Umrao Jaan was born as Amiran (Urdu: اميرن) to a modest family in Faizabad. After the villain Dilawar Khan was released from prison he decided to take revenge when his father testified against him in court. Khan kidnaps Amiran and decides to sell it in Lucknow. He was imprisoned with another girl, Ram Dai, but the two were separated when Dilawar Khan took him to Lucknow.
