The three-month training period was over and the King ordered the following: Chief Knight Kaiser, Chief Grand Mage Olivia, and Priest Sebastian V, to accompany the twenty-four heroes to the dungeon in Scavian Province. The King had specific instructions for the twenty-four Heroes to register as adventurers so that they can do quests on the way to Scavian.
The traveling group rode on horseback for fourteen hours and finally arrived at the flourishing town of Paytun.
“Finally, we arrived!” celebrated Akiko. “May god bless our stay here!”
“Ara~” joined Shigeko. “I agree may we have a magnificent stay.”
Masashi stared at them, “What's up with them?”
“Must have been the Priestess training,” Yaso answered. “I heard it was pretty hardcore.”
“Here we are,” declared Sebastian. “So many memories. It's been 9 years since I've been here.”
“Agreed, Head Priest, we were at the same party then,” Kaiser remarked.
“You two were adventurers?” Tsukiko asked.
“Yes I was,” said Kaiser. “I was twelve years old then.” Then Kaiser made an accent, “Fresh out of the countryside to make a decent living. Never have I thought I would become a knight.”
“How about Miss Olivia?”
“No, I wasn't. My family didn't allow me, no matter how hard I begged.”
The group entered the enormous Guild Hall in town. The beautiful desk greeted the large group.
“Welcome to the Paytun City Adventurer's Guild. How may I be of servi–” her eyes widened. “Oh my! It’s Kaiser!!”
The staff that was bustling around the guild and some old-timers stopped to look. They saw Kaiser and greeted him merrily with laughter.
“I guess… I’m back.”
The guild erupted into cheers and hearty welcomes. Drinks were passed around and people gathered around the Chief Knight.
“Ahh, Kaiser, approached the clerk, “it's been a while. How may I help you?” she winked.
The voluptuous and beautiful desk clerk was enthusiastic after seeing her old comrade-in-arms. This enthusiasm caused the deadly jealous stares from Olivia.
“Mary, it has been a while,” Kaiser said kindly.
“Yes, I think it has been nine years.”
“Yeah, I’ve been quite busy. Sorry, I couldn’t visit.”
Mary giggled, “It’s fine, but you've become a wonderful knight! Do you have–”
“Excuse me,” Kaiser politely interrupted, “may I speak to the guild master? It's quite important.”
“Ah, uh, yes. I shall bring him,” she left with much reluctance.
Olivia, being the jealous woman that she was, started to pester Kaiser about this woman.
“Kaiser–oi, Kaiser! Who is this woman? How does she know you so well? Explain yourself!”
“It's hard to be a ladies’ man isn't that right, Kaiser?” a bartender came by.
Kaiser, wishing there was an excuse to ignore Olivia, spoke to the bartender. “Oh, I know, ri–well, if it isn't Brandon! What’s up with the suit?”
“I have retired. An old man like me couldn’t last any longer.” he sighed as he reminisced about the nostalgic past. “You were just a gutsy boy, but you have grown into a splendid young man!”
“That’s thanks to your guidance, old geezer.”
“Hey! I may be sixty-five, but I'm not old… yet… Anyway, take this drink for your miss.”
“Kaiser,” Olivia nudged, “who are these people, and most importantly that woman?!”
“They're members of my old party—- Brandon the Great Sword, Mary the Swift Thief, Sebastian the Immortal Priest, then me.”
Brandon hummed appreciatively as he wiped a glass. He clicked his tongue in a joking manner “He earned a title when he was still an adventurer yet he doesn't use it. What a waste! Tsk, Tsk…”
Ayama poked his head through the circle and raised his hand.
“What was your title, Kaiser-sensei?”
Kaiser downed his large drink in one go. “Wyvern Slayer” he replied, almost in a whisper.
To Brandon’s amusement, the students that looked up to his old comrade gaped in awe. He smirked, “And as a matter of fact, our party was the fastest to reach [A Rank].”
Mary returned and confirmed his remark, “Yup, we were one reckless bunch.”
Sebastian, who was sitting right beside Kaise, murmured.
“Why do you young’uns still treat me like I'm air?”
They looked at him with an amused expression, “You're too quiet!”
“Urk, that’s true.”
“The guild master will see you now,” Mary announced.
“Olivia, may you lead the he- young nobles to the guild master and explain the situation. I'll stay here and have a drink with my old comrades,” said Kaiser.
“As a priest, I won't join you.”
“C’mon, you’re not getting away~” Mary teased.
“Fine, maybe a glass is fine.”
“Kaiser-sensei sure is popular,” Ayama remarked.
“Too popular if u ask me, hmph!” Olivia pouted.
“You’re just jealous of Mary, sensei,” commented Kenji.
“What was that, brat!?”
“N–Nothing!”
“Okay, children, wait here while discussing with the guild master. During that, form into groups.”
Olivia then entered the guild master's room and pulls out a letter signed with the king's signature.
