CHAPTER 6: THE UNEXPECTED

RIYA POV

This week has been one of the most horrible week ever... There was not a single clue about Sam... Zane was going crazy and top of that he was also tensed about me...

Yes he was worried about my safety because the psycho was back... After the creepy crawlies i got as a gift, we thought it would end there.....but unexpectedly it was the beginning of everything....

I started getting gifts or to be more precise creepy parcels every now and then from the creepy psycho on a regular basis...and they were all terrifying...

Just a glimpse of the parcel i received drenched me in cold sweats... After the blood sucking leeches, i again received another creepy parcel...my heart ached seeing it... It wa..s...my Bruno Baby.... He was covered with blood and was killed mercilessly.... He was my best buddy, my dearest dog... He was with me for 2 long years and helped me cope through my tough times....but now he's gone....he's no more....

And a letter accompanied that parcel freaking me out.... I opened it slowly with my shaking hands...

The context gave me goosebumps, "BABY GIRL! BABY GIRL! THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING"...." i am going to make you and your loved ones suffer more than 100 times the pain i suffered without u".... I was sooo shocked and started crying badly. I could not control my sobs... I did not sleep for nearly 2 days and 3 nights. Because whenever i'll close my eyes, i'll only see the horrible memories of my past and the psycho's face...

After that incident, Zane increased the security around us and he did not let me get even a slightest glimpse of those creepy presents... He took care of it... But i was so heartbroken as my BRUNO BABY was dead, moreover he was brutally killed....

Dai tried to convince me, but bruno baby, he was like my little brother who i loved a lot. Whenever i think of the happy memories we made, my heart aches and the weak tears pour out unconsciously... The memories we spent remained memories. I cannot touch him, feed him, play with him nor cuddle sleep with him...

I know everyone must be thinking that i forgot  about Sam, no, no, i did not... Because i did not know how to find her or where to find her... And i'm even more scared for her now. Zane was searching for her like a madman... He had huge eyebags underneath his eyes. He has lost few pounds already. Neither does he eat nor does he sleep. If it goes on like this, his health will deteriorate. But compared to us, he's kinda stronger. With the speed he has working on finding Sam, may be it's for the best that he knows it. There's a reason, why i refused to spill the beans about Sam to him.

When i was in my own world, i got a text from an unknown number... My heart beat crazily tapped against my chest... I opened the text with trembling hands....

"Oh my love! I miss u sooo much!! You are so heartless....how could u ignore my hand-picked carefully lacked presents?... I'm disappointed and unhappy with your behaviour. You ridiculed my love... I'm so mad at you now... So guess what, i have prepared an unexpected present for you... "

I screamed internally, 'oh my god, what the f*ck is he blabbering in the texts'....' I held the phone so tightly that my palm started to ache... The unexpected word was highlighted...i tried to read it further...

"This time it will be the best present. It will dig out all of our past memories which u have burried deep inside you...today i'm filled with content and peace... Do as i say because it is about your best friend Sam or your sis-in-law...."

Seeing her name my heart skipped a beat... I continued to unravel the phrases....

"Now you'll do what i say... You have to receive the parcel i sent, on your own... if anyone else dares to touch it you will never ever see your precious friend back ALIVE... Now run to the maindoor baby, don't waste your precious time... Your friend's clock is ticking...tiktoktiktok...."

I ran towards the maindoor like a hungry dog... I unlocked the door and saw a parcel on the same place.... I hesitated for a moment. But i made up my mind to face it. I took a deep breath and with my shaking hands i took the parcel and went inside.... I slammed the door behind me and sat on the couch in the living room...

Dai and Zane were not at home...they were busy looking for Sam... As i was not in a good condition, they wanted to give me some space alone, so they left me home...and also for my own safety...

I unpacked the parcel slowly with trembling hands... I was sweating profusely in tension. And i noticed a paper box in it...i paused for a minute before reaching for it. I opened it. It was a thunderstroke for me... My pupils widened and my breath hitched. It was Sam's outfit. It was attire she wore before she went missing... It was fully blood stained... I was afraid, afraid of what happened to her. It was a big blow to my mind. I wrapped my arms around it and started sobbing my heart out. "N..No, No, No, she must be s..safe, n...nothing c..can happen to h..her...", I consoled myself whilst my useless sobs...

Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!

My phone started buzzing...i held back my tears and answered the phone, it was again the unknown number.... I picked it up with fright....and whispered in a low voice, "h-h-hel-l-l-o"

He said, "ooh baby come on, don't be scared"

I asked, " w-where is S-sam?" my voice cracked it came and it out as a whisper....

He said," baby u know what? You were not fast enough to receive my present. You hesitated not once but tewice.. So how about i kill her"

'I was totallly stunned by his statement..'

NOOOOO" i yelled reflexly....

"PLEASE,...PLEASE....PLEASE" i screamed and begged.....with my tear-filled eyes...

He said, "baby ur begging makes me feel better. To be honest it is turning me on...i missed it so much...hahaha...(evil laugh)...how about we play a game...there is a clue in the parcel, if u find it within 30 seconds, then i will spare her"....." ur time starts now..1..2..3.........10.."

I was shocked and could not move my body until it was 1p seconds. Then i came to my sense and frantically searched for the clue... I did not waste even a second after that... I could not find it in the parcel... Then i unfolded the blood stained dress, something fell from it on the ground....

My gaze fell on the ground where i dropped it...It-It was a finger.... It had a ring on it...it was a present from Zane to Sam...i was sure that it was Sam's ring finger by the nail paint and mole... I felt a weird pain in my heart as if someone slashed my heart with a knife... My heart shattered into millions of pieces spotting it... I could not control my sobs anymore... i fell on my knees and started crying hard.....

He counted,"23...24...more 5 seconds babes"

His voice brought me back to reality and i saw a paper tied to the finger which i failed to notice the previous time.... I was shaking severely now....i hurriedly and shakily untied the paper and discerned the words...

"go to XXX factory within 30 mins, if u want her alive"

I felt even more helpless and panicked. I could neither breath nor feel a moment peace.

" B***ARD, WHAT DID U DO TO HER"..i yelled aloud weeping badly....

I grabbed my hair and started pulling it like a mad girl in frustration and sorrow...

He laughed like a maniac," HAHAHAHAHA..... Baby don't waste ur time, u only have 27 mins now... And come ALONE...",he stressed the last word dangerously...

"have a nice day"... He said smirking which was clearly audible.... And he hung up..

It was totally unexpected...i never expected a day like this would come, when i will be the reason for the misfortunes happening in my loved ones life. It's all because of me... I didn't wanna take risk. For safety reasons and back up, i elucidated the long story short in a letter and placed it on the table. Then i grabbed my car keys and sprinted out...

I never thought he would again touch one of my loved ones... I am a weakling... Again i failed to protect my loved one... why am i such an useless person?... Tears of helplessness were continuously flowing from my eyes....

I guess unexpected things happen to us at unexpected time.... It's true that life's always filled with surprises, either good or bad... I could still feel myself shaking in fear of what i would encounter...

No,no,no, but this time i will not fail and i will protect her at any cost...even if i have to sacrifice my life, i'll do it without any second thoughts....I will not let anything happen to anyone anymore...Even though my fear grew more but i decided to toss it aside for now.... I have to be strong..... I wiped my tears and headed towards the destination speeding my car beyond the safety limit...
