It had been an hour since Jed had left, but she remained seated on the couch, cursed couch almost made her mate like an animal, although it wasn't the couch's fault. It was Jed's fault, he didn't let her think, and five years of abstinence didn't help either.
She continued to ponder what he had asked her, and his confession about the abortion issue. Could it be that she had misunderstood him? Although it didn't seem to matter to him that she had left, and if he was right, Stefano would reproach her for not having his father by his side. But what kind of example would a jerk and womanizer be? She decided to go to bed, but the result was the same; she couldn't sleep because she couldn't stop thinking.
She decided to get up and tidy up. When Stefano woke up, they could enjoy a day at the beach.
Jed was having breakfast, reflecting on what had happened, if Isabella had changed so much. Things weren't turning out to be so easy. To make matters worse, her father was not very happy. Jed had been avoiding his calls, but he wouldn't be able to continue dodging them. On the other hand, he had found out that Marixa was the person who had sent the photos and videos to Isabella, which led him to suspect that she had also sent the messages. He still didn't have the evidence, but she was the only person who knew about Isabella and could have access to her phone, so for now, he asked for her to be watched.
The phone rang again; he looked at the screen, it was his father. He decided to answer.
" Ciao, Papá."
" Finally, you show your face! Tell me, what have I done to deserve such an irresponsible son? How could you abandon my friend's daughter like that?"
" Wait, Dad, calm down. I couldn't marry Sofia. I have another woman, a son."
" A son! Bring me my grandson."
" It's a bit complicated, Mom doesn't want to. Talk to Berni; he says there isn't much to do, but I'll solve it."
" You better solve it. Bye. Victorino hung up the call."
As if Jed didn't have enough to deal with, now his father would pressure him too. He decided to meet his son, who was at the beach with his mother. He had reinforced his son's security. He would have to change tactics, keeping his hands away from Isabella, assuming he could do that.
Isabella watched her son running towards the waves. It was so beautiful to see him happy. She took pictures of him with her cellphone. She had noticed two men following them, to her surprise. She recognized one of them from a gas station stop. She was somewhat on alert.
She looked towards where the men were and saw a tall, handsome man in shorts and a t"shirt with sunglasses walking towards them. Damn Jed Salvatore, he would never get rid of him. But for the first time, she was thankful that he showed up. She didn't like those men at all. Why did Jed have to be so handsome?
" Something interesting caught your eye?" Jed asked, noticing Isabella's gaze.
" Don't be arrogant. Those men over there are following us. I know I've crossed paths with one of them before."
" I'll go talk to them," Jed said, even though he knew they were Stefano's bodyguards. Isabella grabbed his arm. "What do you think you're doing? They could harm you."
Jed didn't expect her to worry about him. He tamed a few rebellious strands of Isabella's hair behind her ear and couldn't bring himself to lie to her.
" Those men are Stefano's bodyguards," Jed confessed.
" Is our son in danger?" Isabella asked, searching for Stefano with her eyes.
That "our" sounded so beautiful, Jed thought. It was the first time Isabella included him in their son's life.
" Don't worry, Stefano is fine. It's just a precaution. To be completely honest, I was worried you might run away with him."
Isabella looked at him, surprised. "I have no intention of running away anywhere. I like my life too much to leave it for you."
Jed went to speak with the guards, they were not supposed to be seen.
"Sir, we approached because a man seemed to be bothering the lady," said one of the guards.
"Alright, go grab something to eat. I ordered two tables for myself, you can order whatever you want, I'll pay for everything," replied Jed.
"Thank you, sir," the guards said gratefully.
Jed returned to Isabella, and little Stefano ran into his father's arms.
"Look, Jed, I collected many seashells," Stefano exclaimed.
"But you have such a large collection already," Jed observed.
Isabella watched them, noticing their striking resemblance.
"The sun is too strong, we should go," she said.
"But Mom, I want to stay at the beach," Stefano protested.
"Your mom is right, it's not good for you. I invite you to have lunch, and then we can take a walk in the forest," Jed suggested.
"Will we search for dinosaur bones?" Stefano asked excitedly.
"Of course, son," Jed murmured.
Lunch was very entertaining. Stefano was fascinated with his father's rented car, which looked spectacular.
"I want one like that for my room, Mommy," Stefano said.
Jed smiled, realizing that with just one smile, the boy could get anything he wanted from his mother. Isabella couldn't say no to him.
They had salad and fish for lunch, while Stefano chose a hot dog with fries. Jed was unsure about what to order but to please the boy, he decided to have the same, although he wasn't convinced it was healthy. After lunch, they returned to the cabin as it was getting hot. Stefano wanted to go to the pool, and Jed told him he would take him there, but not before entrusting him with the keys, wallet, and cellphone. Jed promised to keep a close eye on him. However, 10 minutes later, Isabella found herself walking towards the pool, not far away. She spied on them through the bushes as Jed never took his eyes off Stefano, despite a couple of girls trying to get his attention. She felt a pang of jealousy watching Stefano having fun without her. What if he stopped loving her? She decided to dismiss that thought. Once she was reassured that everything was fine, Jed returned to the house.
"Do I have a very good mommy, and you?" Stefano asked.
"I also had a very good mommy, and now she watches over me from heaven," Jed replied.
"She died, and you were left all alone?" Stefano wondered.
"Yes, it was a long time ago, but I wasn't left alone. I have two sisters, and a dad," Jed explained.
"I don't have a dad. I wish I had one. I have Uncle Julian, and I wish I had a little brother and a dad," Stefano expressed.
"You actually have a dad," Jed said.
"Do you know him?" Stefano asked.
"Yes, but your mom has to tell you where he is," Jed said.
Stefano was curious and wanted to know everything. He was also very affectionate and often hugged Jed.
"I want to go with my mom," Stefano declared, and they set off.
Back at home, Isabella took a shower. Until now, Jed had been behaving well. Should she give him a chance as a father? She was in her room, combing her hair when Stefano burst into the house, shouting. Worried that something had happened, she hastily left her bedroom.
"Mom, mom!" Stefano exclaimed.
"What happened?" Isabella asked, examining Stefano to ensure he was alright.
"Jed knows who my dad is. Who is my dad?" Stefano shouted.
"What did you just say?" Isabella asked, glaring at Jed.
"Calm down, it's not what you think. He was asking about my family, and it came up. I didn't say anything," Jed explained.
"Mom, who is he?" Stefano continued yelling.
"Calm down, Stefano. Let's sit down. Jed is your dad," Isabella said, looking at her son.
