~Sophia’s POV~
I woke up with an unbearable aching in my head and a grumbling stomach.
"What happened?"' muttered, frantically searching around my surroundings, I was in a big room, much like my own, only it wasn't. I wasn't in my home.
When I tried to stand up, I found that I was restricted, my hand and legs were bounded to a chair.
"Help! Somebody help me!" I screamed, trying desperately to break free from my confines, but it was useless.
I saw the newly polished shoes before I heard the footsteps coming closer towards me. Shutting my eyes, I refused to open them, even without looking I could tell whoever it was, was certainly not here to help me.
"Good morning my love." A voice whispered close to my ear before placing a kiss on my cheek. His lips were icy cold, they sent an unpleasant chill down my spine, causing me to fight violently to break free from the ropes. I hoped to at least free my right hand, so I could slap the unknown idiot.
"Get away from me!" I stared up at the man for the first time and was taken aback by what I saw. He was young, very young, I was expecting an old pervert but was met with a handsome man, that however scared me more.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Sophia." He attempted to come closer to me again, but I proceeded to relentlessly bash the legs of the chair on the ground until he stopped moving forwards.
"Who are you? What do you want from me? Why am I here?" I glared at the man, using my body to push the chair even further away from him.
"My name is Fabio Roussos, I want you Sophia, you are here because I need you with me." He was now staring at me, a small smile on his face as he started to advance towards me again.
I stopped him mid-step. "What part of get away from me don't you understand sicko?" He actually laughed, I grimaced at the smile on his face, it made me uncomfortable. It made him look mad.
"I understand you perfectly Soph." Sitting down cross-legged on the floor, he looked around the room, think silently to himself. I winced as a bitter chuckle left his lips. "If I had a cent for every time, I'd been called sick...honey you and I would be swimming in cents right this minute."
I ignored his twisted humor. "How do you know my name?"
His attention was now back on me and I wished for nothing more than for him to look away again. "I've known you for a very long time Sophia, much longer than you think." I cringed at the nickname.
"What are you talking about?"
He laughed again. "Your beloved husband Demetrius is my cousin."
My eyes widened. "No, you can't be, I would know you, I've never met you in my life." I shook my head confused. I can't know this man, anyway Demetrius would have warned me about this kind of man if they were related.
He scoffed, his eyes suddenly turning deadly. "I never expected you to. When you are involved with someone like my cousin, you feel like you can do no better, he is rich and handsome, how can you notice another man?" I blinked twice. Of course, Demetrius was all of those things but I've been to enough of Demetrius' family reunions to know everybody, everybody except him.
"Demetrius doesn't deserve you Sophia, he can never take care of you, love you the way I can..." Before I knew what was happening, he was on his feet again and moving swiftly towards me. "I just want to take off the ropes." I tensed the whole time he untied my arms and legs. The dangerous aura this man was emitting was truly intimidating, I felt unsafe, although his motive proved otherwise.
"You haven't untied my wrists." I stated.
"The guys told me what you had done back in the house, I'm not taking any chances." He smirked and went away from me when he was done.
Sitting on the chair, once I had sat on, he looked up at me, his hands resting casually on the back of his head. "I'm sure Demetrius has told you about me." He gave me that same smile again and the unpleasant chill came back.
"What are talking about?"
"The marriage agreement, I'm sure your aware of it." For once, I looked him in the eyes, there was a menacing glint in those coffee-colored orbs.
I exploded. "You are the cousin Demetrius talked about; you are the one who made the contract." I pointed an accusing finger at Fabio. The content looks on his face made me angrier. "Who the hell do you think you are making a contract on my happiness? I am not your puppet, I am a human being, a woman with self-respect and I will not allow you insensitive assholes to sign me off like some toy!" I was breathing hard at the end of my outburst.
He was now staring at me with predatory eyes. "You look even sex!er when you're mad." I was disgusted at the words that left Fabio's mouth, he showed no remorse, not even an ounce of sympathy.
"You egotistical excuse of a man!" I shouted, storming towards him, rage consuming me. Without thinking I swung my restrained fists at Fabio, knocking him straight of the chair and onto the floor.
I barely did any damage but I knew I would soon regret my moment of anger.
Fabio was in his feet in an instant, he grabbed my arm and tugged on it painfully. "I should kill you, put two bullets inside that pretty little head of yours right now." He hissed, bringing me even closer to his body. "But I love you too much to do that."
"Let go of me! You don't love me. You kidnapped me, that's a crime, committed by the wicked and heartless. People like that are not capable of love, you are not capable of love!" I let out a strangled cry as his hand slapped across my face with brutal force. Everyone has a line, I had just crossed his.
