Chapter 1

20 NOVEMBER 2030
TIME - 01.30 AM
COLD
That one word was sufficient to describe the weather at that time of day.
Except for a few cars and heavy vehicles passing by, the roads were deserted.
The road leads to the hills on the city outskirts.
A cabin hidden from view stood out in the woods.
The walls of the cabin appeared to bear a long history. Despite its outward appearance, the interior was chic and modern. A place that appears to be paradise.
However, the situation appeared to be different today. Things can be found lying around the house.
Everything was out of place, from clothes to furniture to the decorative items. Some furniture and decorations could be seen to have been broken. The entire house was in a desolate state.
All other lights were off except the light that flickered near the entrance. The sound of the rain flowing heavily outside can be heard clearly.
The darkness along with the eerie silence around the house, combined with the situation inside was enough to send shivers down the spine.
The door to the master bedroom appeared to be open.
Looking into the room, one can see that the situation in this room was not all that different from the situation in the hall, but it still seemed better than the other.
A man in his late twenties can be seen smoking a cigarette while sitting on the window pane.
On the table, there were numerous bottles of alcohol.
He didn't appear to be inebriated even after that.
The site of a man sitting there like that appeared really depressing.
On closer inspection, the man was attractive, despite the fact that he had enormous eye bags under his eyes, an unhappy aspect, and a bad mood reflected on his face.
He seemed lost in his thoughts.
And that man was Aiden.
A man with a tumultuous history.
He got everything he wanted and got rid of everything he didn't. He had everything people desired, whether it was money, love, land, or a good reputation.
But do you know what happened in the end?
He lost his most valuable possession.
Are you wondering why?
The reason was …….
……..he only lived for revenge.
And in order to achieve that, he ignored everything else life had offered him.
And the result…...
You already know that.

୨୧・ ✎ ⋮ ♡ HIS POV
Taking a seat near a window pane I was reflecting on everything that had happened and everything I had done in the previous few years.
Revenge was the only reason I lived my life.
And what resulted from that?
AIDEN
AIDEN
Nothing.....Nothing at all.
The joy I expected to feel, that triumphant feeling of seeing your long-time adversary lose in the game he set up for you. I felt none of those.
AIDEN
AIDEN
It was despair, not joy, that I felt, contrary to my expectations.
I got up from my where I was sitting and started walking towards the bed. I examined myself in the mirror next to the bed.
I had a shabby appearance. My face was tainted by a gloomy frown. That was something new.
I was always skilled at masking my emotions and expressions. But now I was looking downright terrible.
I felt a sudden explosion of feelings as I continued to glance at my appearance from the corner of my heart.
Anger and annoyance. That was the strongest feeling I had. And after what seemed like an eternity, I found myself crying.
AIDEN
AIDEN
Why? Whyyyy? whyyyy?
I screamed at my own reflection.
I slammed my hand on the mirror, shattering it to pieces. Blood gushed out of my palm, turning it bright crimson.
AIDEN
AIDEN
Why? Whh..yy?
I ended myself sitting on my knees on the floor, cradling my head. Tears streamed from my eyes like the heavy rain outside.
AIDEN
AIDEN
Pathetic
That's exactly what I am.
I feel sleepy. It appears that the bottles of beer I drank were finally having an effect.
AIDEN
AIDEN
Do I have a right to live?
This sudden thought took me by suprise.
But the answer was clear.
AIDEN
AIDEN
I don't
AIDEN
AIDEN
What am I supposed to do now?
As such thoughts persisted, I became increasingly drowsy, as time went on.
I got up from the floor and went to the bathroom to look for the first aid kit. It was stashed in the cupboard above the sink's first drawer.
I removed the glass fragments from my wound. It didn't bother me because it was nothing compared to what my heart was going through. I wrapped bandages around my hand after cleaning the wound.
The aftereffects of the alcohol I'd consumed some time ago, finally became apparent.
I went back to my room and sat down on the bed, where I promptly dozed off.
The night sky could be seen through the room's windows.
Outside, the heavy rain that had been falling earlier appears to have stopped.
The clouds had dissipated, revealing the stars in the sky.
A shooting star could be seen skimming across the sky high in the sky.
