Creation of Celestia

“Ugh!” My back smashed against the tree, the snowstorm sweeping us all away. I pushed myself up, from the corner of my eyes I could see a blizzard starting to surround the warehouse, trapping everyone that was still inside.

“What the hell..?” Cyrus couldn’t help but gasp.

“That vampire is bad news, this power isn’t normal...No vampire that we’ve encountered so far can control nature like this.”

“...A natural disaster.”

Both Leah and Cyrus gulped at my words, comprehending just how dangerous the world has become with a vampire who can tame nature at will has arrived.

“We need to get out of here.” Leah ran towards the unconscious hunters that were knocked out. She grabbed them by the arm and used her body to support them. I did the same as I went for the person closest to me as we retreated back into the forest.

The 8th ward raid was a fail due to the arrival of stronger vampires that was out of our league. During that night, the Vampire Hunter Organization gathered two intel. One was the appearance of a Disaster Vampire - a vampire with nature affinity, and that artificial vampires where under production.

Because of that, the HQ had been buzzing with activity. Everyone was busy trying to locate the Disaster Vampire after that night, such a dangerous person could not be left alone. Second was that the Government where trying to find who was supplying the vampires, and which companies were cooperating with them.

All teams that took part in the operation were ordered to have a week of rest, therefore we were stuck at the house. The mission Simon ordered us was temporarily postponed too. I still haven’t told anyone my conversation with her prior to the raid.

I covered my eyes with my arm. Everything felt too conflicted. That woman had told me her intentions, she was here to deal with the vampires causing chaos here in our world. She has proven that she wasn’t lying when we went to take back Marcus. She had intervened, purposely giving us information by confirming that the vampire that bit Marcus was artificial. If she was on their side she wouldn’t have announced such a confidential matter to the hunters.

The other problem was that I couldn't possibly tell my teammates about what I know, that the human-like vampire was the same Disaster Vampire that the organization has labeled as a five grade danger. Fortunately, I was the only one who recognized her due to her voice. I don’t think she intend to reveal her normal identity to the organization unless she wants to get captured.

I took my phone from my pocket when I felt the vibration. Luis messaged me to go to the lab, apparently Simon has something to say. It’s been a week since I last saw him.

I sighed and quickly did as I was ordered.

When I entered the lab, my teammates were already there. Leah stood with tense shoulders, her fists clenched hard. Cyrus was warily sitting down with Luis beside him, while Samantha stood casually at the side with her arms crossed. I frowned at the tense atmosphere in the air. What's going on?

"Ah! Cain, you're finally here." Simon greeted me when he saw me entering. "Come here."

I quickly moved towards them, freezing on the spot when I saw who was in front of Leah. There sat the woman who's been pestering my thoughts this past week. What was she doing here? Sitting there so openly without a care in the world. Doesn't she know how dangerous this place was?

"Sit down, Cain." Simon motioned for the empty seat.

I reluctantly sat down, looking at Leah worriedly, her obvious contempt against the vampire showing clearly. "Now that you're all here I can start explaining. I expect you all to act like rational adults." Simon started Leah down, who gave up a second later and dropped her body down beside me. Not trying to hide her dislike about the situation.

“First of all, I think an introduction is necessary. This is Leah, the captain of the team. Luis and Sam both work for me. That man over there is Cyrus, while this is Cain, I'm his legal guardian.” Simon introduced me, although I don’t think it's necessary to tell his guardianship over me. “They are a team that works under me exclusively.”

“It’s nice to meet all of you,I’m Rei.” She flashed us a smile. “So Professor, they’re a unit under you, yes?”

Simon nodded his head. “That is what I believed I said, Miss Rei.”

“So you ordered them to follow me around? As expected from a well known professor. Although I must say, I am quite curious about how you knew I was a vampire.”

Simon laughed, “Us hunters have our way of knowing who’s who, Miss Rei.”

Rei tilted her head, her smile unwavering. “Is that so?”

“And why are we here again? Why did you call us here, Simon?” Leah cut off their conversation. Glaring daggers at the vampire who easily brushed it off. Wow, her talent to remain unbothered in this kind of situation is quite surprising. Here she was sitting at enemy territory acting like she’s just having tea on a normal day. Does anything even bother her?

