When coming out the murder protagonist will always wear a mask so the FL didn't know his face and that the person she love and hate is the same person.

the murderer self got jealous everytime he will hear from the mouth of the FL that he love the other one and not him, a criminal. therefore he tried to control the body instead, but he is just an inner thoughts of the original and when he realized this he tried to hurt the body.

the kind protagonist is not interested in love life and he already decide to become a monk long ago, but his otherself actually fell in love so in the end he let the murder came out if the FL is near and he will hide in the darkness with holy beads on his hand.

this secret was keep deep inside them until they died..... the end.
