My Vengeful Goddess
"Why did you let her die, father?" He whispers under his breath as tears fell from his lifeless eyes.
In an area where dead bodies are piled up of one another, it's eerily silent hence his voice didn't come out as a whisper. But standing on the grounds of a battlefield, there should be sounds, isn't that right?
However, this battle ended abruptly with her body falling from the sky which rejected her. When soldiers heard their generals surrender, most have different reactions.
A thousand or so lost the strength in their knees and knelt on the ground. Some looked like roaring carnivores but expressed emotions that were bottled up. Then those same ones carried their injured comrades to a medic.
They even questioned why this war even happened: "Was this all children's play?" spoken in a dispirited tone.
...
This figure he identified as his father, lowered then shook his head. Seeing how she fell and wasn't able to catch her lifeless body; ached his heart.
"I believe heaven declined her request and fully banished her corrupt body," he explained in a monotone.
The young man wearing armor whose design looks similar to a knight's and his sword pierced onto the soil and blood mixed ground. He looked around and saw a wasteland and a stack of cold bodies.
With his remaining strength, he rose from his feet and grabbed his father's black coat. His nose is wrinkled, gritted teeth displayed.
Strengthening his grip on the wrinkled coat as he bit his bottom lip. "You were the cause of all mother's suffering yet you never felt an ounce of guilt.."
"What did she do to deserve pain?" he inhaled, "Why do all bear hate towards her? Why, why?!"
One of his hands formed into a fist. He never felt overwhelmed with such strong emotion from his son but no matter the circumstance...
How could he dare to say the words of his heart? The misunderstanding is caused by lacking communication. Before he realized that his brother is born to rule, he came across a saying, 'I have learned that people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.'
"Raise your chin, @#&%! and remember," he took a pause, "remember to never forgive me."
— PROLOGUE ENDS
A pair of two goddesses sat opposite sides of a chessboard with serious expressions. The current progress of the game? White pawns seem to be at a better winning rate than black pawns.
Well with no time to waste, on the take of her turn, she sneaked a smirk while holding her queen pawn. A planned move from square to square, she won the match adding a new win to her record.
"Fifty-one thousand three hundred forty-two wins!"
"As expected of the Celestial Saint!"
With this joyful audience of gods with nothing to do and bored gods who lived enough to meet the Messiah. Sounds of clapping and cheering brought positive vibes treating both the women like no one lost and no one won.
The defeated beauty had no hints of dejection but instead, she smiled as the game ended with the win of her opponent. This match was really tense and made the heart beat faster because of how thrilling it was; though this gave enlightenment to Isabella.
Irene sighed as the pent-up exhaustion began taking action after using every bit of her brain. She looked at her cousin who noticed her gaze and formed her mouth into a smile.
Though victory is hers, she recognizes Isabella as a frightening opponent in not only appearance but also in chess. Irene can be known to have a fair win against multiple gods in every expertise she has.
Isabella could've broken her winning streak and give an impact on her reputation but it seems that she has 'plot armor' which means that either the author or plot is protecting the main character.
But please, this young goddess does not have plot armor.... no spoilers though!
Counting all of the exceptional achievements that allowed her to be referred to as the generation's genius with immeasurable potential.
Since the crowd began to disperse, Irene and Isabella can finally have a moment of privacy. With that reassurance of security, Irene started a casual conversation with her older cousin.
"Ella, don't you know how close you were to defeating me?" she said with a cheeky sort of tone.
Isabella scratches her cheek while having a somewhat awkward smile, "Really? I didn't know.."
Suddenly she subconsciously gulped as she felt Irene's interrogative gaze that tries to pierce through her incredible defense.
[Ding: Trivia Time! Disregarding the few millennia between their ages, Irene has a higher position since she belongs to the direct ruling lineage. However, for Isabella she is from one of many branches in the complicated family tree of gods.]
Continuing to deny her statement, their conversation lasted for a long time that from a lively afternoon where the sun is still seen. To now where the moon has already exchanged shifts.
In the next morning, news of the five-decade-long chess match ended with a fair victory of Irene; had spread like wildfire.
...
Inside one of three large structures, it stands as a venue for court meetings, assemblies, large tea parties, and this list goes on. A daily court meeting was held at crack of dawn and since noon is slowly approaching, the serious discussion then turned into a mix of casual and formal conversation with the current monarch: Helios, Heavenly Ruler.