This letter caught the eye of the guild master. He set his pen and cast a spell. “May the winds of death contain the sound around me, [Perimeter of Silence], chanted a man clad in a white robe.
“Hello, I’m Paytun City's Guildmaster, Gilbert Vanstrong. I see that you have come a long way to give me such an important letter. May I read it?”
“Of course, the letter was addressed to you.”
After the guild master Gilbert read the letter, he pulled out an [Orb of Honesty]. The same orb Priest Sebastian IV used on the heroes. The orb was one of the highest ranks. He called for all twenty-four Heroes and used his [Craftsmanship] to make the adventurer's ID out of some steel with tracking magic imbued into it.
“Madame Olivia,” Gilbert started, “I have done what was requested of me. Your turn to hold up your end of the bargain.”
“Of course. Here, hold this.” Olivia pulled a plate out of her [Spatial Storage] and handed it to the Guildmaster.
The plate she handed was a certificate with the king’s signature; if exchanged, it will be equal to one and a half million AU.
AU was the currency of the Kingdom of Earlshide. (AU is the chemical symbol of gold for you who didn't pay attention to chemistry out there XD)
“Alright, you bra– kids, have you formed your groups yet?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The Heroes grouped themselves almost exactly like their class groups:
1. Mean Group
2. Class officers
3. Popular group
4. Irregular group
5. Loner (Akiro)
Takumi was in the mean group being dragged by Masashi. Ayama ditched his group and joined Akiro.
“Now, we shall do quests. We will have a point system for quests: E rank = 3, F rank = 2, G rank = 1. By the end of 2 weeks, whoever gets the most points will get better privileges during our trip to the next town.”
***
Ayama and Akiro walked up to the quest board to check for G and F rank quests. Adventurers could take quests a rank above their own. Some drunk adventurers noticed this and started mocking the two.
“Wow, look at these two greenhorns. They are sooooooooooo weak! Noble children that just want to be super strong. Hahahahahaha!”
“Hahaha, you tell ‘em!”
Ayama responded, “Oh yeah? If we are so weak, beat me in an arm wrestle, you old fart.” Ayama intended no fight, but only a comeback at the insult.
“What’d you say to me, brat?”
“Triple D, eh? Drunk, dumb, and also deaf. Consider retiring, old man.”
“You got some mouth, kid. “How ‘bout I shut you up?”
“Only if you win in this bet: I'll bet two weeks' worth of highest quest rewards. Your turn.”
“I’ll do the same. I’ll even give you some extra! You won’t win anyway, hahaha!! I’m so nice.” The adventurer dropped a medium-sized pouch filled to the brim with shining gold and silver AU.
“Hah, sure. I’ll make sure to displace your ego.”
“This kid,” Akiro murmured at Ayama. “Always leaping before looking,” he sighed in pity.
“I know I’ll win, but do you think so?”
“It should rain in hell for you to lose.” Akiro used [Appraisal] on Ayama.
During the three months, he and Ayama had some private lessons from Kaiser, thus their skills ranked up exponentially. His [Appraisal] ranked up from F to D.

“Intelligence: 12? No wonder he’s a blockhead!!”
The challenger and the challenged crossed their right arms by the wrists.
“Three...two....one....go!" yelled the challenged’s companion.
The opponent placed all their strength onto the arm, and Ayama seemed to have placed less effort than him. Yet, Ayama wasn’t struggling, but the opponent did. Ayama yawned in boredom.
“Huh!? He’s not moving at all!!”
“That’s all you’ve got?”
“You must be cheating!”
Then, a hooded figure approached, “No, he’s not.”
“Unfortunately for you runt, he's just out of your league,” accompanied another figure.”
“How could you tell, you fraud?”
Akiro glanced nervously at the figure.
“Excuse me, but my [Apprasial] rank is at C.”
At this, Akiro sighed in relief. “I thought we were screwed. Good thing I had my [Disguise] skill at rank A thanks to Kaiser-sensei.”
Without pushing Ayama’s arm by an inch, the opponent yielded, “I give up.”
“Hahahahaha! Such a fool! Now I have this bag of money plus + two weeks' worth of your C rank quest rewards! You’re in my debt now!! Muhahahaha!”
Akiro whispered to Ayama, “You could at least give them financial mercy.”
Ayama guffawed, “Gamble responsibly! Hoy, my stupid lackey, go do quests for me~!”
Ayama the good class president was secretly a sadistic bad boy and broke every rule in the school book but never got caught, somehow!
The umpire at Akiro with his knife to hold him hostage for leverage from Ayama.
Ayama and both of the hooded figures remarked, “Dumbass.”
Akiro caught the attacker’s wrist with his left hand and twisted it past its limit and spun around while using his right elbow to break his right forearm.
Then, while grabbing his shattered forearm, Akiro used his left arm to dislocate his right shoulder breaking his upper arm in the process.
“AHHHHHH!!” he screamed in pain. “Stop–stop!! I give up!!!” he cried.
