Chapter 04: Visit and Reunion (01)

While walking down the hallway Luxiana was trying to familiarize herself with outline of this mansion so that she won't get lost if she wander around.

“My lady, here we are.” Luxiana and Atie as well as some maids stop in front of a wooden double door.

Beside that door was a maid who had her head bow down.

“Is Helena is here?”

“Yes, young lady.”

“I want to see her, open the door.”

The maid seems hesitant to open the door. Luxiana notice this and slightly raise her eyebrow.

“Are you ignoring my order?” she asked in annoyed tone. The maid shook her head before answering.

“No, young lady, the thing is... Lord Ginemoux ordered that no one should visit young lady Helena until the punishment is over.” the maid explained herself.

Luxiana frowned a bit before speaking again.

“I know but I want to see my younger sister. While I'm asking you nicely open the door or I will sell you as a slave.” Luxiana's voice is low and cold.

The maid slightly flinch at the coldness of her tone. But instead of fearing the maid remained had still the same attitude.

“I'm afraid I can't comply to your order, young lady.”

Luxiana frowned deeply this time. She was staring at the maid when she suddenly felt that someone was poking her. She turned around and saw that Atie was looking at her. Atie got closer to her ear and whispered.

“My lady, that maid is not from here.” Luxiana slightly flinch before looking at the maid.

She look at the uniform that the maid is wearing and the uniform that Atie is wearing. They have the same color of dark blue but it certainly have different design. While staring at the maid, she suddenly heard the shattering of the glass inside the double wooden door.

Luxiana quickly approach the door but the maid quickly blocked it before she could touch the handle of the door.

“Get out of the way.” Luxiana command but the maid just shook her head.

Victoria does not much have of that patience dealing annoying things and she easily tend to get angry. But now is different because she is now Luxiana, she at least need to act like proper noble young lady.

She took a deep breath before speaking.

“Get this maid out of the way.” Luxiana commanded and the maids as well as Atie quickly respond.

When the maid was finally away she tried to open the double door but to her surprise it was locked. Losing the tiny bit of patience remaining in her body, Luxiana furiously slammed the door with her two hands before speaking in a slightly higher tone.

“Open this door right now.” anger was visible in her voice.

It took sometime before the door was finally unlocked. She pushed the two wooden door as she entered the room. The first thing she saw was her younger sister standing on top of a stool, the back of her legs are visible and she can see a lot whip marks on her legs.

When she was about to approach Helena somebody block her way. Her eyes glared at the woman who block her way.

“It's an honor for meet you, young lady Luxiana. I am Fer, one of Count Claire's people.” the woman who's hair tied in a bun respectfully bowed in front of her.

‘Count Claire again?’

Luxiana can't contain her anger and want to vented it to someone but at the same time she is thinking that getting carried away by anger won't do her any good. She can't do harsh things as she is the daughter of a Marquis and more importantly her plan will be ruined if she act harshly.

Luxiana took a deep breath.

“You are one of the people of Count Claire? How come you are here at Ginemoux residence?”

“Count Claire send me here to discipline young lady Helena.” the woman answered in a well-mannered tone.

‘So whipping is now a part of discipline, huh.’

Luxiana faintly smiled, a sudden thought came across her mind.

‘If I can't do harsh things to maintain my image, I can still use the power and status I have.’

“Does my father know about this kind of discipline you're doing?”

Unlike earlier Luxiana was now calm and collected. The traces of urgency and anger in her voice disappeared. All you can see was pure calmness but that calmness makes someone nervous.

Fer, one of Count Claire's people, was looking at Luxiana and thinking about the words she heard from her. For her Luxiana was a brat of the two powerful pillars of the empire. She wasn't aware of the status she have and her influence in the empire. Fer, as a greedy old woman she wants to teach this brat a lesson of lifetime.

“I'm disciplining Lady Helena according to the punishment given to me by Marquis Ginemoux. Lady Helena was out of line last time because she slandered and insulted Lady Parmys. I'm just doing what I'm told to do.”