The pain in my cheek brought back to life the grim reminder of my painfully bruised head. "I need painkillers." I muttered.
Fabio remained silent for a while before answering. "Yes, of course, but you need to eat first, you must be hungry." Wordlessly I followed him to get food.
"I want to go home." I whispered, halfway through the egg rice and noodles Fabio had ordered for me.
"This is your home." He vaguely replied, his attention elsewhere.
"No this is not. I have been kidnapped and I am begging you to return me to my home. Please Fabio." I dropped my fork and tried make eye contact, hoping to appeal to his moral side.
"You are not going anywhere, Demetrius and I had a contract, after six months you will be all mine, six months are up, you belong to me now." I stood up from my chair, becoming increasingly angry again.
"I am not a piece meat. I deserve the right to choose and I choose to leave this place!" He grabbed by the hair, pulling and dragging me to his heart's content.
"You want to leave? You want to go back to Demetrius and leave me here all alone? You are mine and not even Demetrius can take you away." I whimpered in pain, this man was unstable, he was insane and I feared what he would do to me if I continued to disobey him.
"Demetrius will find me, I know he will." Tears spilled from my eyes as I wept over my ordeal. I was crying for multiple reasons, life has been cruelled to me lately and as I stand here with my hair practically being ripped away from my scalp, I wondered why it had to be me.
At the mention of Demetrius, he pulled harder, I bit my lip to the extent of tasting blood, it was so painful. He knew I was hurting yet he continued, he wanted this, he wanted me to suffer.
"You think Demetrius will be your knight on shining armor? He is dead! I sent my men after him, they tortured him, cutting of each finger one by one..." Fabio's voice faded into a cruel whisper, it was the first time I had seen a genuine smile on his face.
"To take out the big guy you've got to take out the eyes, so my men chopped it off. Sliced it then diced. I wish I had done it myself, the pleasure of seeing him writhe in pain was most tempting, but I knew you were waiting for me." I gasped as he grabbed a knife, moving it viciously in the air as if to react the murder.
"You're a liar, Demetrius is not dead!" I cried, shaking my head, this man was evil, he wanted to see me in pain, he wanted me to believe, he had killed my husband, but I wouldn't believe him.
"Shut up!" Fabio pulled my body towards his own, his left hand wrapped firmly around my waist and the knife pressed firmly against my jugular. "I am going to finish my story; my love and you will listen. I promise you'll enjoy it." He placed that same cold kiss against my temple, this time I knew not to struggle.
"I have a collection you know? Of my victims. Your husband's eyes will be my prize trophy. I have always thought very highly of my cousin, so I cleared put a space just for him." He sounded like he was reminiscing of his childhood years, so jubilant and humorous. It was torturous, I had no other choice but to stand and listen to every gruesome tale he told. I could feel a piece of my heart shatter because of the negative thoughts that crossed my mind, what if Fabio was telling the truth?
"I know you've always been fascinated by the oceans, so just for you, I told the guys to bring back Demetrius' body, then we'd send it off into the ocean. Doesn't that sound beautiful my love?" He had now put the knife down and started to hold me as if we were a real couple. I didn't dare move, this man was no ordinary kidnapper, he would kill if you got on his bad side and trust me, he would make it as painful as possible.
"Why did you kill him? It's not like he didn't keep his end of the deal." I swallowed, making sure to ask my questions carefully and allowing Fabio to hold me.
"On the contrary he didn't, we met one week prior to the end of the set six-month agreement, but he refused to give you up. I didn't kill him for that though, I could have easily taken you any time I wanted. Demetrius knows I am much more rich and powerful than he is. I killed him because of the one sacred rule that he broke. He fell in love and once you fall in love, you'll do anything to get that love back. I couldn't have him becoming a nuisance in our relationship." I resisted the urge to flinch away when he reached for my hands, I still needed more answers.
"What do you mean you are more rich and powerful than Demetrius?"
"It's really simple, Demetrius is the owner of Mavros Inc, the third richest company on the world. I own Roussos Inc, the richest company in the world by far, Mavros Inc is only where it is today because of me, I make most of my business deals and collaborations with Demetrius' company, without me, you'd be an average family living on minimum wage.
This new found information shocked me. I was still unsure about whether to believe him or not, but right now I had no other choice.
Suddenly Fabio's phone began to ring and I took that as an opportunity to break free from his hold.
"What?" He snapped harshly into the phone and I felt sorry for whoever was on the other line.
"Fvck!" He slammed his fists onto the table, rattling the wooden structure.
"What is it?" I asked nervously.
"We need to leave. Now."
