Chapter 1: Meeting with Kai

2nd of May, this was the day I met him...The person I never thought would have a special place in my heart. Dexter Layton here by the way, son of the happiest parents in the whole world who treats me like a girl because of my face...As kids, I don't have the slightest idea about what I was feeling towards him. Getting nervous when we were alone, feeling butterflies in my stomach in every simple thing he does, stutter sometimes. Those at least, are the only things I know I do around him. It's crazy 'cuz I asked my mom about it without mentioning it was me, there I knew what I've been feeling towards him.

I HAD A MAJOR CRUSH ON HIM!

At first I didn't like him, even though our parents get along so well but since they've been getting along, we've been left alone all the time. Strange, instead of playing with the toys our parents give, he was surrounded with books.

It was pretty awkward already, I wanted to break the silence so badly but I can't. I admit I'm an introvert. Talking to other people confidently was just part of my imagination. Every time I see one, I hide. I've been homeschooled so whatever happens outside was out of my concern.How do I talk to him? I thought. I mean It's hard to ignore someone sitting close to you.

"You've got something to tell me?"

"A-ahh n-no I-ah I just um-"

"Break the silence? You should've done so earlier"

"You were thinking the same thing?"

We both laughed at our cowardness. I never knew he was as timid as I was.

"I'm Kai, Kai Morrel."

"Dexter Layton, Dex is fine"

"Dexter...cool name. Let's be friends."

"Just to make sure, you're a guy right?"

"Of course! Why would you be troubled over my gender?"

"Ah no It's just that you have a pretty face I thought you were a girl"

Having Kai over was fun, I've never been outside so this was my first time playing with a friend. Then I thought to myself, maybe I should take this secret to the grave. I mean isn't it just disgusting to find out a guy likes you when your also a guy? I'm sure Kai will feel that way. It's kinda expected though. Why'd it have to be him out of all people? Is it because he's the only friend I have? Do I really like him? I'm having mixed emotions right now. All I know is that my heart beats every time he's close or nearby or even when we make eye contact.

"Sorry for taking most of your time to visit us here Linda" Mom said to Kai's friend.

"No no, thanks for having us over" She replied.

"Feel free to come over again, you're always welcome" Mom said waving her hand. They waved back and Kai...he smiled at me.

"You sure had some fun huh? What's got you smiling beautifully like that sweetie?"

"Oh I-um...uh we were talking about our...crushes! Kai brought pics of his girl buddies around here" Well, it's not really a lie, Kai did bring pics of his girl buddies.

"Ooooohhh is that so? I didn't know Kai likes someone in our neighborhood."

"Yeah..." Does he really?....it hurts when mom said it though...actually it's possible. Should I ask next time?

"Oh right! Dex sweetie, I have a gift for you"

"What for? It's not my birthday or anything"

"Well yeah but just close your eyes"

"Alright..."

"Ok 3...2...1... open!"

In front me was a very beautiful necklace, the pendant was an orchid.

"Mom this..."

"Yes an orchid, your favorite" She said with a smile.

I hugged her tight. "Thank you so much mom"

"Now look at me sweetie, I want you to remember this. Listen carefully. Whenever your dad and I are on business trips or meetings, I want you to hold this close to you and think of us, can you do that for me? Mommy and daddy will not be here all the time so you might feel alone. You can also call Kai over if you want"

"Mom I will cherish this, I won't let you worry about me all the time. I will visit Kai if I want to. I don't want you to be worried about me not going out anymore."

Mom burst into tears and hugged me tightly. "My baby grow up so fast"

"Mom I'm not a baby anymore, I have Uncle Li here."

"You're right, you're right. Thank you sweetie."

A few minutes after our heart to heart talk with mom, dad arrived. "Honey, I brought something you'd love"

"Love? What else could I possibly love aside from you both?" Mom went to where dad was

"Here. Look."

"Wow, it really is what I love, Dex sweetie come over here for a minute!"

"Coming!"

"What is it?"

"Please wear this for mommy, just this once pleeeeaaassseee"

"Mom, it's a dress"

"I'm fully aware of that"

" *sighs* Alright\, alright. Don't come in\, it's embarrassing"

I could hear mother clapping her hands like seals, is she that excited seeing me in a dress?

"Done." I went out the room.