"Let me overlook that everyone knows who won F.D.M. or what did they named that five-decade-long match of chess."
He stood from the seat of his throne with his one palm grips the other hand behind his back, "Though it seems a century was a wrong calculation."
A man from an arranged group of immortals stepped forwards then he bowed his head and cautiously met Helios' eye:
"Isabella and the Celestial Saint are skilled in their aptitudes especially a matter where intelligence and strategies are used," he sneaked a small smile, "She inherits her wisdom and intellect from her father."
"You never fail to amuse me, cousin" he laughed.
Then Helios seemed to make the gesture of stroking his chin while making a decision and added, "My daughter is an infamous troublemaker and has broken most of the basic rules. Sigh, chaotic old days."
...
At the private library of the Celestial Deities; certain shelves of this library contain books that the Celestial Goddess has written or owns and probably a whole section contains books from the God of Supremacy's travels in other realms.
In terms of where it is, no one knows where the library itself is. Speculations say, it's either inside a spatial dimension or similar to a rainbow's end, although you see it when you come closer it moves to another place.
For the security of this magical place, even if it would either be in another dimension or a mirage, the ruling Celestial Deities cast Primeval-grade sealing spells. The location and security of this otherworldly library are never known until a troublemaker sneaked her way into the library and found books that easily tainted her purity.
If it weren't for how her behavior and way of speaking drastically changed, the fact that she went to the library would have remained hidden.
Afterward, both the Celestial Goddess and Heavenly Ruler relocated the library into a dimensional space and re-cast the entire place with Celestial-grade sealing spells. It rather looks like the library wasn't in a spatial dimension but located in certain coordinates.
This incident led a circle of entities to know that there are erotic books that created infamous rumors that the two ruling deities are a pair of horny individuals or perverts. Of course, their reputation received an impact but those rumors died in a few months.
...
"Right, Your Majesty." they all bowed in perfect sync.
As no one had any other interesting topic to share, an awkward silence would surely come into the scene. However, this got interrupted when a soldier wearing a knight helmet embellished with red feathers and golden armor with a sun emblem on the chestplate center, appeared rushing inside.
The gods were slightly offended by his abrupt entrance but they ignored it as the Celestial Knight brought an injured messenger from the border.
"Speak," he said with an authoritative tone, "What had happened at the borders?"
The messenger slid off his torn white hood and revealed his face with a wound on his nose and dirt on his cheeks, "An ambush. The general relocated the army of celestial knights and winged-knights then we were ambushed by the Devil's army."
Helios guarded his mouth, "I see."
He slammed his clenched fists on the armrest of the throne. His brows were furrowed and his golden irises became a small circle as he widened his eyes as if in shock.
"So what if you were ambushed." Helios looked straight towards his eyes, "Losing an incompetent general together with his arrogant army is a speck of cosmic dust."
"Yo-Yo-Your Majesty—"
"Shut it you stuttering fool!" he sneered.
Disappointment fairly oppresses anger caused by this messenger's stupidity. Helios finally is on the same page but, why is his subject asking him to avenge a stranger's death.
Helios showed a face of disappointment and disgust which displayed how distasteful he feels.
"Ah, Your Majesty." even with the tension, the celestial knight spoke up. He pointed at the messenger's hands which were occupied with a brown wooden box.
He sends a signal to the messenger then the poor fellow gave the box to the knight who gave it to Oliver. The high-elf in court attire stood by the side with his body facing horizontally forwards: this position allowed the Heavenly Ruler and everyone else to see the box.
Without further ado, Oliver unlocked the golden locket of the box and opened the wooden lid. Everyone gasped with widened eyes but Helios' reaction is more severe.
"And weren't you running your mouth giving hints that I should avenge for a humble reason?" His loud voice echoed throughout the room and gave everyone a quick flinch.
His golden eyes glowed dangerously as his palm spread opened with a magic circle targeted towards the messenger. In contrast to his magic circle, the fellow had a golden collar-like thing around his neck which became tighter and tighter.
"I.. please... hear me.... your majesty."
Helios clicked his tongue before canceling the spell and turning his body towards his throne, "Send this man to a cell. The court is dismissed!"
He clenched his hands into fists, 'What is this, Deimos? An underhanded taunt?'
