Ria tiptoed into the kitchen, careful not to wake anyone. She hadn’t eaten much all day — heartbreak didn’t leave room for hunger, but her stomach had other plans.
She reached for a glass… and froze.
Liam
*raising eyebrows*
Liam
Looking for something sweet?
Liam leaned casually against the doorway, arms crossed, hair slightly messy. Not his usual cold, polished doctor self. He looked… raw. Dangerous. Unreadable.
Ria
*patting her chest*
Ria
Y-You scared me…
Liam
You scare easily.
He stepped in, bare feet silent against the marble. She clutched the glass tighter.
Liam
Do you always wander into strangers’ kitchens in the middle of the night?
Ria
This isn’t just a stranger’s kitchen. Your grandma told me I could move around.
Liam
Hmm. Still. Next time, tell someone. You look like you’d pass out from a sneeze.
Ria
I’m not that fragile, you know.
He didn’t answer. He just stared at her — not rudely, not mockingly… but intensely. His gaze moved from her flushed cheeks… to her trembling fingers… to the exposed curve of her neck.
Ria
*flustering*
Ria
W-Why are you looking at me like that?
Liam
I’m wondering something.
Ria
What?
Liam
What kind of man throws away a woman who’d burn her whole world for him?
Her breath caught. He took a step closer.
Liam
And why does it bother me that he did?
Ria
You don’t even know me…
Liam
*low, almost a whisper*
Liam
Maybe that’s what I’m trying to fix.
The air between them sizzled. It wasn’t love. Not yet. But it wasn’t indifference anymore.
