Cornia Magic Academy

Cornia Magic Academy. An academy which produces most capable magicians throughout the empire. Most high class nobles enroll in it. Commoners also attend in it but discrimination follows through. And my father have enrolled me and tomorrow is the day of newcomers reporting in academy.

As scheduled, I reached the academy on time. For newcomers, an entrance ceremony was going to be held in auditorium. On my way, to ceremony, many people were continuously staring at me and gossiping among themselves about me. After all, my reputation as a lazy is of high tier. Not heeding their words, I arrived at the auditorium were newcomers were welcomed.

I entered. The students were gossiping without paying any attention to me. Then a group of high rank nobles including crown prince entered through another gate. All students went to him to greet him. It seems the crown prince is same age as me. Even though I am a high rank noble, nobody greeted me. It looks like my reputation is known to everyone. I sat on the last row where was nobody was sitting. It was quite good place to sleep before ceremony begins. And the from the last row, everything was visible. The excitement of students was really worth something. Everybody is excited and were  introducing themselves. Then something caught my eye. I noticed a big crowd of students in front row. Curiously, I thought of peeking a bit. I used "sense enhancement". It heightens the five senses. After observing for a while, I understood the reason of gathering. The crown prince and other high rank nobles were sitting on the  exclusive front seats. And the students were there to make connections. This academy's objective is to make best magicians but nobles also attend here to make connections. If a student here is of high rank or a genius then the others follow them to show loyalty in order for their future support. In other words, It is like political parties or factions. The head is an individual who is capable of political influence and the others are the one who support him. And in exchange, they use his name for their own needs.

It's better to stay away from politics. Then I noticed that there is time left before the start of ceremony. So I thought of it would be good to take a short nap. Supporting my hands on the seat in front, I dozed off.

I don't know how much time passed, but suddenly felt killing intent. I suddenly woke up and I changed into battle stance. And then I found that everybody was laughing at me. Even the teachers were laughing at me. And then suddenly a mana wave rushed in. It made everybody silence. The one who made everybody silent was the headmaster Lorten. In this time, I tried to figure out what was wrong. Then i noticed the situation. The facts are

I was sleeping, which was not a big deal according to my reputation.

I was sleeping, even in the midst of ceremony and was noticed by headmaster.

So these are the facts. I was only sleeping. Now what's the problem? Hmm. It is a big problem!!! After all I don't want to be expelled in the first day!!! Then I corrected my posture. Then the headmaster suddenly used Appraisal. But it looks like it didn't worked. From his face, I knew that he was a bit shocked.

Appraisal is a skill which shows you the information, but it also have certain limitations. The first fact about skills is that every skill contains a rank. Even the same skill have certain ranks between them. My appraisal was of highest tier because I got it from Valhard. And the headmaster's appraisal skill was below the mine rank. But why didn't his skill worked? Appraisal is a skill which shows you info, it doesn't help you to stop somebody's appraisal. Headmaster wasn't able to see my information because of my "concealment" skill. This skill helps in hiding information. And me concealment skill was of high rank and due to this he wasn't able to see my personal information. This was the first reason. And the second reason was because I am stronger than headmaster.

The facial complexion of headmaster was a bit off. After a few second, he regained his composure and asked me

《What is your name?》

《Eric Valhard 》

After hearing my response, he stopped for a few second. Then he said

《Report me after the ceremony.》

I nodded and he told me to have my seat. Just when I was sitting suddenly somebody launched a magic attack at me. It was a sonic blade - offensive sound magic blade which is invisible to eyes. I quickly casted dispel - spell which negates other magic. But nobody else noticed. Then I searched for the attack through magic trace - spell which can trace the place where magic activation occurred within a certain time. In other words it is like footprints. Just the difference is that footprints shows the direction where somebody walked and magic trace shows where somebody casted a spell.

Then I found that headmaster was the one. I looked at his face and he was smiling. I was a bit angry but I thought of asking him during my report. I sat down. Then, he started his speech. He welcomed the students, thanked the teachers and was giving motivation. He then spoke about the duties magicians have and told the ethics of magicians. And then his speech ended. Then other teachers spoke which contained about the rules which we have to abide. And after some time the ceremony was over.
