VORACIOUS- 17

~Sophia’s POV~

He is gone. I re-read the note several times, trying somehow to fathom the fact that his disappearance has not only put him but me in deep sh!t. I'm fvcked.

Demetrius probably has a tail of about twenty or so men after him, all armed with massive guns and machetes, eager to kill.

"I can't believe this!" I shouted, crumpling the note and throwing it absentmindedly onto the floor. I was too consumed in my own anger and sadness that I didn't even spare him a listening ear when he informed me about his departure.

Instead, when I woke in the morning with a throbbing headache and puffy eyes, I was greeted with a bright yellow piece of paper that read:

...____________________________________...

...Dear Sophia,...

I know you are very angry with me right now, and you have every right to be, but the thought of you hating me and possibly never speaking to me again makes me afraid because without you in my life, I don't know what I'd do.

I have decided to go to our second home in Rhodes for a while, I know you need time alone to think, and I'm giving you that. Furthermore, I want you to know Sophia that I love you, forever and always.

That idiot. I thought spitefully. I knew I should have just told him everything from the start, then none of this would have happened. You're right, it would have been worse. A voice in my head taunted, it was right. I did the right thing by not telling Demetrius, who knows what would have happened if I told him everything and Casper found out. I shuddered just thinking about it.

I could fix this; nothing has happened to him. Demetrius is perfectly fine.

Don't get me wrong, I am still very much angry at Demetrius, but with three-years of companionship hanging over my head, I couldn't just forget.

I would do everything within my power to save Demetrius and make sure he is safe, but I wasn't so sure if at the end of it, I would want anything to do with him.

Taking out my phone, I immediately dialed his number to warn him of the impending danger coming his way. I started to get even more worried when it went straight to voicemail.

Having no other choice, I phoned the police. "What's the emergency?" A man spoke over the phone, it sounded oddly familiar, but I paid no mind to that factor.

"It's my husband, he's in danger."

"What kind of danger, Madam?"

"I think people are after his life. I have tried calling him, but I keep getting his voicemail. I'm worried he might be hurt, and I could never live with myself..." All the negative thoughts I had managed to ignore began to surface all at once.

I couldn't finish my sentence, I burst into tears.

"Madam, I am going to need you to calm down if we are going to find your husband." I nodded even though he couldn't see me and wiped away my tears. "What is his name?" The man continued when he was sure I had calmed down.

"Demetrius Mavros." I answered as calmly as I could.

"Demetrius Mavros? CEO of Mavros Inc?" The man seemed overly interested in my husband's occupation, but I answered anyway.

"Yes."

"And are you aware of his location at the moment?" Frowning, I found it strange at the sudden 360 degree in terms of attitude the man had through the phone.

"He is in Rhodes; we have a house there."

"Where in Rhodes is your husband?" Searching my brain for an address, I came up empty. I can't believe I had forgotten the address for the house. However, I had only been there once in two years, so I wasn't expecting to know the address of the top of my head.

"I-I can't remember, I'm sorry officer, it has completely escaped my mind." I apologized, mortified.

"That's alright, Sophia, who are you currently with in the house?"

"Other than the bodyguards, nobody."

I could hear the man muttering to himself, was he writing all of this down?

"Just sit down and relax, Mrs. Mavros, we will try our very best to locate your husband and ensure he is returned safely to your home."

I let out a huge sigh of relief. "Thank you very much, sir."

"Goodbye Mrs. Mavros."

"Goodbye." I hung up and silently prayed that Demetrius was okay.

I sat impatiently on the living room sofa, hoping miraculously that Demetrius would walk through the wooden doors right now, uninjured.

Constantly staring at the phone, I awaited any further news of Demetrius' whereabouts.

Everything around me seemed more high def, as if my senses had been heightened, the unceasing tick of the clock continuously pestered me, warning me that time was not on my side. I stared helplessly at the loose thread on my top, the fabric was thin and each time I pulled on the thread contributed to the hole threatening to form. It reminded me of hope, the hole was a black hole engulfing the little faith I had left.

Too consumed in my own thoughts, I didn't notice two men barge into the house.

Locking eyes with them, out of fright I jumped out of my seat and attempted to flee but was pushed back onto the chair by one of the men.

Without a word he pulled out a gun and pointed it at me. I sat completely frozen under the might of the killing machine.

"Where is Sophia Mavros?" A tall man spoke, none bothered to hide their faces under an ask, and I took that opportunity to analyze every little detail of the men's faces. The man in front of me was very tall, with an intimidating eye path covering his left eye.

Not having it within me to speak, I pointed a shaky finger at myself.

Suddenly both of the men sent each other an unknown look before bursting out into uncontrollable laughter.

"What are you? 16? This is a child." The other man spoke in between breaths, he was equally has intimidating as the first man, with a long scar starting from his cheek to the start of his jaw. In the midst of their hysterical laughter, the tall man lowered his gun and I visibly relaxed.

I felt my face unintentionally turn bright red out of embarrassment and anger. "I am 21!" I shouted at the two men, insulted, I allowed anger to speak for me.

My abrupt explosion rendered both men silent, their scary gazes fell upon me and I shifted fearfully in my seat.

"Did we ask you to speak, child?" Eye patch approached me, literally screaming in my face, I didn't answer him. When it looked like he was about to walk back to his friend, I felt a rough hand slam across my face viciously.

I placed a gentle hand on my cheek and muffled a cry as the searing pain of the slap struck my cheek at full force.

"Next time, don't open your fvcking mouth." He stared at me with no remorse, seemingly happy at what he had done, it was sickening just to watch.

"We should get a move on; boss wants to see her asap." I looked between both men, growing even more confused, whose is this boss? I didn't ask in fear of getting slapped again.

Frantically I looked around the room, I searched for the dozens of guards Demetrius had watching the house, but I saw none in sight, had these men killed them?

"Don't even bother, they work for us." Eye patch smirked, turning away from me to talk incoherently with his partner. What did he mean, they work for us? Surely, he wasn't talking about the guards Demetrius had hired, he would never make such a mistake.

"Where's my husband?" I questioned without thinking, I instantly regretted it when Eye patch started to reproach me, his gun swinging casually on his fingers as he did so.

"I'll tell you something, kid." He began, his chilling whisper made me cringe, it reminded me of my childhood demons. "Your husband was a son of a b!tch, a very greedy man who didn't know how to honor an agreement. You are a very beautiful little girl that should be trying her damn best not to p!ss me off with any more husband questions because if you do, I will not only kill you, but I will fvck you, and I know that's not what you want." He slowly trailed the gun along my jaw, not bothered that I was spilling fresh tears onto the gun and his hand, in fact, it only brought a smile to his face.

As I stared anywhere but at the evil man in front of me, only one word kept repeating over and over in my mind like a broken record.

Was.

Did that mean Demetrius was dead? No, he couldn't be, I refuse to believe it. He is not dead.

"What did you do to my husband?" I demanded. Standing up, I kicked Eye patch in his jewels. "Mmph." He groaned in pain, I watched victorious as he crumbled to the ground in a painful heap.

My moment of freedom didn't last two-minutes before I was tackled onto the ground by Scar, he angrily lifted me from the floor, tugging brutally on my arms as Eye patch was getting up.

My eyes widened at the furious look on his face, he roughly grabbed my face and pulled it towards his. "I was going to simply pinch the back of your neck to knock you out, but now you've p!ssed me off." I rapidly shook my head, not wanting to face the consequences of what I had done.

"Please don't, I'm begging you!" My desperate pleas for mercy were fallen on deaf ears.

Without warning Eye patch swung the b#tt of the gun across my head. I felt a sharp pain before fading into darkness.
