Scene: West Wing Hallway – Minutes Later
Anna followed the butler in silence, her footsteps echoing on the marble floor.
The hallway seemed darker than before — oil paintings on the walls now looked like watchful eyes.
Guests were gathered near a grand double-door room marked Room 12.
Anna Carter
*Room 12…
The one never explored in the book.*
The door creaked open. The room inside was torn apart — books scattered, curtains ripped, a shattered mirror on the floor. But no blood. No body.
Lady Minerva
(whispers)
It was just like this when I found it.
No one saw anything. No one heard anything.
That’s the scariest part.
Allen
Someone was searching for something.
Allen
This wasn’t panic. This was planned.
Across the room, three new faces stood out to Anna:
Mrs. Elise
(Elegant, middle-aged woman with gloved hands and eyes that never blink. She keeps checking her watch, even though it’s cracked.)
Theo
(A shy, awkward young man, maybe 19, who stutters and avoids everyone’s gaze.
Carrying a sketchbook clutched tightly to his chest.)
Dr. Rowan
(The mansion’s private doctor. Calm, clean, polite… too polite.)
Anna Carter
(thinking)
*I don’t remember them from the book.
Or maybe… I never got far enough.*
Suddenly, Jake Lu appeared behind her — silent as always.
Jake Lu
What do you see, Miss Carter?
Anna Carter
(calmly)
Nothing yet. But someone wants us looking in the wrong direction.
Jake Lu
Good answer.
Be careful.
The game’s begun.
Anna Carter
(thinking)
If Room 12 is the key…
What were they looking for?
Her eyes landed on a broken picture frame under the bed — the faces scratched out. Except one.
