Chapter 1

One cold fall afternoon, Tae walked into his apartment. He put his keys on the table. He looked around the living room, hoping to find her there but couldn't see her, so he opened the door to the bedroom. Walking inside, he saw her curled up on the bed, hugging a pillow tightly. He bend down so he could look at her and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear 

Taehyung: Still tired? (She nodded, biting her lip)

Taehyung: Jen, you've been like this for almost four days. I know you're going to hate me for saying this, but you really should go see a doctor

He tried not to sound too worried, not wanting to make her feel any worse

Jennie: I'm fine. Just a rough week at work, I think

Taehyung: Rougher than any other week? Don't think so

Jennie: Maybe I'm getting old then (She tried to smile but ended up yawning instead)

Taehyung: Have you at least told your mom about this?

Jennie: And make her worry for nothing? Tae, I'm fine. Just tired, that's all (She extended her arm and cupped his face) Come lie down with me

Taehyung: Fine. But if you're not feeling any better by next week, I'm dragging you to the doctor and I don't care if you yell, kick me or break up with me, got it?

Jennie: Fine

She smiled this time and he stood up, kicking his shoes off and lied down on his side of the bed. She quickly turned around and rested her head on his shoulder while he wrapped his arm around her

Taehyung: Back still hurt?

Jennie: A little bit

Lowering his hand, he started rubbing her back slowly and kissed the top of her head

Taehyung: Anything I can do to make you feel better?

Jennie: Just continue what you're doing right now. That helps

Taehyung: Ok. If you can think of anything else ... ?

Jennie: I'll let you know

She kissed his shoulder and he continued to rub her back, trying to convince himself that she was fine. Saturday night, after another day she spent in bed, napping on the couch, watching movies, getting angry at her stubbornness. Tae walked to the kitchen and picked up his iphone, and called her mom

Mrs.kim: This better be good! Tae. You're interrupting my movie night with my husband (she said from the other side of the phone)

Taehyung: I want you to talk to some sense into your daughter. She's being impossible

Mrs.kim: You two have a fight? (She said and trying to guess what might be the reason of taehyung called her at this late)

Taehyung: Nope, but we're going to have one very soon if she doesn't want to go to see a doctor

Mrs.kim: Why? What's wrong? 

He could hear her moving at the other side of the phone and shushing her husband

Taehyung: Her back hurts and she's been tired all week and I mean really tired as in she takes twenty naps a day and when she's not asleep, she's still in bed or on the couch

Mrs.kim: Tae I'm sure she's fine but I will try to talk to her (she tried to comfort him but suddenly she remember something) Wait, you say she's tired? All the time?

Taehyung: Yeah

Mrs.kim: and her back hurts ? Have you actually been listening to a word I've been saying?

Taehyung: Yes, it hurts

Mrs.kim: ok Tae I need you to go, find her and put her on the phone right this second

Taehyung: are you going to convince her to see a doctor?

Mrs.kim: yeah, but I have to know something else first and trust me, that is definitely not the conversation either one of us ever wants to have. Ever. So go find her now

Taehyung: is it bad? (He suddenly became more worried trying not to think of all the things that could go wrong)

Mrs.kim: no, I don't know it depends.  I'm probably wrong, anyway (she said before taking a deep breath) Just go find her

Taehyung: ok

Tae walked back in the living room and headed to the couch, handing the phone to Jennie

Taehyung: it's your mother. Talk to her 

Jennie: you called her? (She looked angry)

Taehyung: yes, now talk to her (he handed the phone to jennie)

Mrs.kim: ok, I may be completely wrong here but your boyfriend said you're tired and not normal tired but really tired and your back hurts so much. I'm probably wrong but that's kind of how it was for me this time and are you late? (She said trying not to get too excited)

Jennie: what? I didn't understand

Mrs.kim: that thing? The one that happens every month. Has it happened this month?

Jennie: not yet. It should, though. This weekend is probably

Mrs.kim: and what if it's not come?

Jennie: maybe a day. Wait... you don't actually think....

Mrs.kim: yeah, that's exactly what I  think

Jennie: b-but (she tried to calm herself down) It can't, no way

Mrs.kim: Because you're being safe?