“Like our original goal, I had made a contract with Miss Rei.”

“WHAT?” Leah stood up, “Are you out of your mind, Professor? Wasn’t the mission originally supposed to capture her and force answers out of her mouth? Why is a vampire sitting there so leisurely as if she owns this pace?!”

“Calm down.” Simon sighed, “That was the plan originally if she was a danger to humanity. However, Miss Rei has never shown any hostility nor did any antagonistic act against society. More than that, Miss Rei is willing to cooperate with us against the vampires.”

Leah scoffed, “And you believe her words?”

“Who do you think I am? Of course I’ve taken countermeasures to make sure it doesn’t result in that.” Simon stood up, I know it's hard for you Leah, but not all vampires are the same as you think. Besides, this might be our only lead against the vampires and take the upper hand for once. You want to end this sooner, don’t you? If you cooperate without complaint, peace might come sooner than you think.”

“And you believe that I’ll accept that thing just like that?”

“You will.” Simon spoke sternly. “This collaboration will be held under the utmost secrecy. Miss Rei will be staying with us to keep an eye on her, and your team will secure her movements.”

“Why do we have to keep this a secret, Professor?”

“Just like Leah, I’m sure the organization will be against this. If we let our personal feelings get in the way, we will never move forward towards our goal. I am someone who’ll do whatever it takes to reach that goal even if I get my hands dirty in the process.”

“Do you all want to stay like this? Going on a never ending loop where the vampires lead you around like a fool? Do you want to keep fighting forever? If it weren't for the Disaster Vampire we wouldn't have known that the enemy has also been using technology to create artificial vampires. With this, we can finally take a step ahead.”

“...Even if you say that I won’t change my mind.”

Simon sighed as if he was fed up dealing with a child. "I'm not going to force you to accept it right away, but I request you to give it some time and think this through rationally. If you won't accept till then, I will have something to do about the team.

I couldn't believe my ears, was he seriously threatening her?

Leah nodded silently and stormed off, before I could rise up to follow after her Rei spook from in front of me.

"I think you're forgetting about the other members, Professor. Are they okay with this development?"

"If it's for our research then I'm okay with it."

"...I don't mind." Sam spoke first, followed by Luis.

"I-I want to have some time to think this through…" Cyrus got up from his seat and followed after Leah without another word.

"I'm sure you'll agree to this, right Cain?" Simon smiled at me. I lowered my gaze and subtly nodded. As always, Simon decided for me once again. My personal opinion did not matter when it comes to his research. "I'll personally put you in charge with Miss Rei, I don't think Leah would do a good job about it. Besides, I trust you more than anyone."

Rei's lips curled up into a smile, "Please take good care of me."

Simon dismissed us after that, I stayed behind to hear more about his orders. He gave me a key, it was the key to Rei's apartment. According to their agreement, Rei has to give up some of her privacy and be under constant surveillance by me. He told me to lead her back to her home and make sure she didn't do anything funny and that I should report to him at once if I find anything suspicious.

I wanted to know more about the agreement but it didn't seem like he'd elaborate any further. It was a story for another time.

When I excused myself, Rei was leaning on the wall, probably waiting for me. The corners of her lips went up, "Shall we go?"

I nodded and led her out, she quietly followed after me. Conveniently, her place was close by.

"Aren't you gonna ask me anything?"

"I'm sure Simon knows what he's doing."

"Do you trust him a lot?"

I paused for a moment. There are times where Simon seemed odd or that he was acting doubtful, but at the end of the day, whatever he does was still for the good of everyone. "...Of course."

She chuckled, knowing that I faltered for a second.

"Don't you think this is dangerous? Vampire hunters taking custody of the 'disaster vampire' while they earnestly search for her. Isn't it ironic?"

"I don't know what you're after or what you intend to do, but I'll make sure you won't run around rampantly."

"What can you do? You can't use that weapon, what was it called again? Cetas? Intelligence, soul, heart, mind, the core of a vampire. Don't you feel guilty knowing that you're using a person's very being to kill others?"

"Shouldn't it be fair? A life for a life for a person who has lost theirs."

"And yet you can't use it. I wonder why that is?"

