Nineteen-year-old Rich Bruno lives in Adlington -- the second poorest of the four Cities, where his job involves him mining coal in the third tier. Luckily, Bruno and twenty other Miners get the opportunity of a lifetime: to start a new life in Espington, the second wealthiest of the four Cities. Knowing Bruno has no choice, he boards the carriage and heads over to the Marketing City. Abruptly, deep in the Pines and en route to Espington, the carriage is struck by a wood bomb. Miners are injured, some are killed, and Bruno notices two figures dressed in black and crimson: Islington, the wealthiest of the Four Cities. He also notices an amber-haired Miner that may or may not have been on the carriage beforehand.
Getting to Espington was not easy for Bruno.
Starting a new life there will be even harder.