‘A punishment like this for insulting a count's daughter? What a bullshit.’

Luxiana maintained her calmness. She took a light sigh before speaking again.

“Atie, help Helena and sit her on the couch. Someone fetch a female doctor.”

“Lady Luxiana! You can't—”

“Lady Fer, have you forgotten where were you again? This isn't Count Claire's mansion, this is Ginemoux mansion. Who gave you the permission to speak when you're not given to?”

Fer suddenly shuddered at the coldness of Luxiana's voice. She was still calm but her voice was cold. Fer was questioning if she was really Luxiana. She can't utter a word back because Luxiana said was true.

While Fer was contemplating on her thoughts, Luxiana was feeling happy seeing Fer bow her head and can't fight back.

‘Ha, it really feels good when your enemies can't fight back.’

Luxiana thought that her words make Fer doubt about her personality so she decided to change the tone of her voice.

“Lady Fer, I didn't know you would take my words seriously. Oh, please I'm just a young lady with no influence at all.” Luxiana was slightly smiling as she said those words.

Those words relief Fer for a moment. As she thought the brat in front of her wasn't really aware of the position she holds. On the other hand, Luxiana was looking at Fer with a straight face but deep inside she was hilariously looking at Fer.

‘She's easy to read. Her expression tells her everything. What the hell. Wasn't she aware of that?’

Fer smiled brightly at Luxiana.

“I was just following your command, Lady Luxiana.”

“Fufu— what are you saying? It wasn't even a command at all.” Luxiana slightly wave her hand while smiling.

“But Lady Luxiana, have you ever thought of being the next inheritor of Marquis Ginemoux?”

‘You really don't know when to stop, huh?’

Looking at Helena who's still silent sitting on the sofa with her head bow down. Her face can't be seen because of her hair. Luxiana was wondering whether Helena as offended because of her position in front of many nobles. A wench's daughter.

Luxiana just smiled meaningfully at Fer and didn't bother answering her. Why would she answer her? When Luxiana doesn't even want to become the successor. She doesn't even have a slightest interest in competing to be the inheritor. The outcome is clearly visible as the eldest among the Ginemoux siblings will be the inheritor.

‘I just need to clear the obstacles on the way so that I can live a long life.’

“Lady Fer, since I'm already here you can now go.”

“What do you mean, Lady Luxiana?”

“As her older sister I'm obligated to look after my younger siblings and punish them when they have done something wrong. Am I right?”

Fer's eyed showed a bit of anger before smiling at Luxiana. She can't believe that she had having a hard time dealing a young woman who knows nothing.

“But lady, I am assign to punish her I can't just let it anyone do it.”

Luxiana's lips slightly curled up as if she was trying jer best not to smile. She took a light sigh and made her expression a bit offended.

“Lady Fer, am I the ‘anyone’ you are talking about?”

Fer realize what she said earlier as she quickly apologize to Luxiana. Luxiana smiled but the offended expression was still on her face.

“Lady Fer, I understand that in your eyes I was just a powerless lady in this mansion but you still need to show me some respect.” Luxiana's voice was sad.

“I'm deeply offended.”

Silence filled the room as Luxiana said those words. Fer don't know what to say because she didn't realize the words she said. One thing is cleared, the woman in front of her wasn't a brat at all. Fer was trying to lure Luxiana into her trap but it was reverse, she was trap in her own trap.

The room became loud again when the doctor arrive. Luxiana instructed the doctor to treat Helena before she look at Fer. A faint smile was visible on Luxiana's lips and Fer clearly saw this. Fer wasn't wrong about it.

“Someone escort Lady Fer back to the Count Claire's territory. And deliver my message that I'm glad Lady Fer discipline my younger sister well.”

Luxiana choose Atie to escort Lady Fer back as Atie was her personal maid. Fer didn't say anything as she bow down and leave the room.

‘It should be enough for her to be suspicious about me. Well let's see what will happen.’

There was a sly smile in her face. After that she look at Helena. She was laid down on the bed while the doctor is treating her wounds and bruises.

‘Ha, now I should deal with this one.’
