Chapter 04

In this dynasty, only the head of the families would be mourned so the mourning of Fen couldn’t be done.

 The current brothers who are away are the Crown Prince, 3rd Prince, Chen and the 4th Prince, Bao who is a General and is on the front line.

“They are all busy suppressing the rebels and here I am just living extravagantly and dealing with annoying ministers”. Ziteng mumbled. “If only I could go”

“Milady, you have been entrusted as the guardian of the palace, please stop thinking about going to the battlefields again.”

“You are not convincing at all. Now I know why the Fen told me to live freely”

About 2 years have passed since then. The emperor and his soldiers have not returned yet the news of victory could be heard everywhere.

Ziteng was in her office as usual. She came across a report which tells:

“All the rebels that were dealt with were a façade. It was the neighboring Manchu kingdom’s work.  It seems the King is not aware of the situation and the general is involved. His entrusted soldiers are disguised as rebels and motivating the village people to rebel. We were too late in investigating.” It was that of the spies she entrusted in the rebellion matters.

“This is absurd. It seems like I was too focused on the internal matters.”

 “Make sure to let my brother know.” She says that to the shadows who were hiding in the dark.

“Milady, what did the Shadows say?”

 (Hands over the report)

They gasp.

“Oh Yi, Xi’an, tell me what should I do?

“My lady… we are the guardians of the royal palace. And you are our master. It is your duty to defend the royal jade palace”

“Yes, I was born as the guardian, I know that I have to defend but I now want to be free”

“But before that, I should show my true power…” She couldn’t complete her sentence

“The rebels are entering the palace!!” The soldiers shouted.

“Curse them. I was too late. I thought they were still in the town”

“EVERYONE GO TO THE SOUTHERN PALACE, IT IS SAFE THERE!” Ziteng cried out. She knew that the Southern Palace was the safest because no one goes or resides there. It was abandoned and the rebels would obviously target only the royals.

“What about you milady” a young maid whose master was long dead asked Ziteng

“Oh! Me? I need to stretch my leg a little bit. Go! Hurry”

“It is the time again; maybe I should try to reduce bloodshed this time. How I miss that feeling…that power” She talks to herself recalling the memories of the last war she fought in.

“My brothers are not present in the palace which means it’s me they are coming for”

“Yi! Xi’ai! Transform!”

“Let’s go!”

“Open the gates! Now, let’s see who the hell is rebelling inside the palace walls”.

“Uh what is she saying?” The gate keeper was kind of hesitant to open.

“PRINCESS WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? PLEASE GO AWAY! We will protect you”
