Strange You

I was sitting on the floor when JZ suddenly came and sat next to me

"I am only 9 years old when uncle brought me to the camp", he said

I only look at him and ready myself to listen

"He wasn't my real uncle but I call him that. He became the family for me~my mother my father and my brother....", he said continuously

"Where're your parents?", I asked

"I got separated from them. I don't know where are they now. I left home that day and got kidnapped. I was rescued and so as others but I was traumatized by what had happened. I can't talk for a month so uncle brought me home", JZ said

"Home? where is that?"

"I came from the Philippines and uncle brought me to US~in a camp where I am trained to be good at things I do", he said

"But you don't look like a Filipino~", I said

"That's what others say also but I came from my homeland~ the Philippines!"

"So, your uncle is a soldier? then that means you are~?", I asked with curiosity

"yes.... actually, I shouldn't tell you about me but I think I could trust you isn't it?", he said while looking straight into my eyes

I just nodded. Now I already got an idea about how he got that stab wound. At least..he doesn't appear as a bad guy to me after all. Then I got reminded about yesterday...

"Yesterday...~"

"You came ...right?...Alex told me", JZ said with a smile

"Geez, that guy is really~"

I got pissed but controlled it

"So... yesterday.... what happen?.. it's your birthday but he said it's a misery to you?", I asked frankly

He paused for a minute

"My birthday is not a happy day for me... it's my sorrow. I was on a mission that day ~to save a hostage. I promised the little girl to save his dad ... I saved him but that day also~ there are more of them to help the group. We got ambushed...the hostage and half of my team didn't make it. Only 3 of us survived by pretending we're dead", JZ said in his teary eyes

I suddenly gave him pats in the head. I was shocked by what I've heard. So the reason for his sorrow was really sad.

"It's alright~ we make mistakes but what happened in the past is not your fault. Don't take the blame for yourself"

"hmm That's the only thing I can do to remember that moment...it would be a lesson for me...an inspiration to learn more things so I could protect people around me and won't make a big mistake like before", JZ said

He suddenly stare at me and I also did. Then that moment was awkward. We're like reading each other's thoughts. I suddenly got up from my seat

"Ahh, I have to go...I forgot that I have things to do first!..", I said

"ahm okay.. bye~..." he said and smiled

Then I went out as fast as I can

"Jaehwa! you should call JZ~ he's not here yet", said Mr. Park

"Uhm..yes dad"

It was already night and we all agreed to have dinner on the rooftop. Alex is already with us...my friend Jesoo also agreed to have an overnight in our house.

I went to their place next door. I wanted to surprise him so I slowly open the door and went in but saw no one inside.. slowly walking~it was so quiet

"Who are you?"

I was startled and got frozen suddenly when I felt something pointing at my head~ I can't be mistaken... it's a gun!

"Jaehwa?..."

"y..y..es", I said in a trembling voice

"oh..I...I'm sorry...I didn't expect you to come and sneak like that~", said JZ

He put the gun down

We paused for a moment. I saw some guns in the table~unloaded. Then he went back to his seat near the table

He stopped

"So...why did you come? do you need anything?", asked JZ

"Uhmm we will have dinner on the rooftop~dad asked me to call you. Alex was already there.."

"Aahh I forgot about that~ anyway... thanks for the invitation but I might not come. I have my eating routine. I only eat every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and ....Sunday", said JZ

I was confused. I went back to my normal self and so as my talking for he also turned to the old JZ that I used to talk to

"I don't understand.....Why is there such?"

"It's part of my training and I got used to it for my balance~", said JZ

Then he gets back on cleaning and checking the guns

"Okay...I ...I should..go now then..", I said

I was about to leave when...

"Uhmm maybe I could have a drink?..... only?..", he said

"mmm sure!", I responded with a smile

He fix his things and went out with me. Everyone was busy cooking when we get there. My sister was helping Alex to grill pork. I help my mom prepare the table until it's done

"This is the first time that we will eat together... let's enjoy the food...help yourself.. we're family here now", said Mr. Park

"Let's enjoy the food!!", said all and made a toss

JZ didn't touch the food. He only drinks the soju with Alex and dad. Alex is not a good drinker so he was already drunk in just a few cups. JZ accompanied Alex back to their room. I saw JZ's phone left on the table so I run after them. JZ already took Alex in the room and lay him in bed

knocked three times..then opened the door

"hey...JZ... you left your phone", I said and handed it to him

"oh... Thank you"

I just give a smile and am about to leave...

"Do you have anything to watch? A movie?", asked JZ

Confused...

"Uhm...what kind of movie?", I asked

"anything?"

"Horror movies?...", I suggested

"Ah no!! no...I...I don't like horror movies", he said

Then I smiled...

"You're afraid?"

I didn't expect that this man is afraid of horror movies. He's not afraid of his job but he's afraid of horror movies. He's weird! Then later on...I came up with a sad movie. I watched it with him. I was crying while watching but he didn't even have any reaction. Instead, you could see how bored he is!

"Okay... the movie's done. I gotta go back", I said

"Let's have another one... I'll choose this time", he said

I sat back. I can't believe what I've seen. He watched a cartoon movie~ and he cried over it. Now he's weird.

"Really??... you're crying over this movie?", I asked

He didn't answer...

"I should go back now... my dad might be looking for me already~", I said

He's still crying and watching like he doesn't hear me at all. I just left him crying over it.

"What the heck is wrong with him?"

But suddenly it made me laugh
