Investigation Begins

Adam spent a sleepless and

restless night thinking about Anna. He slept for mere two hours at night and

had swollen eyes in the morning.

He just took a cup of black

coffee for breakfast and reached office early.

Anna came at 9 am right on time. When

she entered the office, Adam was resting his head on his table. She cleared her

throat to make him realize that she was here but he didn’t respond. She said

softly, “Good Morning Adam.”

He still made no movement. Anna

was now stunned. She went near him, softly pat on his shoulder and said, “Adam,

are you okay?”

He woke up and sat up in a jerk,

then said nervously, “Hi, good morning… sorry I fall asleep.”

Anna tittered and said, “It’s

okay. Don’t apologize.”

Adam also smiled. He then added, “I

couldn’t sleep well last night.”

Anna said, “No problem, please

get some coffee before we go to take the interview.”

Adam nodded and called the peon

to bring two cups of coffee.

Anna opened her computer and printed

the interview questions she wrote for Henry’s teacher. Then she asked Adam, “Here

are the interview questions, please take a look.” Then she handed the papers to

Adam.

Adam said after reading the

question, “Well done, all are open ended question, we will be able to gather

useful information.”

Peon brought the coffee, both

drank their coffee and left the office at about 11 am.

The school was about 20 minutes’

drive away, their interview was at 12 pm but they left early. They reached the

school at 11:30 am and waited for half hour for teacher in the waiting room. The

teacher came in the room at exactly 12:03 pm after finishing her lecture.

She was a middle aged lady

wearing pants with a white shirt. She had clipped her hairs backward and

applied a very little makeup on her face. She said after entering the office, “Hello,

I’m Lisa, Henry’s teacher, I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.”

Anna and Adam stood up from their

chairs and Anna replied, “Not at all, you are right on time. Thank you for

allowing us to interview you.”

She smiled, sat on the chair in

front of Adam and Anna and said, “No problem, I just have half hour break,

please start the interview.”

They started the interview: “What

was the behavior of Henry at school?”

She replied, “He stayed quiet all

the time, several times he was punished by teachers for not participating and

answering the questions. I personally asked him why he would not answer question

but he simply replied “I’m sorry”. Our coordinator also called his parents but

they never showed up.”

Adam was writing the whole

interview because teacher didn’t allow the voice recording.

Anna asked next question, “how

was he in studies?”

She replied, “He was good in

studies till grade 1. But since last two years he stopped studying and he

passed the grade two with lowest possible grades. I called his parents and his

father assured that his grades won’t be like that in grade 3. But in grade 3…

he died.”

Teacher sighed and tears fall

from her eyes. She cleaned her tears with a napkin and apologized. Anna patted

her hand and said, “It’s okay, I can understand that it is hard for you.”

She replied, “I treat all my

students as my own kids, I didn’t know what he was going through.”

She burst into tears. Anna gave

her water and pacified her. They couldn’t ask all the questions but they asked

most important ones.

Teacher told them, “He had no friends, he didn’t play or talk to anybody. I asked

him to make friends but he never did… He sometimes had bruises on his arms and

face, when I asked him about them, he said he fell down while playing.”

Teacher gave the whole interview

in tears, Anna was also emotional shaken by the things teacher told about

victim. She remembered her past self. This victim was reflection of her past.