Jennie: yeah

Mrs.kim: hmm...my child, sorry to say this but that can be fail

Jennie: No way! That can't happen to me

Mrs.kim: yeah, to you too. So I suggest you go to the store and pick up a test. Just to be sure

Jennie: you don't really think it's that do you?

Mrs.kim: I don't know, Jen I think there's a good possibility

Jennie: I will go and do what you said

Mrs.kim: and call me back the second you know anything

Jennie: promise

Mrs.kim: ok and keep in mind that I will not sleep, eat or drink until I find out. Now go tell Taehyung because he's really worried, my child and don't be angry with him because he called me

Jennie looked at her boyfriend who  was still standing there, looking at her

Jennie: I am not...not anymore, anyway I have to go

Mrs.kim: do that. I'll call you back

Jennie: ok bye

Mrs.kim: good luck

Jennie: thanks bye mom

Jennie: come here (she said to Tae)

He walked slowly and sat next to her on the couch

Taehyung: Still mad at me?

Jennie: no but (She took a deep breath and kissed him, not knowing how he was going to take the news) Mom thinks I might be pregnant

Actually saying the word for the time made her quiet as well and she just looked at him, trying to understand what was going on in his mind. When he didn't say anything for a few minutes she wrapped her fingers around his hand

Jennie: Tae

Taehyung: Sorry (He shook his head quickly) I am still processing....don't know what to say. How do you feel?

Jennie: like throwing up

She smiled weakly and he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her in for a hug. He kissed the top of her head, rubbing her arm gently

Taehyung: sorry

Jennie: so...what do we do now ? (She asked him in her weak voice)

Taehyung: I suppose that...now I will go and buy you a pregnancy test and then we will take it from there

Jennie: and if it's positive?

Taehyung: I think that kind of goes in the 'take it from there' bit (He chuckled, kissing her head again)

Jennie: ok (She stood up extending her hand) I'm coming with you. There is no way I can sit by myself on the couch, biting my nails and waiting. I would have no fingers left by the time you got back

He laughed and took her hand. Before he got up from the couch his eyes stayed for a second on her stomach a million thoughts rushing through his brain. Shaking them out of his head, he stood up and wrapped both his arms around Jennie, kissing her softly

Taehyung: whatever way this goes... you know I'm here, right?

Jennie: I know....I love you (she said while hugging him)

Taehyung: really? I had no idea (She looked up at him and slapped his chest)

Jennie: this is not the time to be a smartass

Taehyung: ok ok my lady (he chuckled)

After 10 minutes

They drove to the pharmacy both of them still trying to process the possibility of a baby. Once they reached it they got inside and stood in the doorway overwhelmed by the number of shelves. Tae looked at her while letting go of her hand

Taehyung: so let's split and the one that finds them first.... goes looking for the other one. Okay?

Jennie: yeah. Meet back here in 10 minutes, just in case we can't find each other again

Taehyung: ok

Then they both headed in separate directions in the store. Five minutes later. Tae having just found the corridor they were looking for, walked around the store only to find Jennie standing in front of the baby corridor, looking at diapers, bottles and various other baby related items. Smiling, he wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her shoulder gently.  She looked around to look at him and smiled back

Jennie: we could be back here in 9 months

He was quiet for a few seconds before he decided to ask her what was going on in her mind

Taehyung: you... want this, don't you?

Jennie: not before it was a possibility.  I don't think I have ever thought I want a baby soon. It was always more of a someday, definitely and that someday was always far away in the future. But now, when it could actually happen... yeah, I do and I don't know if that scares you, though I hope it doesn't, but I want this to be real

Instead of replying, Tae hugged her kissing her forhead as she wrapped her arms around him as well

Taehyung: let's go find out if it is then

Jennie: ok

She let go of him and took his hand instead and they both walked to the shelf. Once they reached it they stood in front of it looking at the enormous choice

Taehyung: which one? 

Jennie: don't know. I guess we just pick one

Taehyung: this one? (He just picked up a random box and handed it to her)

Jennie: nope, I don't like the box

Taehyung: ok (He took it back from her and put it back on the shelf, then picked up another one) This one?

