I walked over to the same Bush, the same Bush that I had seen the rose.
Just as I had thought.
There were a few drops of blood on the rose. Something was wrong with this place.
"Something wrong, Lady Enworth?"
I was startled, but I regained my composure and looked at the person wh had just spoken to me.
A middle aged woman, dressed in simple black robes. But she emitted the confidence of a high born.
"I'm sorry if I startled you, dear. It's just that, you remind me of myself when I was younger. Trust me when I say this, no woman has ever had the guts to back answer my son."
The only person I had back answered was Prince Damien.
That meant only one thing, she was his mother, the queen.
"You have not startled me, your highness." I answer bluntly.
"I like your confidence, just like your mother."
"How do you know my mother?"
"We had studied together, ah, the good old days we had."
My mother, and the queen, studying together? It felt impossible, but why would the queen lie about it.
"I never......I never knew about this your highness."
"Of course you wouldn't, your mother rarely talked about me. And one more thing dear, what's your good name?"
"Justice Enworth, second born to the house of Enworth."
"Justice, what a lovely name." The Queen pronounced every letter in my name, and then let out a satisfied sigh.
"As much as I love talking to-"
"I seem to be stopping you from exploring the gardens, please to get on your way, but first take this and do not open it, give it directly to your mother."
She hands me an envelope, a plain white envelope with golden borders.
"I do hope to see you and your mother for tea tomorrow."
With that, she left me alone with the envelope in my hands.
"Mother's gonna be happy about this, pfft, receiving an invitation from the queen to join her for tea."
I mumbled under my breath.
The queen was so interested in me, that it felt weird. Did she want something from me?
How did she know I was an Enworth without me telling her my name at first?
Why did she want me to give my mother letter?
And most importantly, why did she invite us for tea?
Nothing made sense at all. I tried to put things together, but it seemed impossible.
The queen knew my mother?
It all felt really weird. I wanted to believe it, but a part of me thought she was lying.
But I always overthink situations, there is no problem in having tea with the queen. It's just a cup of tea, and probably some biscuits. Nothing else.
I just love to overthink. But something doesn't make sense.....
"Stop overthinking." I whisper underneath my breath.
It's just a cup of tea, a cup of tea In the audience of the Queen. It's nothing big, nothing can possibly go wrong....
Right?
