Chapter 4

It is lunchtime. My boss texted me before two hours. He reached Delhi and was going to attend the meeting, Meeting will be over soon that's why I am waiting for his call. I am also nervous and tensed. My family income is dependent on my job. I have some savings but I know in the future for Aahan's education I need a lot of money. That's why I buy my and Aahan's clothes from the market. We don't use branded things. I try to bargaining. I buy mostly cheap things. I try to save money as much as I can.

My phone rings and I pick up, "hello sir

He was cursing I can tell from his tone, "Kavya, he is an asshole and arrogant." "What happened, sir? Tell me." asked with concern.

"He is asking for all employee's reports. It's not hard for us because we maintain all data. He continued, you know, he wants all employees to refer by a number instead of their names in the report. You can understand how much he is an asshole?? I can feel his anger on another side of the call.

"Sir, please calm down. I don't think it is wrong with it." "What? You know how much we love our names. I think you don't love your name." He asks

"Listen to me, sir. You know in the 12th board exam we are referred by our roll number, not by our name because we know there will be fair marking by teachers. We are attached with names somehow. That's why it's a rule to write your roll number in the answer sheet instead of your name. Maybe, it's a reason that's why he wants all employees referred by a number. He wants fair judgment." I tell him my point of view.

There is silence. After some minutes, he chuckles, "you are supporting him?"

"No, I am not supporting him. I don't know him." answer with honesty.

I hear a man's voice, "Mr. Rakesh who is supporting my cousin? Because I never know a person who supports him." My boss put his hand on the speaker as I couldn't listen but I can listen slowly voice. My boss was silent. Maybe, he won't want to tell me about That man again asks, "Is she your wife... Your friend... Your girlfriend....?

"She is our company employee." Finally, my boss speaks. I feel some irritation in my boss's voice.

"Tell her, I am very excited to meet her. And I am sure I will meet her soon." I hear that man again voice.

My boss speaks on phone, "hello kavya are you there?"

"Yeah, who is he?" asked with confusion.

"Another asshole." He tells with grinned.

I giggle, "I think there is a lot of assholes?"

"Yeah, you are right. By the way, I think you are saying right. I should think about that point of view. And what about over-timing? He wants everybody has to do over timing. When the company needs. Company is already in the loss." He wants my point of view about it. Actually, in my company, nobody does over-timing. Some are newly married. Some have kids. Everyone has their family and they want to spend their time with them. I can't do overtime because Aahan's playgroup has fixed timing. I can't leave him alone at the home he is younger for that.

I sighed, "don't worry we will solve this problem."

He smiles, "You never think anything seriously." I know he is shaking his head.

I chuckle, "because I know there is no use to think anything seriously."

"Ok see you soon bye. And nice to talk to you."

"See you soon sir." I cut the call. I think seriously but I don't show to anyone I am serious.

In the meeting, it's final there will be an announcement for taking over the company by the new owner, they appointed an in charge who will prepare. a report about company functions, about all employees. And everyone has to do overtime. If anybody is denied, they can resign from the company or it will be decided by in charge.
