bit of play time they all go downstairs for dinner. Tena plays with her food while Mika eats hers no problem. They all sit enjoying each other's company. MaZula goes over her work office gossip and other things. As does Commander, they both share how they both have to deal with some idiots around the work space.
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: "Oh, guess who I saw today,"
MaZula
MaZULA: She chews and swallows the food she had in her mouth,
"Who?"
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: "Petra! She runs the M.T.F. now!"
(Medical Task Force)
MaZula
MaZULA: She looks surprised.
"Oh really? They let a woman lead a huge team like that?"
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: "Oh yeah!"
He says grabbing another mouthful of food.
"She went above and beyond and outranked everyone who tried out for the position. It was her versus 4 others and she was the best fit,"
MaZula
MaZULA: "She's gonna make it easier for woman to get better positions like that. I just wish we had more female Heros in general,"
COMMANDER
COMMANDER: "Well maybe Tena or Mika can become the next best things,"
He looks over to them smiling.
The next day we follow MaZula to her job at Riley Labs, a science facility devoted to make the world a better and more advanced place. She, herself is a highly ranked scientist. But despite her incredible intelligence, because she is a woman in 1947, she goes mostly unnoticed. Though that does not slow down her progress.
She was able to find a more affiicient fuel source. She converted water into energy for all. Though the actual science is super complicated, she made it work to better the world.
Miscellaneous Character
Scientist: walks over to MaZula's small office and peeks his head in.
"Mrs. Lankton do you believe you can do a power point for the Loopa's visit today?"
MaZula
MaZULA: "Dr. Lankton. And. . .Loopa?"
She seemed a bit confused. Dropping her bag on her desk.
"Didn't we just pass a qualification a week ago?"
Miscellaneous Character
Scientist: "Yes but, we need some more money for a big project Alex is trying to do."
MaZula
MaZULA: "He loves doing projects doesn't he? Wait no I have to work on the Energy project with Dr. Yami."
Seemingly getting a bit irritated.
"Can't anyone else do that dumb crap? An intern maybe?"
Miscellaneous Character
Scientist: "I don't trust an intern to do it. You do the best presentations. Please, please, please, please, please?"
MaZula
MaZULA: A loud and deep sigh flows out as she reluctantly nods, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"Okay fine, fine fine. But I'm not devoting my whole day to this bologna. I have to work on my projects too,"
Miscellaneous Character
Scientist: "Of course, of course, thank you so much,"
he turns and leaves the room.
MaZula
MaZULA: She plops down at her desk and turns on her computer in an annoyed manner.
Sadly this is what all the male scientists do to her. They always swap MaZula with remedial and tedious tasks such as this because they believe certain tasks need a. . . "females touch" they say. But instead of letting that annoy her, MaZula dives into it to rid herself of the task to get back to her own personal project.
After devoting roughly 2 hours on the power point, she decides to take a short break to grab some coffee. She get up and heads to the lounge.
MaZula
MaZULA: She strolls into the lounge area and bumps right into someone.
"Off!", she quickly recovers and looks up. "Oh I'm sorry!"
She looks up to see the young scientists, Alex Anthony White.
Alex A. White
ALEX: He looks down to the small bunny. His expression emotionless and tone almost robotic.
"Oh, apologies Mrs. Lankton,"
MaZula
MaZULA: "Doctor. . . Dr. Lankton," She corrects him.
Alex A. White
ALEX: "Oh no," He replies.
"You're very right. Dr. Lankton, apologies."
MaZula
MaZULA: "Anyway, your power point for Loopa's presentation is ready, I'll email it to you,"
Alex A. White
ALEX: "Thank you, doctor. You work fast,"
He begins to examine her fully.
"Wait, Dr. Lankton? You're working on Project "E" right? With Dr. Yami?"
MaZula
MaZULA: "That's me,"
Alex A. White
ALEX: "If you ever have time I'd love to pick your brain on that, I never seen such detail and care put into a project,"
MaZula
MaZULA: "Oh," surprised, despite his robotic, almost dead like tone, she could tell he was being sincere.
"Uhmm, of course. It took years of research and trial and error,"
Alex A. White
ALEX: "Considering it's up and running, I'd say more trial than error,"
MaZula
MaZULA: She blushes, feeling super proud to hear that from one of the best scientists in the building. Being recognized for her hard work.
"Thank you, Dr. White,"
Alex nods to MaZula then walks past her heading down hall to his office. MaZula's head follows him, still surprised that she was just praised more or less. After working there for 4 years, most other scientists just give her a pat on the back or just outright don't recognize her work. But to have the best guy in there love her work makes her feel huge.
Alex A. White
ALEX: He sits at his desk dropping his messenger bag beside his seat. Turning on his computer and sips his coffee. He opens up his email and starts sifting through everything, picking certain ones to reply to.
His cellphone vibrates in his pocket.
He takes it out, the caller ID blocked.
"Hello?", he answers.
"Yes," . . .
"After noon," . . .
"Of course, I don't mind doing that,". . .
"Yes of course, but I do believe something can be done,". . .
"Of course, I'm sure I can figure something out. I'll get a friend to work with" . . .
"Yes, yes. Of course. Yes, I'll let you know soon". . .
"No problem. Good bye, Grandfather,"
He ends the call and shoves his phone back into his pocket and goes back to reading emails.
