CHAPTER 1

Chapter 1

The city of Paris shimmered in the morning light, its wide boulevards already alive with the pulse of ambition and dreams. Cutting through the heart of the city, a sleek black sports car glided down the avenue, its engine purring with restrained power. The vehicle’s tinted windows reflected the world outside—a world that barely touched the man inside.

In the back seat, Issac Hynes sat with an air of effortless command. At twenty-five, he was already a legend in business circles: the enigmatic CEO of Hynes Group, a man whose brilliance and relentless drive had built an empire. His blond hair was perfectly styled, his black eyes sharp and unreadable. Dressed in a tailored suit, he crossed his legs and glanced at his watch, the gesture precise, almost impatient. Time was money, and for Issac, every second lost was an opportunity wasted.

At the wheel, Smith, his loyal driver, navigated the traffic with practiced ease. Smith knew better than to interrupt the silence; his boss was not a man for idle chatter. The city blurred past, but Issac’s mind was already at the office, calculating deals and strategies, untouched by the distractions of ordinary life.

A few blocks away, the morning was far less kind to Rose. The Blue Light Café, a modest spot tucked between boutiques, was crowded with the usual rush of customers. Rose moved quickly from table to table, balancing trays and forced smiles. Her blue eyes—bright but weary—stood out against her long black hair, which brushed her elbows as she worked. She wore the café’s uniform: a crisp white shirt, a knee-length skirt, and a faded apron that had seen better days.

But today, trouble found her. A man at one of the tables reached out, his hand sliding up her thigh as she set down his coffee. Rose froze, her heart pounding. “Please don’t touch me,” she said, voice trembling but firm.

The man only smirked, his hand lingering. In a flash of anger and fear, Rose slapped him hard across the face. The café fell silent for a moment, the sound echoing louder than the morning chatter.

The owner stormed over, his face red with fury. “What do you think you’re doing?” he hissed, grabbing Rose by her hair. “You dare hit a customer?”

Tears welled in her eyes as she pleaded, “Don’t fire me, please. I need this job.”

But the owner was beyond reason. He dragged her through the café, ignoring her cries. “It must hurt,” he sneered, shoving her out the door. Rose stumbled, her knees scraping the pavement as she landed hard on the street, apron askew, hair tangled.

“Please stop, it hurts!” she sobbed, but the door slammed shut behind her.

For a moment, Rose sat on the curb, dazed and humiliated, her world spinning out of control. The humiliation burned, but the fear was worse. She had nowhere to go, no money, and now, no job. The city’s indifference pressed in on her from all sides.

Then, the roar of an engine snapped her out of her despair. She looked up just in time to see a black sports car barreling down the road—straight toward her. The sunlight flashed on the hood as the car closed the distance in seconds.