Jennie: five minutes? Are you crazy?

Taehyung: how about you pick whichever one you want? (He smirked)

Jennie: Thank you (she smiled and kissed his cheek)

Taking the last step towards the shelf she picked up a box and handed it to Tae

Jennie: this one. It says it's fast, accurate and there are 3 in the box

Taehyung: you plan on spending the entire night peeing on sticks? (He laughed and she looked at him, trying to stay serious but ended up smiling as well)

Jennie: hello, I just want to be sure

Taehyung: ok so this one it is

He lifted the box in the air and Jennie just kissed him quickly

Jennie: thanks

Taehyung: did I ever have a word to say in this? (Tae smirked)

Jennie: not really (She smiled back kissing his cheek again)

Taehyung: how about lying to protect my feelings next time?

Jennie: I'm not promising anything. Now let's go! I have to know

She grabbed his sleeve and started dragging him towards the cash register.  As soon as they paid they walked out and headed back to their apartment. Jennie clutching the bag tightly in her hand, her other hand was holding tae's hand

Jennie: Tae...?

Taehyung: Hmmm?

Jennie: you... haven't said how you feel about this. It's...(she took a deep breath) It's ok not to be excited about it. It's not like we planned it or really talked about it as a serious possibility so you don't have to be happy or excited or anything. I know I want it but you don't have to and I won't be angry with you, I swear. We'd just have to talk about it after we know but you can not want it

She said, not looking at him. Tae stopped the car

Taehyung: really? you wouldn't be angry?

Jennie: you don't want it

She stated simply, trying not to sound too disappointed. When she finally looked up at him, she saw him smirking, trying very hard not to laugh

Jennie: what's so funny?

Taehyung: how quickly you went from not being angry to pouting

Taehyung: I never said I don't want it

(He smirked)

Jennie slapped his chest, finally making him chuckle

Taehyung: stop that

Jennie: you're impossible!

Taehyung chuckled and hold both of her hands

Taehyung: Jennie, we've been together for almost 5 years. I kind of figured it's going to stick this time. It's definitely not the worst time in the world for us to have a kid. We both are stable and we also left our companies. Now you are the CEO of your new company, I am also doing my job as an solo singer and being pregnant with my kid is not the worst thing that could happen. In fact, it's probably one of the best. So yeah, I kind of want this to be real as well

He finished his speech and cupped her face in his hands, kissing her softly. When he pulled back she blinked quickly, trying to push away a few tears

Jennie: you're a jerk! 

Taehyung: what did I do this time?

Jennie: you make me go crazy and then you go and say something like that and make it really hard for me to be mad at you. You should be nice to your potentially pregnant girlfriend not make her worry

Taehyung: just payback, jen

Jennie: what for? 

Taehyung: for making me worry like a madman for the last 5 days with your stubbornness

Jennie: sorry (she kissed him and hugged her tightly)

Taehyung: it's ok. Now are you ready to go home and see if there's going to be a baby or not?

Jennie: yes

When they reached their apartment, they walked back inside and put their coats down, Jennie still holding the bag tightly in her hand

Jennie: can you... come with me? Not in the bathroom just wait outside. I don't want to be alone

Taehyung: sure

He kissed her forhead as they walked towards the bathroom. She opened the door and looked at him one last time

Jennie: tell me again it's going to be fine

Taehyung: it's going to be fine

Jennie: thank you

She kissed him again and took a deep breath before walking in and closing the door behind her. A couple of minutes later, she came out, holding the white plastic stick in her hand

Jennie: I can't look at it! I'm too nervous to look at it!  You do it!

Taehyung: what's it supposed to say?  You had the instructions

Jennie: it just says 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant'

Taehyung: What, no lines?

Jennie: No, and will you please just look at it already before I go crazy? Don't worry, there's a cap over the nasty part

She give the test in his hand and he looked at her one last time

Taehyung: ready?

Jennie: no...you?

Taehyung: no

Jennie: perfect if there is actually a kid, he or she will never hear this story. Got it? (She giggled and kissed him)

Taehyung: Got it (he took a deep breath and lifted his hand....looking at the test)