Akiro persisted.
“Ah–ah–AH!!! I–I’ll give you money– OUCH!! Please!!”
“How much?” Akiro grinned.
“A–All of it!! Please, mercy!!”
“Not enough,” Akiro squeezed harder, “be my slave as well.”
“Okay–okay–owkay!! Let go already!!”
Akiro freed him, and he fled.
Kaiser and his old comrades who were watching laughed.
“Oh my, Kaiser! What the hell did you teach those kids?” Mary asked.
“I–I didn’t teach them that.”
“Seems like you were worried for nothing. Those two were monsters,” Brandon remarked.
“Damn, bro, you destroyed his arm!”
“That’s self-defense.”
“Yeah, yeah, ‘self-defense,’”
Both hooded figures removed their cloaks and introduced themselves. They both turned out to be two beautiful young and aspiring adventures about Ayama and Akiro's age.
“The name’s Sume Uesugi. I am a Samurai.”
“Nice to meet you! I’m her sister, Otome Uesugi. A priestess.”
“Likewise. I’m Ayama Nobu, a Tanker.”
“Just a thief, Akiro Hiroto.”
“You’re quite strong for those jobs,” Sume said.
“You’re much better than us,” Akiro replied. “[Appraisal].”

“Were you lying about being an Appraiser?” Akiro asked.
“Not exactly. It's one of my skills. My sub-class is a bit... sought after by elites for my protection. I mastered [Lying], but my [Disguise] is underwhelming.
Akiro leaned to Ayama, “Hey.”
“What” he whispered.
“She’s pretty good at lying, so we can't rust her completely, but her sister is trustworthy. The priest is a masochist, by the way.”
“That’s… a detail.”
“Hey~ you're done already~?” Otome beckoned.
Ayama stared at her.
“See?” Akiro whispered.
“Okay~ So, we have a request.
“What is it?” Ayama asked.
“We’d like to join your party.”
Akiro and Ayama glanced at each other and said, “S–sure…?”
“Great~ so what will be our first quest?”
“Ayama, lead the way,” said Akiro.
“What? Why me?”
Akiro just faced the other direction.
“Ugh, this guy…!” he muttered. “Fine! Ladies, what quest would you like to take?”
“Goblin subjugation~” they both answered.
“Of course it is. Why’d I even ask?”
The party headed to the counter where quests were submitted.
They met with the desk clerk, and the clerk recognized them. Desk clerk, “Aren’t you the boy who beat that jerk?”
“That jerk?” Ayama asked.
“Yeah, that bastard– anyway, your request is approved, young man.”
“Thank you.”
“Guess who’s popular?” Akiro teased.
“Let's go!” Sume waved her fist into the air. “Let's do these quests and get our first quest as a team!”
Otome referred to the quest paper, “It says here that we are to travel to the Forest of Paytun and kill at least thirty goblins; we should collect their belongings and cut their ears as proof of subjugation.”
After a few minutes of walking, the group finally reached the forest.
“Are we here yet?” Akiro grumbled.
“I believe so,” Ayama stated unconfidently. “I'll be in the front; Otome will be in the middle while Akiro and Sume will be beside her on each side.”
“Oh, my,” Sume leered, “Why are you being overprotective of Otome?”
“W–what!? I’m not! This is just tactics!”
“Hm… sus–pi–cious,” Akiro added.”
“Get off my case.”
While the two were picking on Ayama, a small, ugly, green creature with long ears appeared. This ugly spawn of nature that came from this world's god-forsaken space-rock started to smile in happiness as it saw its prey.
The green bastard started to charge at the group of four adventurers with his roughly made flint knife.
Ayama blocked the goblin's strike with the steel shield that he bought with his winnings. Simultaneously, Sume drew her katana adroitly slicing the goblin perfectly in the middle. The blood splattered on Ayama’s shield.
“Bloody damn,” he reacted.
“Nice one, onee-san!” Otome cheered.
“That’s one small kill for the party,” Akiro declared.

“There’s XP,” Akiro thought.
“Nice! We got XP!” Sume reacted.

“That's a lot of text,” muttered Akiro.
“Did you say something, Akiro?” wondered Sume.
“Sume-chan, don't worry about that guy. Sometimes when he formulates plans, strategy, or just thinking, it leaks out,” stated Ayama.
“I see. He’s just like onee-san!” said Otome.
“I–I do… that sometimes…” blushed Sume.
Akiro was in deep thought, not heeding his surroundings. Suddenly a goblin sneaked behind Akiro with a knife in hand.
“[Square Strike].”
However, Akiro was quicker with his knife and cleaved the goblin into six different pieces in four strokes without even looking.
“Akiro, stop going off-world and return to earth!”
“Sorry, was checking on something.
Later, the party stumbled upon a goblin settlement and eradicated it with ease. The group then collected all the ears, knives, and gold nose rings from the noses of all the dead goblins
Akiro whispered, “[Status].”
