chapter 1: New start

Rain POV:

I pushed the door of the apartment where I am going to stay from now on. At least till I finish my high school.

As soon as I opened the door a new room's smell hit me.

I entered inside, put my luggage in a corner and started roaming around the house. The landlady wanted to show me the place by herself but I just told her it's ok.

It's an one bedroom apartment. It has an attached bathroom, kitchen and a balcony.I am with this place. I went to the balcony and a warm wind brushed pass me. "it's really nice" I said with a smile and came inside and started unpacking my luggage.

So here's the question who am I.

I am Rain. I'm sixteen years old and a high school 1st year student. Black Ace high, a really prestigious school in LA. Only high class family's kids gets admitted.

It's kind of my dream school and I got an scholarship in this school. I am really good at arts. I want to be an famous painter and fashion designer. So I attended a competition and it gave me the ticket for this school.

Now you may ask I am sixteen but still living alone? So the thing is my mom died when I was 6 and my father.....let's not talk about that.and the family I have lived so far doesn't want me anymore for some reasons.

But it's ok . I can still be happy. Afterall I am starting school next week. I know my mom would have been really happy if she see now. Just thinking about my mom brought tears to my eyes.

I remove the tears with the back of my hand and finally finished unpacking. Ok so everything is settled now.

Even after all these I really hope life has many things good for me.

I don't know how I am going to handle this living alone process but I still hope that I'll manage somehow.

My mother has left some savings for me that I never needed to use before . I never really need many things.

So the money is quite intact. I can use it now for food and other things. But for the house rent I think I should find a part-time job. that will help.

I saw the clock and it says it's already 6pm. I just had a quick dinner and went to bed at 8pm. I'll search for a job tomorrow.

While lying I stare at the ceiling and just some thoughts came in my mind about the conversation that I had with my ....well let's not think about that. It'll only make me sad.

Mom please watch over me and bless me from heaven.

While thinking about my mom I fastly fall asleep.

Next morning I woke up at 6am and did my daily routine. I have some toast and tea for breakfast. And it was already 8 am. Then I did some house chores which I'm really good at because of my previous family. I don't know if I can still call them family or not.

At 10am I got ready and go out for job hunting.

Currently I am sitting in a bench of a park. Because After roaming for quite long I still didn't find one job because they thought I am a child and I can't do anything. Well I can't blame them I am a kid. I am sixteen years old and I am nearly 5 feet which even make me look more like a child. And maybe my outfit too . actually not maybe I'm sure it's the reason too.

I am sadly sitting on the bench with my elbows on my thighs and my chin on my palm when my eyes fell on a board infront of a cafe across the road.

It says they are hiring new people. I don't know if I have a chance or not but it doesn't hurt to try right.

So with hope I went into the store . There are actually many people there just few booths are empty and saw a women maybe in her early 40s on the counter.

"Hello, dear . How may I help you?" She asked me with a warm smile.

I returned her smile and said, " amm...hello, I actually saw the board outside. So can I apply for it?"

She saw for a minute and then again smile and said , " yes of course.we opened this place just some months ago.so we are really short handed."

"I see . So what do I need to do for the job?" I asked her hopefully.

"Let's just take a small interview .come-on follow me.maria can you handle here a bit?"

She said and red with girl came in front .

"Yes ma'am.i am on it."she replied with a smile and started her work.

And I follow the boss in her office room . She told me to sit and said,"ok my name is Lisa and I am the owner of this 'li's cafe'."

"hello, I am Rain. I am a student of Ace high."

"What a pretty name!! You are a high school student. So you are young. did you work somewhere before?"

"No...I didn't but I think I can do many things if I just know what it is." I said and kind of scared that it's my disadvantage.

"Ok so can you do cleaning and serving ??"

"Yes..yes of course I can" I exclaimed with a little bit high voice.

She chuckled on me and said," I see quite some energy there. That's what I need ."

I timidly looked down and blushed.she smiled again and said," so let's talk about your payment.what do you say?".

I am staring at her and blinking.and I'm quite sure my mouth is slightly parted.

Then a minute later I came back from my trance and finally open my mouth to ask the question of the day.

"Does that mean I'm hired?" I am still in a bit of shock.

She softly laughed at me and said ," yes my dear .you are hired. Welcome to ''li's cafe''. You can start from tomorrow your shift will be 4 pm to 8pm. Is that ok for you?"

"Yes !! It's completely ok for me.!! It's perfect actually." I stood up and again exclaimed.

And there's a big smile on my face .

Lisa also smiled and said ," I am looking forward to work with you ,Rain . Let's go I'll introduce you to your partners.come on."

She said asked me to follow. I followed her out of the office room and the first one she introduced me to is maria.

She is  a girl with red hair and black eyes.

"Maria, this our new server Rain. And Rain this is Maria."Lisa said.

I forwarded my hand and said ,"hello , I am Rain. I'll be in your care from now on."

Maria give me a big smile and held my hand ," wow !! What a pretty little girl.!! I really like you. Consider me as your friend ok?"

Friend?? This word is quite foreign to me . I never had any friend.

I give her a big smile and said , "thank you Maria. I really appreciate it ."

"Aww ...what a cutie..boss. !!, Maria said and patted my head.

"Right you are.." Lisa said.

I just looked down and blushed. then I came to know that Maria is 20 years old and a student of Los Angeles University,the best one of here.then Lisa introduce me to other workers . I am really happy I already have a friend.looks like my new life is already starting good.
