Chapter 4

I wonder how my school life will turn out....Will I, an introvert, even fit in? Or will I depend on Kai again?

It's too late to regret now...but I hope my school life will be pleasant. I could not handle a chaotic one.

"Are you ok sweetie?"

"Yeah...uhh...dad, you think I'll make it through the school year?"

"Of course you will Dex, at least your mom and I believes you can"

"Gee, thanks"

"Don't worry....we will miss you by the way, come here my baby"

"Dad I told you I'm not a baby" I said pouting.

"Well yeah you're not but you're our baby"

"Haha...ok fine. I love you both."

"We love you too sweetie."

I gave one last hug. Too bad mom wasn't here. She's busy with stuff. Let's see.....where's the classroom?

"Yeah obviously I am"

"Wait wait wait, you're studying here now?"

"Yeah"

"Ehh? Ehh?? EHH??? Really? That's great!"

"Kai you're too loud"

"I'm sorry I just can't help it. I can go to school with my little dove from now on. Who wouldn't be excited?"

"Well yeah can't blame you but...should we keep our relationship a secret?"

"No way, I'll proudly say what our relationship is than keeping it from them. It will make us feel less nervous you know. It'll just be a big burden to you and to me as well."

"Ok, If you say so"

"You agree? Hahaha"

Come to think of it...I haven't seen Kai smile this wide before. He almost look like he has no eyes....haha cute.

"Why didn't you tell me ahead you were going to school?"

"Surprise....I guess"

"Well, I was surprised but I'm happy, so happy"

"Haha, I feel the same but right now, I'm nervous"

"Oh yeah this is your first"

"What class are you in?"

"4-2"

"Oh? So that means we're in different classrooms. That's sad...I wanted to be classmates with you."

"Geez, not like we don't see each other everyday. Please guide me to my classroom because I have no idea where it is."

"You're proud?!"

"Just bring me there"

"Fine fine, just stop glaring at me"

"Thanks"

Kai seems to be clingy these days...it's almost like he's afraid someone might steal me before we even get married...Nah I must be imagining things.

"Thanks Kai" I gave him a peck on the cheeks.

"W-wha...what are you doing? -///-"

"Giving you a kiss?"

"D-didn't I tell you not to do s-something that makes me unable to control m-myself? Y-you know that k-kiss counts..."

Huh this is new. Why does Kai look cuter these days? Did something hit him in the head?

"Thanks again, I'm going in now. Bye!"

Well this is awkward...I know no one here. Ugh I hate being an introvert! I should've had lots of friends by now.

"Uhh hi are you new here?" An unfamiliar voice...(well obviously, I know no one so it's unfamiliar)

"U-un..."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Ashlea"

"Likewise..." We shaked hands.

"Since your new here, I assume you have just a little knowledge about this school?"

"Y-yeah"

"Want me to help you?"

"Please take care of me, Ms. Ashlea"

"Please, drop the formalities, I'm no one big here. I just find you rather....pretty and interesting."

"Yeah. Why the short hair though? You're a girl right?"

Seriously......do I have to repeat myself all the time?!

"I'm a guy" I smiled sarcastically.

"You are?! Ahh sorry, really sorry, I thought you were."

"I-It's fine, I'm used to it"

"Used to? So people have been thinking you were a girl?"

"All the time"

"Haha forgive me."

"It's fine."

"Anyway, were friends now right?"

"S-sure"

"Great, let's hang out from now on."

She doesn't seem too bad....

"Dexter, Dexter Layton. Call me Dex."

"L-L-Layton?!? You mean one of the famous companies?"

"Woah didn't know another big shot would school here"

"Another?"

"Oh yeah right...Dex this is Mitch and this is Hugh."

"Mitch, Hugh this is Dex"

"Geez, this is the life of nobles huh. Just call me Mitch"

"Great! Since we now know who's who, you should come eat with us Dex. Waddya say?"

"Sure...I guess"

"Yes! New member in our circle of friends" Ash yelled.

"Preside- I mean Ash lower down, we don't wanna disturb the students. That's not how a student council member should behave ya know."

"Mitch, stop nagging ok? I get it...chill. Hugh you should try making her blush so she would have fun from time to time."

"W-what? What's that g-gotta do with me always nagging?"

"If you start liking Hugh then you would be a normal person and not a workaholic. You should understand that already."

"W-wha- Ugh fine I won't nag anymore and Hugh....Don't you dare......"

"Hahaha" I couldn't help but laugh. I thought student council people were strict and serious...

"Woah Dex....even your laugh is pretty. I'm jealous..."

