In the midst of a discussion, Damon, donned in a suit, nervously hosted a crucial meeting in the conference room. However, his expression transformed with excitement upon receiving a call from Alice Abigail, prompting him to instruct, "Arrange the highest level of reception for our guest; I will be down shortly to welcome them personally."
After hanging up, an electrified Damon addressed the conference room, "This meeting will be postponed, as there is something urgent I must attend to."
Leaving behind this statement, Damon, disregarding the astonished expressions around him, rose from his chair and promptly exited the conference room. Famon hastened along, briskly walking while ensuring his attire was impeccable, as if preparing to meet an eminent guest.
His subordinates were left dumbfounded by the display, as Damon, typically stoic, had never before been witnessed in such an animated state. Their curiosity piqued about the individual Damon was so eager to meet.
At the entrance of the High Build, Alice closed her phone with a bemused look. Being tasked by Mr. Damon to arrange a lavish banquet to host Erwin was wholly unexpected.
The young security guard, presuming Erwin's identity was disclosed, pointed triumphantly, asserting, "Your true colors are showing, aren't they? I told you a loser like you couldn't possibly be Mr. Damon's esteemed guest, go back to delivering your parcels!"
"You're fired!" Alice's temper suddenly flared, berating the foolish guard for not only his lack of self-awareness but for rubbing salt into the wound; firing him was the logical step.
"I'm fired, why?" The stupefied young guard couldn't comprehend the turnaround. Wasn't the loser supposed to be the one cast out? Why was he the one being dismissed? Could it be that Erwin truly was Mr. Damon's honored guest?
This realization struck the guard as he looked at Erwin again, his gaze filled with such astonishment he was rendered speechless, while the older security officer silently sighed in relief, grateful for not interfering, lest he be dismissed as well. Erwin, indifferent, paid no mind to the young guard's predicament.
"Mr. Erwin, please come in. Mr. Damon will shortly arrive to greet you in person," Alice said, lowering her stance, because anyone who could elicit such a personal and opulent welcome from Mr. Damon was no ordinary person. Having worked with Damon for many years, she knew that less than ten individuals were accorded with such treatment.
These select ten held high statuses and positions, individuals she dared not offend – a clear indication that Erwin was of similar importance.
The two security guards were shocked anew upon witnessing Director Alice's deferential treatment of Erwin, especially upon learning that Mr. Damon was personally greeting him. In their 3 to 5 years of service, the occurrences of Mr. Damon directly welcoming anyone were exceedingly rare, indicative of Erwin's significant stature.
For the young guard, all hope for his job was lost, leaving him to rue his actions.
Erwin, too apathetic to engage with their drama, followed Alice into the building. She directed him to the first-floor VIP room, a space reserved for the most consequential guests embraced with opulent decor. Only individuals of high status were admitted here.
Upon entry, a receptionist clad in a chic black skirt and office shirt came forward to assist but was stopped by Alice's hand. "Continue your duties, let me take care of it."
The young receptionist was perplexed, wondering what could possibly be the identity of this man to warrant personal service from the company director.
Before she could grasp the situation, general manager Damon himself arrived breathlessly, showcasing his fear of the VIP waiting anxiously, an unprecedented sight for the receptionist who had never before seen her general manager personally welcome anyone since starting her job.
"What kind of person has arrived today that even Mr. Damon would personally welcome him?"
Erwin was indifferent to these details, leisurely sipping the drink that Alice had specially prepared for him. At that moment, Damon knocked and entered.
Upon sighting Erwin, Damon approached with enthusiasm, eagerly extending a handshake to Erwin. "Young Master, your arrival has been eagerly anticipated~"
Witnessing the usually stoic general manager Damon act subservient before Erwin left Alice astounded by the drastic change.
Realizing his demeanour, Damon straightened up and coldly commanded Alice in his habitual manner, "I'll take it from here, go to my office and bring the Lafite that I've been saving for years."
"Of course!" Alice was stumped once more – wasn't the referred Lafite the wine Mr. Damon had treasured for years, too precious for him to consume himself? Even the previous visit from the mayor did not merit its serving, further solidifying Erwin's eminent status.
Alice exhaled in relief, thankful she had not spoken rudely to Erwin, or she might have been the unfortunate one today.
