Café Troubles

      " Now, for the designer of the year, the award goes to Miss Adele Bloom!" the host announced. All the heads in the room turned towards me. Overjoyed from the announcement, I bounced from my seat and made my way to the stage. My legs working faster than my heartbeat, suddenly I felt my ankle twist, I lost my balance, and sht down I went, my face hitting the cold floor! Ah....*

        "Damn it" I squeaked, waking myself up from the hell of a dream I just had. "What a lovely way to start one's morning!" I muttered getting up from the floor of my apartment, which.... ah... I've been sharing with my 2 roomies/besties.

        I lazily unlocked my second hand phone and checked the time, 7 am!!? "Uh... the heck!" I shrieked, rushing to get ready.

       Apparently, today was the day I've been preparing for all week. A job interview at King Empires! The last decent job I had was managing a café, which sadly ended after I accidently spill tea on a customer.... Well, I believe my clumsiness takes the best of me.... But that's not the point, the point is my application got approved to interview for the designing department at King Empires! I have no idea why they did it, coz every time I apply for a job they would take one glance at me and dismiss me. You see for a 24 year old, glasses wearing, freckled, average EQ person like me, it's damn hard to get a job. Therefore, I've decided to get this one at any cost.

        I pulled out my neatly ironed formal black knee length skirt and a white shirt from my utterly unorganized closet. Next up, I tried to tame my wild curls and tie them in a knot bun. Giving myself a quick check in the mirror, I grabbed my stuff and ran out the door.

           I checked the time. 7:45 am. "Phew...." I sighed. Saved! There, returning from their morning walk, I saw, Irene and Becca, my roomies/besties. "Hey you guys! Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked, joining them.

           " Wake you up? You should've seen the look on your face while you were sleeping, it was too peaceful to disturb. So, we let it pass" Irene said jokingly. "By the way, where're you off to early?"

           "Literally you two? You forgot? It's my job interview today!" I told them.

            " It was today!" they said in unison. " Oh my geez, good luck gurl! When will it start?" Becca enquired.

             " 8.30, Luckily I still have time"

             " Great, we were going to grab some breakfast, c'mon accompany us!"

              "K, but make it quick." I said.

               There we were, Agnes's café. Our 2nd home. Waiting in the line, gossiping random stuff, Classic. We were like the 3 parts of a shamrock, I literally loved spending time with Becca and Irene.

               " Adele, how're you and Josh doing?" Becca asked

               " Yeah, we haven't heard you say anything about him in days." Irene said. Uh.. yeah, Josh, my 1 year old bf, with whom all I've ever done is go out on dates, hold hands and kiss!

              " It's fine, but it's kinda irritating me out, he's whole take-it-step-by-step thing." I shrugged, grabbing our order from the counter giving Agnes a small smile.

               " Um.... Do you think he has a problem, you know, maybe if he doesn't have a....." Irene said in the most serious tone she could use.

             "Yeah, maybe, just like you don't have a brain." Becca said sarcastically, and we all started laughing.

             I gave Becca a high-five, but accidently due to my excessive force, she stumbled and crashed into someone behind us. The person's coffee fell all over the floor. OOPSIES!

             He turned and glared at the three of us.

            "What the hell, don't you have eyes, goddammit! Freaking dunce!" the stunning but now rude man growled.

            " We're so sorry, we didn't mean to do it!" Irene apologized.

            " If sorry solved all the problems in the world, we wouldn't need the police, hooligan" He barked

            That's it. He broke my last straw. "Hey, we apologized right? It's just the matter of a coffee, we'll get you a new one." I said.

             "A coffee? Do you know, the thing your friend just spill was a limited Excelsa bean coffee? How many people in this world do you think could make it or be able to even get a taste of it?" He stated.

             "Adele, I think we should apologize again" Becca whispered to me.

             No way! He was so over his head.

            "I may not know much about exotic coffees mister, but I do have experience in making quite delicious ones, so if you'll excuse me." I said and went over to Agnes and asked for a favor.

             I returned moments later, with a medium sized brewed low caffeinated coffee. And handed it to him.

             " I have no idea if it suites your taste but knowing you like Excelsa, you must savour coffees with caffeine content between 0.86 to 1.13g, so I made this. Now, we're even. Bon appétit." I said, his face totally blank.

              I pushed up my glasses from my nose and grabbed Bec and Irene's arms, making my way out.

              "Damn that was badass, gurl!" Becca chirped. "And a big thanks by the way".

               "No probs Bec." I said "Now, I gotta run, it's already 8.20, Bye Bye!"

               "Good Luck" they both wished.
