Chapter 1

I was in the palace's library, and it was almost midnight. I am so sleepy as this work must be finished and submitted to the assistant secretary tomorrow. I'm a technical writer, and I've also written so many books that have been published by people outside the palace. People in the cities are reading my novels, and I see it whenever I go.

My new published story has been known to people, and they have been reading it. No one knows who's the writer; my name as a writer is different from my personal name.

My author's name is Yan Yuan, but hey! I'm quite famous by that name. However, I live in this palace as a technical writer, and I cannot go outside as much as I want to. I was being appointed by the Queen Dowager as the Director of the Auditing Team, but I refused that work, which disappointed my family and made everyone else hate me too. I refuse her majesty's request because that's not my passion and I want to be free from my worries. I don't want to get involved in politics.

My father was the General, a prime minister in the palace; his surname is Jian. My mom was a not-favored concubine, and she also died when giving birth to me. In this era, some of the things in the palace change, such as the carriage and many more. but the tradition still remains.

My grandfather was the former Grand Secretary, and my grandmother is the former assistant of the Great Grand Empress Dowager. I sang a song and will keep doing my job. I was busy until I heard footsteps.

Is it my sister's paid assassin? Nah, I'm used to it. Yes, I do have a sister, but they treated me like I was not their sister; instead, they treated me like a punching bag.

They always bully me, but I just ignore them. I'm the concubine's daughter; that's why they treated me like this. I stopped singing when I didn't hear any footsteps. I rushed out to see what was outside, but I saw nothing. So I go back inside. Well, I'm almost finished. I have to submit this tomorrow early in the morning because it will be needed by the prime minister.

When I finish the task, I put it in the brown folder to make sure it is safe. I should bring it with me. 

I walk towards the door, open it, and walk outside. I locked the library, and then after that, I left.

I'm in my room, or should I say chamber for me? This chamber is far from the main mansion of the palace. This is in the garden and I almost forgot that tomorrow is my grandmother and grandfather's anniversary and that they will be holding a banquet. Sure enough, lots of people will go there. I have to prepare a gift for tomorrow after the submission of this project.

"My lady, please wake up as you have an important appointment this day." eyes are shut but ears are listening; I'm still sleepy. I got up and stared blankly at the floor.

"What time is it?" I ask my servants.  "It's almost 7:00 a.m., and you have to report and submit the project this morning at 9:00 o'clock, and after that, you have to go to the banquet this morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Jian Manor for the anniversary of your grandma and grandpa," said my assistant.

"Okay," I said. This is okay because I have to buy a gift this morning and then go to the office to report and handle the project. I wash and then do my routines. After that, I do my morning rituals in the ancestral hall to pray. After that I looked at my watch and saw that the time was 7:45 a.m., so I hurriedly left the ancestral hall and then went to the imperial shopping mall. I have access because the Queen Dowager gave me a VIP card.

My driver drove me to the mall, and as soon as I reached the mall, I hurriedly left the car.

I know my grandparents' favorites. So I went to the ancient things. As I walked outside to the mall, my assistant saw me and the driver, so they helped me out. though it's in the cart, but heavy as we reach our car. We put it in the trunk and then left after we settled.

The driver slowly drives as I remind him about the things I brought. I checked the time, and it's already 8:25 a.m. as we arrive inside the palace's parking lot. I take the stuff outside and bring it into the room with me with care. Of course!     I can't afford to see any cracks, or I'll be doomed if my grandparents see the cracks, and they will be disappointed in me. As I reached my room, I put it in the corner of the floor to make sure that nothing would happen.

I open my drawer and get the brown folder to submit, but unexpectedly, I feel dizzy, and my eyes are blurry. Something isn't right. I need to deliver the folder. If I can't do that, I'll lose my job. So, even if I'm sick, I need to work hard for my living and support myself financially. As I found my folder, my eyes went black, and there was nothing. I don't know what's next..