"Ahh- no- I-it's....a habit. I just laugh like that but rarely. I don't really laugh."

"That's even more surprising...I'm jealous"

"Ash just say you're jealous about everything else." Mitch said.

"Shh don't spill the beans. I told you to keep that a secret!"

"Anyways, Enjoy your school life Dex, hang out with us okay?"

"Sure"

This is actually.....nice. So this is how it feels to have friends aside from Kai...

"Dexter Layton, 9 years old. You can call me Dex. Please take care of me."

"You may sit."

"Dex, you were nervous weren't you?"

"Are you perhaps an introvert?"

"Yes I am"

"So that explains it..."

I didn't know the council president was allowed to whisper in class....

"Don't worry you got us."

"Now please read the sentence on Pg. 32 on your book, miss Davis" The teacher said.

Davis? I feel like I've heard that somewhere...Ashlea stands up and read.

Ashlea? Ashlea Davis? Huh....It suits her well.

"Everyone is instructed to read carefully the schools handbook. Especially the school rules and regulation." The teacher added.

"I'm amazed you survived that long introduction of our school."

"Huh? What happened to those who didn't survive the introduction Mitch?" I asked.

"They were either sent to detention or clinic because of the heat, others get sleepy, others aren't allowed to stay under the exposure of the sun, so they faint."

"Yeah, the seats were permanent. So the students have no choice but to stay where they are seated right now" Ash added.

"By the way, why is Hugh so silent?"

"Oh don't mind him, he's like that every time he reads a very intriguing book. He's so immersed in it so you could say he doesn't care about the outside world."

"Is that so?"

"Now, what and where are we gonna eat?"

"Staircase"

"Hmph you guys suck, Dex they're so rude right?" Ash says hugging me.

"Ahh haha...people are different." To be honest, I have nothing to say...

" *eating* So...is this you first time going to school Dex?"

"Y-yeah...prez you should eat that first."

"So, you've never been out until now?" Hugh asked.

"Oh he's back. How's the trip." Ash asked in reply.

"It's awesome. Anyways...you've never been out?"

"Yeah, but Kai visits me all the time."

"Wait what? Kai? HUH?? You're friends?"

"Y-yeah why?"

"Two big shots as friends...amazing...you were friends since when?"

"Since our mothers gave birth to us."

"Oh that's nice- WAIT WHAT?!? You were friends since you were born? Why not tell us?"

"It's nothing big so i thou-"

"Of course it's big news! What if we kidnapped you and tortured you. Of course Kai's family and yours will come after us!"

"Prez your heart's too weak for that, we never do such things and...DON'T DRAG US IN YOUR SILLINESS!"

"Speak of the devil." Hugh said.

"Dex! I've been looking all over for you!"

"Kai? What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just missed you." He suddenly hugged me.

"O-oi my friends are here you know."

"Oh hi, I see you've befriended Dex, thank you for taking care of him."

"Kai, what's with the hug? You never once hugged anyone" Mitch asked.

"Oh that, Dex is my fiancé."

" *spits food* F-f-fiancé?!?"

"Prez! That's gross!"

"Oh sorry....You're engaged?"

"Y-yeah...a lot has happened haha...I'm sorry I haven't told you"

"No no it's fine, I was just surprised that's all. Congratulations on your engagement by the way."

"T-thanks"

"Dex, you're gonna hang out with them?"

"Yeah, I know no one in class so I hang out with them."

"That's sad...I can't even be with you in our break time"

"How about you join us Kai?" Ash said.

"Yeah, you're part of the council anyway." Hugh added.

"You're part of the council Kai?"

"Ahh haha sorry Dex."

"It's fine...so you're gonna join us?"

"Sure!"

"Great, this view will be amazing."

"This is the only thing I agree with you Prez" Mitch replied.

"E-ehh?? A-ahh...Kai and I don't really-"

"No need to hide it Dex, us fujoshies must have our eyes blessed"

"F-fujoshies?"

"Yeah, it is a reclaimed Japanese term for female fans of manga, anime and novels that feature romantic relationships between men. You haven't heard?"

"No...I don't really read and if I was given, It's always about history."

"Yeah Dex loves stories about history, He's always curious."

This bastard forgetting I was there! Meanwhile Ash and Mitch were there giving me the You should thank me later look.

"Dex you're turning red, are you ok?"

"Of course I am you Idiot!" Oops I said that out loud.

"Are you mad? What is it- wait is it because of the wife?"

Look away look away, don't show him your face.

"It is the wife! Are you embarrassed?" Gah, he knew.
