When Sparrow turns 14, she gains her power and summons her familiar. She hid her power and her familiar from others incase they were ever to be used against her. She never told anyone but her power gave her the ability to communicate with the shadows, and her familiar was a shapeshifter. One of the most powerful familiars ever known.
As she learned to control and understand her power and familiar, she thought of ways to escape the orphanage that she lived in. When she was finally able to escape the orphanage she happened to run into an old man looking for a fighter. They came to an agreement that she would became his fighter for an underground fighting pit and in exchange he would feed her and give her a place to sleep. He taught her how to fight and weild many different weapons. As she fought and trained in the pit, her and the old man slowly became friends, and then slowly became a family.