Both my parent's eyes widen. "Wow, Dex you look gorgeous" Dad said.

"No honey, he looks stunning" my excited mom said to dad.

"I d-don't feel uncomfortable i-in th-this"

"So you mean, you'll allow me to buy these dresses?" Mom asked with sparkling eyes ready to scream for joy.

I nodded slowly. As expected, she was jumping with joy even dragging along dad.

"Sweetie you don't know how happy I am right now when you agreed."

Seeing them happy was enough to make me smile. I was telling the truth when I said they weren't uncomfortable.

"Oh how could I leave you all alone"

"Mom, uncle Li will guide me."

"Li, please keep an eye on him at all times, if he gets even a scratch, you can prepare for a punishment"

"Mom, it wouldn't be uncle Li's fault if I get hurt, so please don't get mad at him"

" *sighs* Alright\, please Li take care of my son while we're away"

"Very well madam, I shall protect young master with my life" Uncle Li said.

There's no need to go that far though...

"Uncle Li, let's visit Kai"

"Would you prefer I drive you there young master?"

"No no, I will walk there, I need to get used to the outside so I won't worry mom."

"Well said young master."

"If you want, you can stay home uncle Li, I'll go alone"

"Forgive me young master but the madam has ordered me to keep an eye on you at all times. My job is to ensure the safety of the young master. So I'll go with you"

"Fine"

"Hi umm...may I come in?"

I could hear the maid talk to Kai's mother and father. "Madam, Sir, the young master of the Layton residence has come"

"Let him in!"

We went in the Morrels mansion.

"Hi aunt Linda"

"Oh my cute cute nephew welcome, please take a seat. Have you walked all the way here? You've been sweating"

"Yes"

"Li! How could you let him walk?"

"The young master has ordered we walk instead of driving him here"

"It's fine aunt Linda, it's just a visit."

"Oh Dex, you're pretty just like a girl, and you're nice and kind too. My son would be so lucky to marry you."

"M-m-m-marry!? Is that not disgusting?"

"N-no, it's just that, your son is a boy, and so am I"

"And what's wrong with that? Gender does not matter, as long as you love each other. Unless you don't like my son. I will not force my dear nephew."

"Umm....aunt I think it's way too early for that..."

My aunt is just way too obsessed with me.

"But if you change your mind, my offer still stands. I will prepare a meeting with the Laytons directly if you do."

"I-i'll keep that in mind"

"You're here for Kai, aren't you?"

"Y-yes, my mom and dad's on a business trip, they told me if I ever felt lonely at home, I could go visit him."

"My, my poor nephew, I will call Kai right away! Diana call the young master please."

"Yes, my lady"

"Dex! You're here!"

"Y-yeah haha..."

Dex ran to me and hugged me. Again, my face was blushing hard. I hope he does not see it.

"I heard about your arrival, I was really nervous and excited to see you..." Kai looked away scratching his head.

BOOM! My heart, gosh why is he like this, why is he so cute. DEX stop thinking, stop thinking, he was nervous too...I'm glad I wasn't the only one.

"Yeah me too..."

"Come on let's take a bath first"

"B-b-b-bath!? T-t-together!??"

"Yeah, what's wrong? We're both guys and you look like you need a bath, you're sweating tons."

That's exactly why I hate myself for ever liking you. Even bathing together, that's just too....Argh! Whatever!

"O-ok"

"Young master your bath is prepared."

"Thanks Diana"

I could see Diana's face clearly she was blushing, wait wait wait, Diana are you thinking about something that's never going to happen to us? Are assuming we would do something like that? Does she likes seeing boys together? Aaah there's nothing between us. And I don't think there ever will...

"Come on it's warm"

Gosh, my face is too red right now, my body's stiff. I went in the tub with him. Buried half of my face with water. Kai started talking.

"I heard you walked here?"

"Yeah"

"Why? Why not let your butler drive you here"

"I want to be familiar with the outside world"

"I see, so that's why. I'm proud of you." What he said echoed in my mind sent chills down my spine. That's when I finally plucked up the courage to ask him. "Kai...is th-there someone you l-like?"

I could see him smirking. What's so funny about that?

"I do like someone"

Huh, so he likes girls after all...wow now my heart's been crushed by my crush.
