Surprise

Ella woke up late the next day,but still managed to get to school. Ugh,she felt restless and knew that she was going to miss him.What a weird feeling...she just met him yesterday.In fact she was already missing him.Kinda of,she tried to convince herself. Ella hated the fact that she'd worn a white top on a short skirt and made her hair in a ponytail..leaving some in the front,partly covering her eyes, just to impress Ryan and now he wasn't in school.Ella felt bad the more when she thought she'd be the only one who will wash the two restrooms,when she hadn't even learned to wash one.

She'd already confronted Claire in leaving without her yesterday and the latter had apologized saying she was busy with her boyfriend, Charlie. Charlie's handsome and in the same department.

"Well...guess who I was grouped with yesterday" Ella said to Claire before they commenced the class.

"Who? I know it's Carlos" Ella shook her head

"Justin?" She shook her head again and she went on mentioning all the boys in our department and she got tired an frustrated and demanded the guy from Ella

"Ryan!" Ella smiled and Claire frowned

"Ryan?" she asked and Ella nodded again

"Why him Ella? You could have asked for a better partner from Mrs Stacy." she shot at Ella,talking in whispers but so loud.Ella didn't want to tell her that she'd actually requested another partner from the stern Mrs Stacy....because she was actually getting to understand Ryan.

"Well?" Claire probed further

"Well,look Cliare, Ryan's not what you think he is.He actually explained himself to me and I think I understood him"

"Think? Ella this is not about thinking.This guy is way far from your type!" Claire was quick to reply,her voice increasing every minute.

"But...nothing is going on between us"

"It doesn't have to go on before I warn you".

" Claire believe me.You'll like him as soon as you get to know him"

Claire reluctantly surrendered

"Fine, if you say so.But you'll have to report to me everuthing, okay?"

"Okay.Am glad you understood"

They smiled at each other as they prepared for class.Everyone was paying rapt attention to the teacher right in front of them,hours later when Ella felt someone playing with the ends of her hair.She actually,at first, thought it was just the breeze until it touched her gently on her shoulder,stretching out a piece of papet to her face.She wanted to scream,thinking it was something scary,but it covered her mouth as the teacher faced the smart board.It dropped the paper on her laps and she took it and read the content.

"It's Ryan.Am sitting right behind you.Do not look back ,just act like others and pass the paper back to me.Am sorry for yesterday."

It read.

Ella smiled.Infact she'd never been this happy and maybe excited

"Why are you late" she wrote and sent it back.It took seconds for him to reply,saying he'd actually woken up late.She didn't reply back,just kept the paper in between her science notebook and faced the board.Although her mind wasn't there.She was so happy she couldn't contain the happiness and couldn't even wait to turn back.The class ended and it took her a lot of energy not to immediately look back.

"Meet me in the cafe" he whispered in her ear and when she turned,she saw him leaving the class.He was a grey jacket on a white denim Jean.

Ella thought of how she'd explain all this to Claire.Everyone would be at the cafe and he'd asked her to meet him there? Did he do it o. purpose? Ella couldn't help but think.Well,Ella thought,the answer was simple.She'd ask him to sneak into the girl's restroom and meet her there.She thought that since he had sneaked in like yesterday and had seen the result he decided to let everyone see them together.

What will that seem like to everyone? That they were in a relationship? and with a politician's son too?.It made her heart skip as Claire, Natalia and Jasmine walked towards her.

"Hey,El.How was your punishment yesterday?" Jasmine giggled

"Well..how did you expect it to be?" Ella asked

"Hot, wild and cool" Natalia replied

"Hot, wild and cool? why'd you say that?" Claire asked Natalia

"Well...don't you know?" Natalia asked

"Hit me girls" Claire said and Ella's heart raced as Jasmine and Natalia leaned in and whispered into Claire's ears.Claire opened her mouth wide and suddenly the three of them began to giggle.They continued to laugh so hard that they didn't realize when Ella left the class and headed for the cafeteria.

Ella stamped her palm in her forehead, like Claire would do,when she saw Ryan sitting right in the middle if the cafeteria. What is he trying to prove to her?

Ella saw her sister sitting at the right fork of the room with the rest of her friends.Ryan was sitting alone-unbelievable

Ella never knew he was this serious.She ducked from the door and thought about not going in.She didn't want to raise suspicions.She closed her eyes and seconds later,she felt someone draw her in and she couldn't stop on time.She realised that it was Ryan,she tried to struggle free.The whole cafeteria became quiet and Ella knew they were being focused on.

Ella couldn't imagine what was going on in her sister's mind right now.They got to the table and he sat her down and asked what she'd love to have.Ella coyly shook her head,blushing terribly. Ryan left the table and Ella hadn't fully recovered from the shock when he arrived with plates of salads.Huh,he'd known she wouldn't be able to resist it.She kept quiet and ate the salad in silence.

"You don't have to be shy,they'd seen us at the restroom yesterday" He said and Ella looked up

"They what? how?" Ella now realised that that could be what Jasmine and Natalia might have whispered to Claire.

"I don't know.Guess they sneaked up on us" he replied

"Just the way you sneaked in yesterday, right?"

Ella asked and lowered her sight to avoid his gaze.He kicked her foot below the table and forced her to look up

"Am sorry."

Ella nodded

"You sure you okay?"

"Yeah I am" awkward silence

"Sure?" he looked funny and she was forced to smile

"Yeah " she said as she smiled

"Thought you wouldn't show up in school today"

"Why,you'd miss me right?"

Ella shrugged

"Maybe"

"Am satisfied to know you would" Silence again

Ella cleared her throat and looked into his eyes

"Ryan.. tell me the truth.Who are you?"

"Am Ryan of course" he seemed surprise

"Ryan what?" Ella looked serious now...the dangerous eyes staring at her didn't bother her anymore.Let them continue to stare...she wasn't committing a crime.

"Fine..you saw me on TV yesterday,right?"

"yes" Ella replied

"What were you doing awake around ten pm?"

"Tell me who you are Ryan.Everything"

He liked the sound of his name on her lips

"Fine,am Ryan Harrison...q politician's son"

"Does everyone know you are a politician's son?"

"Few"

"So if I handnt seen you last night you'd still keep it from me?"

He sighed

"No.Actually I'd been wanting to tell you.Looking at you, it's obvious to know you don't just agree with anyone that comes your way"

"Well I also prefer to be hurt with the truth than comforted with a lie,Ryan"