I clenched my fists, why was she poking around with me? Does she want a rise out of me and take advantage of my weakness?

Just then, she laughed softly. "Hey Cain, do you think I'm a bad person?"

"...No."

"What makes you say that?"

"Just a hunch."

"Then do you think all vampires are evil?"

I remained silent. Of course I believed that there are good vampires out there, after all not everyone is the same. People have the tendency to have colors. They are ruled by their colors. Some are white, like Leah. While others were grey like Rei, people who have both good and bad equally in them. While others are completely under their black color, like the vampires attacking our world.

"Ah, I think I know the answer." She chuckled, reading right through me. "That's probably why you can't use those weapons. Your heart is good."

"And that will be your downfall."

I know that already. I was too kind for my own good, too trusting towards everyone to the point of getting taken advantage of. Perhaps even now, the people around me had me dancing on their palms. It was frustrating, troublesome. I couldn't do anything because I was weak. I lack power, I don't have strength. And I probably didn't have the resolve to hurt the people around me even if it ends up hurting me.

I want to get stronger, but I'm sure it's not my time yet. Soon, I'll face my weak points head on, but not now. All will come on their due time.

Rei's apartment was quite decent for a woman living alone, she said she had only recently come here, so how did she manage to afford her necessities? Was it a part of their contract too? There was so many questions I wanted to ask, but I knew I shouldn't.

"Here," Rei handed me a book.

"What's this for?"

"It's a part of our agreement doesn't it? Although you ditched me."

I inspected the book closely, the cover of the book was similar to those of you see in movies where the book was extremely ancient. The *Creation of Celestia*. The title was scribbled elegantly, I have a feeling I should handle this book with utmost care.

"That book is a family heirloom, so take proper care of it. I even went out and trouble myself by stealing that."

"Why would you do that?"

She grinned mischievously. "For your trust."

I eyed her suspiciously. Wasn't this woman quite obsessed with me? "Why do you want my trust so badly?"

"Well, my instincts are telling me that you out of everyone should be on my side as an ally, you're not the type to betray me and our interest align. Let me warn you, my instincts are never wrong." She boasted with a smirk.

"...Sure." I said skeptically. I didn't know what she was after but I'd be a fool to believe that. "Then I'd get going."

She waved goodbye and I was out the door a second later with the book on my hands. I wonder if I should show this to anyone? It's probably better to keep it with me for now considering the heavy air around the organization lately. Besides, I don't know if this book had any legitimately in them, this could probably be pure fiction. It would be troublesome for everyone to believe the words that weren't true.

The house was quiet when I got back, Leah was probably at the training area trying to take out her frustrations through exercise. Cyrus was probably here somewhere. I locked myself in my room and immediately opened the book.

*The Creation of Celestia*.

*Humans, vampires, and other creatures has been around since the beginning of time. No one knows who came first, what was known was that they all existed at the same time*.

*Vampires where creatures of the night who overpowered anyone. They are strong beings who didn't abuse their powers, perhaps this was why the Goddess Alina has loved them*.

*Despite their good nature, vampires were under constant despair through their need of blood to survive. Fed up, they had called out day and night for the Goddess to heed their wish. Thus, she gave them the cure to their suffering — wisteria*.

*Through this flower, their thirst was quenched. They no longer needed blood to survive. With this peace came to them, vampires didn't harm other creatures to respect the gift the Goddess had given them*.

*As time passed, their terror was forgotten, and humans had progressed greatly. Vampires who couldn't harm humans where taken advantage of, captured and tortured for entertainment*.

*At once, the dark had come after them once again, years of pain and contempt had piled up and tainted their beings. The Goddess was in pain to see the creatures she had loved treated so horribly. She came down to the mortal realm once again, forsaking her divinity she gave them one last gift she could offer them*.

*The Goddess created a new world, going against every will of the universe with her decision. Celestia was a world especially made for the vampires and other creatures who had suffered cruelty. Her powers then spread out, giving birth to Celestes. Who, like her, had the power to control the world*.

*Celestes had one mission, it was to keep peace and order, and to not let the mistakes of the past be reapeted. A border was then created to seal off both worlds, where only the Celestes and the descendant can access the gate*.
