~Sophia’s POV~
I cautiously opened one eye and took a peek at Demetrius who laid soundlessly asleep beside me. I ran my hand through his brown mass of curly hair and sighed. He looked so peaceful, I would have never pegged him as the violent type, but unfortunately that was exactly who he was.
I cupped his cheek and planted a soft kiss on his forehead, after yesterday he had us immediately flown back to Greece where he has remained as cold as ever. I contemplated paying the poor man a visit where he lay fatally injured in the hospital, but the rational part of me told me to stay put. For his own safety.
I quietly got out of bed and tiptoed out of the room.
"Busted." A gruff voice called behind me. I mentally cursed and slowly turned around, appearing to look confused.
"Excuse me?"
"I saw you trying to sneak out." He answered unwrapping the duvet and getting out of bed, his ***** torso on full display.
"Sneak out? I don't know what you're talking about."
He chuckled at my lame attempt to lie. "Come on Sophia, I know you were trying to leave unnoticed; you don't need to lie."
I stared at him and said nothing.
"So, are you going to tell me why you attempted to sneak out on me like a one-night stand?" He inquired, fixing his unwavering gaze on me.
I couldn't help but take a quick glance at the ceiling, his piercing stare was certainly affecting me in more ways than one. "I wanted to make breakfast." I stuttered, is it getting hot in here?
"Breakfast?" He raised a disbelieving eyebrow.
"Yes, as a surprise for you." I could feel my hands become clammy as I continued to lie.
"For me?" I sighed in irritation at his stupid question.
"Yes." I rolled my eyes.
He continued to stare unconvinced at me but I forced myself to stay calm under pressure, finally he broke his one-sided stare down and sighed. "Okay, I believe you."
I smirked, successfully keep in up my act. "Of course, you do."
I could see a small smile making its way across his face as he scanned my body from head to toe and I began to step back. "Demetrius." I warned. I knew exactly why he was staring at me; I had no br@ on and I was currently wearing his custom-made shirt he forced me. It didn't take a genius to work this one out.
"You know, I never noticed how $exy you look this morning until I took a proper look." He smirked watching me with predatory eyes.
I continued to take hurried steps back, attempting to get away from a temptation I know I can't resist.
Suddenly, I felt a solid object against my leg and my balance faltered as I fell backwards. Thankfully I didn't embarrass myself and fall flat on my back, instead, I fell straight into the arms of the same person I was attempting to get away from.
"It must be fate." He whispered charmingly, his lips occasionally touching mine in a fleeting exchange.
"I guess so." I wasted no time in completely connecting our lips together in a soft kiss. His lips moved hungrily in sync with mine as we attempted to explore every inch of our mouth. I put my hands on each side of Demetrius' torso and felt his solid muscles beneath my hands.
Reluctantly I broke away for air, but Demetrius didn't stop, he places tantalizing kisses down the column of neck. I could feel the wetness in my panties begin to surface and I wasted no time in reaching for the waistband of his trousers.
His hands reached out to stop me and I gasped, instantly moving away as of his touch burnt me.
It was the bruise. It brought back too many horrible memories of our trip to the Caribbean. The scar he had as a result of almost beating the innocent man time death, I couldn't rid myself of the haunting thought.
"Sophia, what is wrong?" Demetrius stared at me with worried eyes as he cupped my cheek with his hand, I flinched away at his touch.
"I'm sorry, it's not your fault, I just need to be alone right now." I lied.
"But Sophia-" His surprise at my abrupt dismal was clearly shown.
"Leave Demetrius, please." I turned around, not being able to bare his bruised knuckles staring me right in the face.
I could feel his hands rest hesitantly on my shoulders, but I only shook it away.
I heard him loudly curse before leaving the room.
*[In Cassandra’s house]*
"This is comedy gold!" I stood helpless as I allowed my excited best friend to take multiple pictures of my outfit.
I grimaced as she showed me the image on her camera where Demetrius had my shirt custom made, to print out in bold letters, 'Married to Demetrius Mavros.' Since then, I have been avoided like the plague and I can't even walk through the streets without having someone quiver in fear at the mere sight of me.
"Okay, you've had your fun, now help me." I pleaded desperately.
"Are you really asking for help?" She asked in shock, raising an eyebrow.
"Um yes." I answered unsurely.
"Sophia, the answer is crystal clear." She sighed, shaking her head at me.
“I have no idea what you're getting at.” I gave her a look as she sighed at my inability to understand her.
"One word. Divorce." She shrugged absentmindedly as she searched through the images she had previously taken.
"It's official, you've gone absolutely bonkers!" I exclaimed, still getting over my shock at her horrible suggestion.
"Why not?" She glared at me.
I looked down knowing she would hate what I was about to say next. "I love him." I whispered as I played with the ends of my shirt.
"Love?" She questioned with distaste. "Sophia do you even know the meaning of the word love?"
"I'm not an imbecile." I defended.
"Then you would have realized ages ago that the relationship between you and your 'husband' is an exact replica of F̶i̶f̶t̶y ̶S̶h̶a̶d̶e̶s ̶o̶f ̶G̶r̶e̶y!"
"You have no right to talk about my marriage like that!" I shouted back feeling my temper rising.
"Marriage? More like a master and his slave, that idiot of a man basically had you on an invisible l3ach at the last family dinner!"
I could just stand still and watch her insult my husband like he was some BD$M enthusiast. I slapped her, hard, I watched in anger as she went flying to the floor.
She held her crimson cheek in shock and stared up at me with wide eyes.
"I came to you for help, a solution to get over my fear, not for you to insult my husband." I whispered emotionless as I watched her slowly stand up.
"Oh, you mean the truth? Fine, I won't give you that, instead, I'll tell you what you want to hear. Stay with him, continue to allow him dictate your life, tell you what to do, no feeling of freedom, constantly having to watch as be almost commits murder, constantly having to find a way to get over the psychological effects of his anger. That's what you want for yourself? Fine, go, but don't come back to me when it all falls apart." She stared ate with glossy eyes and I could tell I had really hurt her, but I wouldn't allow Cassandra to paint an untrue picture that made my husband seem like an animal.
"I'm sorry Cassandra, for everything, but I love him." Was all I said before walking away, out of her door and out of her life. As I stood silently on the street of her home, I cried thinking of my best friend of fifteen years, whom I had lost.
