If Only (Childe x Lumine ft Melody)

"What will it take for you to care for me? Should I become like Melody?" Lumine says as she held onto Childe's trousers, kneeling down in front of him "If I do, then will you call my name dearly like you do hers, and watch me with warmth in your eyes? Will you look at my direction... without giving me those cold glares?"

Childe looked at her with disgust in his eyes "Such a thing won't happen until the day I die."

Lumine froze for a minute "B-but why is that? I'm the first one, Childe.. I was by your side much longer than her." she said as she looked up to Childe's cold eyes with tears in her eyes

"You fool."

Lumine took her hands off Childe's trousers and covered her face as she kept crying

"There was never a day I considered you as someone special in my life"

Childe walked away leaving Lumine knelt to the ground, she was too stunned of what happened, she can't move nor talk, she felt herself being numb

After that day, Lumine didn't even went outside her room, she gave up on caring for everything, she didn't eat for days, she wasn't talking to anyone including Paimon. She prefers to be alone and fight battles alone

Being the famous outlander, news of her spread all out in Teyvat in just matter of seconds and that only made her feel worse

"Lumine!" someone yelled while throwing pebbles at her window, Lumine woke up and let out a little groan as she stood up and look who is disturbing her sleep, her chest tightened when she saw who's calling her

It's her, the girl who Childe loved the most, smiling and waving at her

Lumine changed into her everyday clothes and went down to meet her, as soon as she went down the stairs, Melody eventually hugged her "hey the news is spreading across Teyvat and I rushed here to see you" Melody exclaimed as she break the hug and looked at Lumine, Lumine looked confuse, she doesn't know what Melody was talking about. She went from Snezhnaya to Liyue just for her and not her fiance? She held her forehead as she felt her sight blackening and the world turning around, she felt sick and almost lost her balance, luckily Melody catch her on time. Melody scanned Lumine's body and she knew that Lumine wasn't eating the past weeks, she doesn't know the reason why but she does know that she wants to help, she convinced Lumine to go with her and eat, Lumine refused but she insists so bad that Lumine can't say no

After a few minutes Lumine and Melody went to a Wanmin Restaurant and now ordered their food, while waiting Melody took out a small envelope in her bag and handed out to Lumine who is now staring at nowhere "I want to invite you to my birthday next week, I expect you to be there so don't say no" Lumine let out a heavily sigh as she accepted the letter and Melody squealed with joy then hugged her, she was so happy she's coming but what Lumine didn't know is he danger she's about to face in that day

Melody's birthday came and she was so stunned to see Lumine walk in her room with an off shoulder, high low sky blue dress. She looked so beautiful in her new outfit and Melody hugged her bestfriend "I knew you will come" Melody looked at her as she breaks the hug "well a good traveler knows how to keep their word" Lumine smiled as Melody chuckled

The two were having fun until Childe walked in the room "baby!" Melody stood up and hugged the ginger haired fatui, Childe's eyes widen when he saw Lumine in her outfit, he hates and likes her being here in the same time, Childe kissed Melody's forehead "should we get going princess?"

'Princess.. Ah the memories, Childe used to say that to me, he originally calls me that' Lumine thought for herself as she stood up and walked through the door, ignoring the both of them

The party started and Lumine was no where to be seen in the venue, in fact she was outside, staring at the beautiful sky Snezhnaya has, she smiled so peacefully while saying the words "I wish we could be together again brother, take me away now, I don't want to stay here longer"

Lumine stood up and felt an arrow targeting her, she luckily dodged it and wielded her sword "show yourself!" she yelled and all she heard were rustles , she consciously look around her as she tighten her grip on her sword, she saw a shadow at the bushes and decided to go there, she was about to touch the bush when the shadow appeared behind her and when Lumine is about to turn, she felt a sharp pain in her chest, she was stunned, she wanted to warn everyone but she can't scream, her body refuses to do such a thing

Meanwhile in the party, Melody came to Childe with a pouty face "what's wrong princess? Aren't you enjoying your party?" Childe asked and Melody crossed her arms "I can't find Lumine everywhere, she told me she was going to grab a drink but never returned, can you find her for me?" Melody used her baby voice for Childe to do what she asks for and she smiled naughtily when she made Childe agree to what she asks again, she gave him a kiss on the cheek as she went back to attend to her guests

Childe looked for Lumine everywhere and she is nowhere to be found just like Melody exclaimed, he stepped outside of the venue and breathed in the fresh air when suddenly he felt someone's presence, he summoned his bow and arrow and started to shoot everywhere he suspects that there is spying on the place, when he felt that there is no one around, he was about to walk inside when he saw traces of blood, he curiously walked the direction of the blood and his jaw dropped when he saw Lumine lying in the ground and was covered with her own blood. Childe's hands were shaking, he can't move or take another step, he was horrified, he looked at Lumine expression and he was surprised that she opened her eyes and she smiled at him "Childe" she whispered as she extended her hand out for him, hoping he would accept it and sit close to her for her final breath but Childe remained standing, still giving her the disgust look but deep inside he couldn't stand the sight of his childhood bestfriend, dying before his eyes

Lumine's smile grew wider as her tears escaped her eyes "Childe I want you to take care of her okay? Don't hurt her, I'm sorry for all those times I clinged to you, I'm sorry for all the troubles I caused you, I'm sorry for barging in your life, I know you wished that you hope you didn't even know me, now do it okay? Pretend that you didn't know the girl who liked you so much, pretend that you didn't know the girl who made your life miserable, instead think of her and always her okay? I'm just going to sleep but I won't wake up any longer" she chuckled

"shut up"

"w-what?" Lumine looked at Childe, clenching his fist as he went down to her and carried her in his arms "you are not going to die so stay awake"

Lumine's tears escaped her eyes once more, she never felt this ever since Childe met Melody which is 10 years ago, she never felt special up until this moment she's about to have her last breath, she leaned on Childe's chest and she felt her eyes slowly closing as Childe was running to the nearest city, looking for a doctor

They stopped at the front of Childe's family doctor, he was about to knock when he learned that Lumine finally closed her eyes, Childe was crying because he couldn't believe that his best friend had left, he fell down on his knees and hugged Lumine's dead, cold body

"Lumine, wake up.. please?"

"Lumine open up your eyes, don't leave me here.."

"Lumine! Please open your eyes!"

Childe's knees felt weaker as he yells those words, his hands were shaking as he lay down Lumine on the cold snow, tears uncontrollably escaped his cold lifeless eyes, he reached for her hand and gently kissed it "I'm sorry, only if I knew your pain.. I'm terribly sorry.." Childe whispered underneath his breath as he kissed Lumine's forehead and hugged it for the last time
